Today Hawaii – and the rest of the world – celebrates the canonizaton of Saint Damien de Veuster. His life as a priest who came to serve the Hansen’s Disease community exiled on the Kalaupapa peninsula is a testament of love, compassion and service that is inspirational and humbling.

Beautiful card and what a wonderful way to commemorate a truly giving saint. The En Francais was an especially nice touch – Pere Damien would be pleased. I had lost track of the fact that he was finally being canonized – thanks for the heads up. I learned something else too. I had no idea Hansen’s Disease was the proper modern name for this condition.
Thanks for sharing and educating Anne. Now if you could only send a little Maui warmth Southern Oregon’s way!!
