Spread the Joy

Time to spread a little joy…

Maui Stamper Spread the Joy handmade cardsStampin’ Up! style!!!

Maui Stamper Spread the Joy handmade cards

  • Spread the Joy and Make a Cake stamp sets
  • Crumb Cake and Whisper White card stock
  • Cherry Cobbler FFIP
  • Adorning Accents TIEF and the Big Shot
  • Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine
  • Rhinestone jewels

This stamp set is a bit of a sleeper.  The style is fresh and young, and it has a strong theme of love and caring.  It was designed by Emily Montoya in the Stampin’ Up! home office – and it’s only available until January 2, 2014.  You won’t find it in any printed catalogs – just in the Online Store.

Maui Stamper Spread the JoyClear #134784 at $18.95, Wood #134781 at $25.95.  I sat down the other day to play:

Maui Stamper Spread the Joy handmade cardsBe Brave!  What a perfect little lunchbox note – in Island Indigo, Soft Suede and So Saffron.  I really love this image with its swirling seas and that heartfelt, woodcut style message.

Maui Stamper Spread the Joy handmade cardsThe sentiments Emily chose for this set really speak to me…

Maui Stamper Spread the Joy handmade cardsDo you have a bucket list?  This would be a good starting point!  This color scheme is Island Indigo, Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals, with a little Pool Party brought in with the Epic Day This ‘n That Designer Series paper.

Maui Stamper Spread the Joy handmade cardsI like to add a Whisper White or Very Vanilla panel on the inside of my cards.  It’s easier to write on, and I like the finished look it gives.  I used my Simply Scored to add lines 1/8″ from each edge of the panel for more definition.

Since I made this a tall card, it needed a custom envelope.  (Drum roll…and cue the Envelope Punch Board!)

Maui Stamper Spread the Joy handmade cardsThis ‘n That Epic Day DSP ties the card and the envelope together for a perfectly coordinated look – and we do love things to be perfectly coordinated, don’t we?

All these goodies are available at my Online Store where you can shop 24/7 without leaving your comfy chair.

A RemARKable Autumn Anniversary set

I think it’s fall, y’all…

Maui Stamper Best of Autumn 25th Anniversary RemARKable Blog tourAnd if those leaves were shaped a little differently that would look quite a bit like the plumeria tree in my back yard.

But we are celebrating Autumn, the season of crisp air, apples and pears, and falling leaves.  Or on Maui, the return of the snowbirds, the first humpback sighting, and lilikoi season!

Maui Stamper Best of Autumn 25th Anniversary RemARKable Blog tour Autumn AnniversaryI’m hooked on these Thinlets cards – fun, easy AND a guaranteed wow!  The “DSP” panel on the front is a piece of Very Vanilla card stock cut with the Thinlets die and trimmed to fit.

Funny how much difference placement can make…this was my first attempt with this idea:

Maui Stamper Best of Autumn 25th Anniversary RemARKable Blog tourThis feels all wrong to me – the front panel is receding, the back panel is approaching, and the whole thing feels out of balance.  When I re-made the card (and realized how much better the falling leaves stamp suited the theme) I was much happier.  And that’s what counts in my book 🙂

While I was playing with these stamps, I inked a few of the images in Smokey Slate.  Not sure why I chose that color, but I loved the muted look.  (It made me happy…see above.)  I tried them out as gift cards:

Maui Stamper Best of Autumn 25th Anniversary RemARKable Blog tourThe ultimate in simplicity – perhaps too simple for some, but not for me.  Perhaps a single word in the corner, perhaps not…I just loved it.  I tried them all:

Maui Stamper Best of Autumn 25th Anniversary RemARKable Blog tourThis bucket of apples worked so well with the Smokey Slate!  Featuring just one of the apples gave this image a pop! without being overwhelming.

Maui Stamper Best of Autumn 25th Anniversary RemARKable Blog tourI wouldn’t normally put Tangerine Tango with Smokey Slate, but I had a theme going here! Black would have been too sharp, and would have evoked more of the feeling of Halloween.

Maui Stamper Best of Autumn 25th Anniversary RemARKable Blog tourMy little friend the tree wasn’t so sure she liked being stamped in Slate, but she agreed to be a good sport and play along.

Maui Stamper Best of Autumn 25th Anniversary RemARKable Blog tourAnd here’s the Slate family portrait.  I could imagine doing this with other neutrals – and with others from this 25th Anniversary Collection.

Follow the tour to Andi Potler to see what she has to share – I’m sure you’ll be delighted!

Quickie Christmas Enclosures

I’m GREAT at planning ahead…not so great at getting it done.  That’s why I love ACCE – it helps me to get a few Christmas things set aside.

Maui Stamper Christmas Gift Enclosures handmade cardThese are quick-as-can-be thanks to stamps that coordinate perfectly with punches and the Season of Style designer series paper.

Maui Stamper Christmas Gift Enclosures handmade card

Crystal designed these 3 x 3 enclosure cards as a little bonus project for ACCE.  She used Very Merry Tags and the Christmas Collectibles stamp set with the coordinating Ornament punch (and that shape keeps showing up – it’s in the Best of Christmas set too!).

Don’t forget – the $25 Joining Offer from Stampin’ Up! ends this Monday!  You’ve got just a few days to get $26.95 in product plus a business kit for $25.  More than that, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the demonstrator website and Stampin’ Connection, the demonstrator’s creative forum.

Shorebirds

I’m not an official “birder”, but I am certainly a bird lover.

Maui Stamper Wetlands Birds handmade cardThe Wetlands stamp set jumped off the page at me the first time I looked through the 2013-2014 Stampin’ Up! annual catalog, but I was amazingly disciplined and waited to buy it.  Last week, the wait was over!

Maui Stamper Wetlands Birds handmade card

  • Wetlands stamp set
  • Naturals White, Island Indigo and Crumb Cake card stock
  • Basic Grey, Island Indigo, Pool Party and Crumb Cake FFIP
  • Pearls
  • Island Indigo Baker’s Twine
  • The Big Shot and the Oval Framelits
  • Stampin’ Sponges

I cut an oval mask using the Framelits collection and sponged ocean and sand colors onto Naturals White card stock.  I mean, it’s a scene from NATURE, doesn’t it seem NATURAL to use Naturals White??  My real intention was to take advantage of the texture of the card stock, both the physical texture and the little color “dits” (that’s what I call ’em, ok?) in the paper.

There’s a LOT going on in the Stampin’ Up! world right now – an extra $25 in hostess benefits, special one-week discounts in the Online Store, new stamps, and of course the opportunity to become a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for only $25!  Check out the deals!

Epic Day DSP

I’ve had the Epic Day This ‘n That Designer Series paper on my craft desk this week:

Maui Stamper handmade card Hello Lovely

  • Hello Lovely and Simply Sketched (hostess) stamp sets
  • Crumb Cake and Whisper White card stock
  • Epic Day DSP
  • Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake FFIP
  • Decorative label and oval punches
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Linen thread

Maui Stamper handmade card Hello LovelyI love the frame from Hello Lovely but to tell the truth I can’t imagine anyone I would actually say that to…in person or on a card.  Hello Lovely??  It just doesn’t seem to trip off my tongue.  I covered it up 🙂

What do you think?  Would you say it?  Send it?

Sweet Thoughts

Sometimes simple is best, but it can always use a little twist:

Maui Stamper handmade card For the Birds

  • For the Birds and Summer Silhouettes stamp sets
  • Whisper White and Smoky Slate card stock
  • Smokey Slate FFIP
  • Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write marker
  • Pink Pirouette 3/8 inch taffeta ribbon
  • 1 3/4 inch circle punch
  • Corner rounder punch

I cut the Whisper White card to 4 x 5 1/4 inches and mounted it on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch square of Smoky Slate.  Just a little twist!

Here on Maui it’s been so hot and HUMID the past week or so.  I can’t think about fall at all.  And I’ve got red and green all over my craft room, but I’m not quite ready to share that.  Soon, though…in the meantime…

Maui Stamper handmade card For the BirdsI love this technique.  It’s so simple.  I used a punch here, but it’s easy to do with framelits, too.  And framelits have so many shape options!  Just for the record, I punch first, make tiny pencil dots at four points on the inside of the card (around the punched space), then stamp.

For the Birds is an overlooked stamp set.  Give it a second look!

Three by three

Love making gift cards – 3 x 3 is fun size!

Maui Stamper hand made gift card I can’t take the credit for this – Peggy designed it for our Maui Stampers gathering last week, and I cockaroached it for my Hostess Club this week.   (Cockaroach is a local expression and in stamping terms it would translate to CASE.  And yes, it has that “extra” letter a in the middle.)

  • Fabulous Phrases stamp set
  • Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso card stock
  • Season of Style DSP
  • Early Espresso FFIP
  • Circle punches:  3/4, 1 and 1 1/4 inch

Maui Stamper hand made gift card There’s Old Olive and Whisper White card stock on the inside in addition to the above colors, and the circle punches are 1/2 inch and bitty.

Maui Stamper hand made gift card envelopeWe made the envelopes with the new Envelope Punch Board – oh, yeah!  Can you make envelopes with Simply Scored?  Well, of course you can.  Can you make them more quickly, easily and professionally with the Envelope Punch Board?  YOU BETCHA!!!

It’s a RemARKable Autumn

Trick or Treat!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour handmade Halloween gift bagHalloween goodies – or a bag full of Creepy Crawlies?  I’m hoping for treats, not tricks.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour handmade Halloween gift bagThe Halloween Bash stamp set has fun images to play with, and I thought these tickets were just the thing to add to the top of my tag.  They’ve got a little sparkle courtesy of Vanilla Smooch spritz.  And the hole for that gorgeous ribbon at the top is made with the small ticket punch – it makes a generous opening.  I’ve used the beautiful black and grey striped ribbon that’s available again as part of the Halloween Banner Simply Created Accessory kit.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour handmade Halloween gift bagI stamped the main image once in Tangerine Tango, then again in Black Staz-on.  I cut out the word “CRAWLY” in black, snipped the ends, and added Basic Black card stock extensions to the ends.  The black rhinestone gems at the bottom are colored with the black Sharpie® marker that NEVER leaves my desk!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour handmade Halloween gift bagThe tag can stand alone without the bag, but we do love those Tag a Bags!  Don’t miss the textural stamping on the Tangerine Tango tag base courtesy of Gorgeous Grunge, the stamp set that does everything – even the dishes!!  (ok, I’m KIDDING there…)

It’s a challenge for me to get in the mood for a true Autumn card, but I think the muse was working for this one:

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour handmade Autumn cardMagnificent Maple is a single stamp and it is truly a magnificent rendition of a leaf.  I’ve masked and stamped it in Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze and Old Olive. I chose Naturals Ivory card stock for the card base, but I used Very Vanilla for the tag – the Naturals papers have just enough texture to them that a bold image such as that tag doesn’t come out with enough definition to please me.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour handmade Autumn cardI used the Tags for You stamp and punch bundle and popped the label up on a dimensional.  “So Grateful” is from Apothecary Art, and the spatters are from Gorgeous Grunge.  (If I keep using that stamp set it’s gonna get a Maui Stamper Abbreviated Name, but for now I’ll spell it out.)

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s Stamp-of-the-Month projects and I encourage you to take the full tour to see what everyone is sharing.  Robin is up next and I KNOW she’ll have a treat in store for you!  All the blogs on the tour are available below in case you want to re-visit a favorite or just take the tour in your own quirky way.  I encourage that kind of behavior 🙂
