What could be better? Best of Shelli

RemARKably, it’s the third Sunday and time for a Best of Blog Tour. The featured set for July is Best of Shelli – you DO know who Shelli is, don’t you?

Maui Stamper RemARKable Best of Shelli Blog Tour

  • Best of Shelli 25th Anniversary, Affection Collection and Express Yourself (hostess) stamp sets
  • Very Vanilla, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Baked Brown Sugar card stock
  • Crisp Cantaloupe and Baked Brown Sugar FFIP
  • Big Shot and Hearts A-Flutter Framelits
  • Artisan Punch
  • Natural Trim Ribbon
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals

Each of these images really does say “Shelli Gardner” in my mind. I had a good time stretching my usual sense of style to play with the textures available with these varied images, and of course once you start cutting out flags it’s really hard to stop 🙂

BoShelli10I have a soft spot for typewriters – I’ve got my grandfather’s old Royal in its traveling case. He used to take it on the train every day from Redwood City to San Francisco as a VP for Pacific Far East Line. I vividly remember riding with my grandmother late summer afternoons to the train station to wait for Gramps to get home.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Best of Shelli Blog Tour 25th Anniversary

  • Best of Shelli 25th Anniversary and Trust God stamp sets
  • Whisper White Craft Ink and Pistachio Pudding and Soft Suede FFIP
  • Whisper White and Pistachio Pudding card stock
  • Big Shot and Circle Thinlets Flip Card die
  • 1 3/4″ Circle punch
  • Bitty punch pack
  • Pearl Jewels
  • Tea Lace Doily

This has a TOTALLY different feeling, doesn’t it? If you look closely you’ll see I didn’t bother to align these images perfectly – no Stamp-a-ma-jig this time! I was feeling terribly cavalier and did some “eyeball inking” – imagine that!!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Best of Shelli Blog Tour 25th AnniversaryThis looks straight onto the Flip Circle portion of the card – you can see how everything is lined up. I trimmed a smidge off the Tea Party doily so that it would fit around the curve created by the thinlet.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Best of Shelli Blog Tour 25th AnniversaryHere’s my trick for that two-tone effect. I ran a piece of Whisper White card stock through with the thinlet, overlapping just the last scoring bar. It was easy to line up that folded line on my Stampin’ Trimmer and take the flap off so that I could adhere the back panel to the card base.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Best of Shelli Blog Tour 25th AnniversaryHere’s what it looks like flattened out from the front – well, it’s the front of the card and the front of the second page, and the back of the Circle Flip – if you can follow my fronts and backs!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Best of Shelli Blog Tour 25th AnniversaryHere’s what it looks like if you flip the “flattened out front” card onto the reverse side.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Best of Shelli Blog Tour 25th AnniversaryOne more angle for you to see! Although it appears that the front panel is NOT Pistachio Pudding, I assure you that it is. This Thinlet is really fun to play with!

Your next stop, as always, is the Trinity Design Studio – be sure and leave Robin a comment to tell her how much you love her work!

Convention Swaps: Vintage Card

I really love swapping at Convention each year.  I participate in organized swaps for the challenge and quality of swaps received, and I participate in general floor swapping because it’s such fun and it’s a great way to meet new people.

Today’s card is a swap I made for the Very Vintage Swap run by Barbara Welch.  I received GORGEOUS swaps in return – everyone did an outstanding job.  Hope they liked my card!

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Convention 2013 Very Vintage Swap

This card was a labor of love, and I enjoyed every minute of it.  One thing I’ve learned over time is that swaps with small group sizes (this one was only 12) are more enjoyable to create and seem to produce better results.  It’s just no fun to make 120 of the same card, at least in my opinion!

I’ll be featuring this card in class on Saturday, August 24th if you’d like to make one for yourself.  All products are Stampin’ Up!, of course 🙂

RemARKable Stampers Affection Collection Blog Tour

Hello there friends!  Thanks for taking time from your busy day to share a little Affection with us.  Welcome to the Valley Isle, where the weather outside is…delightful!

Maui Stamper Affection Collection

I’m taking you forward today to springtime holidays.  Affection Collection is well suited to Valentines Day, but I chose to focus on how well it works for bridal showers and weddings, and specifically how it works for small cards.  These are 3″ squares, and  I used my favorite color combo – Marina Mist and Lucky Limeade:

Maui Stamper Affection Collection

This image is easy to align with the ever-faithful Stamp-a-ma-jig.  Punch the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes with the Modern Label punch, add a couple of pearls, and tie on some Lucky Limeade Bakers twine for a finishing touch.

Maui Stamper Affection Collection

For a little love note, how about a heart on wings?

Maui Stamper Affection Collection Heart on Wings

We’ve gotten awfully spoiled with Framelits, but the truth is I actually pulled out my snips and cut this winged heart out BY HAND.  Yes.  Believe it.  And didn’t I do a lovely job?

Maui Stamper Affection Collection Heart on Wings

There’s some Vanilla Smooch Spritz , Crystal Effects, and yes, even Dazzling Diamonds to add some sparkle.  I had the ceiling fan running (yes, it’s that warm) when I took the Dazzling Diamonds out of the secure vault and opened the jar — oopsie, that was exciting!  Off with the fan and then a very careful drizzling of those Diamonds to keep the peace. Mr. Maui Stamper does not like glitter, and those Dazzling Diamonds have a mind of their own.

Maui Stamper Affection Collection Flags

I think this is my favorite of these three little gift cards.  The little flags are hand cut (but hint, hint, not for long!! The Spring Catalog is coming soon!) and attached with dimensionals.  That little bit of Marina Mist 1/8″ taffeta is threaded through tiny 1/16″ holes and knotted, and I promise you it was much easier than it sounds.  A little bit of bling finishes off this love note:

Maui Stamper Affection Collection Flags

  • Affection Collection in wood #127946  $29.95
  • Affection Collection in clear #127949   $21.95
  • Whisper White Mini Square Envelopes #107309  $7.50

This is a Holiday Catalog stamp set that will NOT carry forward, so you have until January 2, 2013 to make it yours.
