The RemARKables Tie One On!

It’s Blog Tour time…and that time of year…yes, there are packages to wrap! You might be surprised to find you have the resources to come up with some pretty trendy wrapping at your fingertips!

I started with our gorgeous wrapping paper, currently available at a great price as a Year-End-Closeout. This paper is thick and peek-proof:

Nope, can’t see through it! I tied our Natural 7/8″ Ribbon around the wrapped box and then started to play with embellishment:

Star Framelits and Lost Lagoon paper and embellishments create a package that works for the holidays or even a December birthday.

For a completely different look, I punched circles in Cherry Cobbler, Gold Glimmer, and Typeset Designer Series paper and strung them on Linen Thread. The Glimmer paper is attached with a glue dot, one on either side of the thread, so there’s lots of sparkle.

If you eliminate the star and change out the colors, you have a package wrapped for any occasion.

Think outside the box here (get it? GET IT??) Wrap in DSP, or even a brown paper bag or newspaper. Look for the widest, brightest ribbon that you have and wrap it around your package. Punch shapes – flowers, stars, squares, triangles – and string them on linen thread or baker’s twine. The possibilities are endless! Wrap away!

Just one snowflake

This is as close to snow as I’m going to see this winter:

Not that I’m really complaining. Although if I wanted to complain, I would grumble about the fact that Stampin’ Up! retired Festive Flurry and the coordinating framelits after only one year. They’re so beautiful! But I’m not in charge of that, and I have no desire to have that responsibility either.

I used my snips to trim the interior image a couple of times so that I could layer on the color. I don’t mind cutting straight lines at all.

Give thanks – RemARKably

I hope you’re enjoying this month’s RemARKable Pinworthy Blog tour. I have a SUPER-EASY project that you can put together as quick gifts for your loved ones for this holiday season. The star of this project is the Gratitude for Days Simply Created Kit:

I’ve added a few products to this project but it is primarily the Gratitude for Days Kit. I couldn’t resist the new Note Tag punch to make the sentiment from the Perfect Pennants stamp set:

I am grateful for many, many things – but my husband (Number One) and my children – including my dear son-in-law – are my greatest treasures. I created this mini-album to keep a few photos from a recent family trip.

I chose a few special photos and put one in each pocket with one of the journaling cards that comes with the kit:

My kids live all over the world, and a photo of the three of them – even in big puffy coats – is a treasure!

I love how the pockets allow you a little peek at the photo inside!

The cards can be used however you like – in this case, since the photos are from a trip together, I’ll use them to record thoughts and emotions about our time together.

The Gratitude for Days kit has beautiful colors that are easy to coordinate. I used stamps from Remember This (PLxSU), Holiday Cheer (PLxSU) and Hip Notes.

Remembering to be Thankful

I work at having an “attitude of gratitude” all year long, and in November I give myself a little extra reminder:

Stamps: Thankful For (retired), Wetlands, Gorgeous Grunge
Color Palette: Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Baked Brown Sugar

Can I just say that if you are one of the 4 people left who don’t own Gorgeous Grunge that you need to fix that problem? It is absolutely indispensable.

I used my Stampin’ Write markers to create the variegated color on the stems. They aren’t weeds…just in case you were wondering.

Whimsical Houses

Who knew you could have so much fun with houses?

These are SUCH FUN to color. (The truth: I have ALWAYS loved to color!!) I’ve used both Stampin’ Write Markers and Blendabilities on these – the Stampin’ Write markers provide more options in the pastel range.

The Under the Tree Specialty DSP in the Holiday catalog is a heavy-weight paper that is just right for making tags, and the Angle Topper punch makes the same shape EVERY TIME. (I KNOW. Don’t you love it?)

That Glimmer Paper heart is punched with the Owl punch – that’s the teeniest heart punch we have.

It’s easy to coordinate Bakers’ Twine with your project – we have so many colors. These are quick to make – what are you waiting for?

Fall Colors in the Flower Shop

This year for my October Easel Calendar I decided to take a break from Halloween:

I mean, Halloween is a lot of fun – and it’s a Really Big Deal in Hawaii – but I just couldn’t bring myself to look at spiders all month. Can you relate to that?

When I first order Flower Shop (AND the Pansy punch, of course – this kind of thing goes without saying) I discovered that Stampin’ Up! had pulled a bit of a fast one on us. The flower – and the punched image – are NOT symmetrical. You can’t just stamp that flower and punch it out any ol’ which-a-way. I developed a solution and posted a mini-tutorial: you can check it out HERE.

It’s RemARKably Scary Fun!

Welcome to the September RemARKable Blog tour – our theme is Scary Fun this month! Crafters are always thinking a month or two in advance, although some of us (names omitted to protect the innocent) don’t actually DO anything until the last minute 🙂

Let’s start with little treats:

The Tiny Treat boxes are 2″ all the way around – not too big and not too small. Just the right size for Halloween-sized chocolate!

These monsters from Freaky Friends remind me of Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak – an all time favorite in the Stamper Household!

The Very Vanilla panel is 1 5/8″ wide and 9″ long. There are two small holes in the lid which I used to thread the Two-Tone trim. I had help, too:

One more treat package:

The Decorative masks – Stripes and Dots or Hearts and Stars – are some of my favorites from the 2014-2015 catalog. A couple of minutes with a dauber and POW! Magic!

Did you see the images stamped right on the clothespin? We have big ones now, too!

Last but not least, a Halloween card to share a giggle. In my case, there’s a long story behind a broken vacuum in the Stamper household, and the broom really is getting a workout.

The goofy owl sees that broom and is worried it may be destined for her.

This cat, however, is smart enough to stay out of the way! All images are from Freaky Friends with the exception of the ticket from That’s the Ticket.

Welcome to my Zoo

September…it used to be all about back-to-school, but most Maui Scholars have been in the classroom for a month already!

I’ll confess that the phrase “what a zoo” entered my mind when I thought about back-to-school. You’ll never see these 3 characters in a zoo!

Bags for all Seasons

My most faithful customers got a little something extra this month:

I’ve had the Decorative Masks (Hearts & Stars #133777, Dots and Stripes #133775) for a while and I’ve had this project in mind even longer! It was very easy to do and I’m pleased with the results.

The masks are quite inexpensive – $2.95! – and they’re very easy to work with. I used blue painter’s tape to hold them in place, and daubers to apply the ink straight from the ink pad. My bags were bigger than the masks and I found it very easy to line up the images in order to work across the full width of the bags.

I stamped the initials with the Larger Than Life Letters and Numbers (#135382) and layered them onto a coordinating Starburst Framelit (#1329670). A little bit of coordinating ribbon finished it off.
