TEXTURED FLORAL BIRTHDAY IN Lemon Lolly and Fresh Freesia

It’s technically Spring for another 4 days, so I’m calling this Textured Floral birthday card a celebration of Spring! The combination of Lemon Lolly, Fresh Freesia and BubbleBath is perfect for a floral explosion.

  • Stamps: Textured Floral
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Lemon Lolly, Fresh Freesia, BubbleBath, Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist
  • Accessories: Big Boss, Deckle Rectangles, Adhesive Backed Solid Gems, Artistic Mix Decorative Masks, Blending Brush, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I promised myself I would hold back on new floral stamp sets when the 23-24 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog was published. Ahem. So much for those promises! I couldn’t resist all the floral images with so many centers and leaves to mix and match with the blooms. Does it count as breaking a promise if you didn’t really mean it in the first place? Asking for a friend.

A Handmade birthday Card with flowers in lavender, yellow and green on a white card base with the sentiment “birthday blooms for you”

You can just see the edge of the masking I did on the Granny Apple Green panel. The Blending Brush is the perfect tool to whisk ink evenly across the mask. I prefer subtle texture in my layers.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about the offset panel. I don’t mind asymetry, but I prefer parallel or perpendicular lines. I guess you could say this one is just a little bit outside the box for me! If you need Textured Floral in your crafting box, shop the Online Store.

Wattle: The Brightest Beauty

Have you seen a wattle shrub? It’s a member of the Acacia family, and if you’re an Aussie, you likely know it well. It’s the National flower, growing across the entire country – and it’s a beautiful stamp set in the mini catalog as well.

  • Stamps: Brightest Beauty, Art Gallery
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Granny Apple Green, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry
  • Accessories: Big Boss, Golden Beauty dies, Artistic Mix Decorative Masks, Blending Brushes, Stampin’ Write Markers, White Frayed Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The wattle is beloved by Aussies, and I’ve got my very own beloved Aussie, so you can see why I might be fond of this glorious explosion of color. For my card, I colored the tiny blooms with Stampin’ Write markers, using a combination of Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight. I used So Saffron for the mask on the card base to avoid overwhelming the flowers – a lot of yellow is, well, a LOT of yellow!

Did you see my custom trim? I’ve been feeling pretty out-of-the-box lately with trim. This particular bit is what you get when you pull apart the White Frayed Ribbon. I’ve cut it in half and tried playing (unsuccessfully) with the warp, but this card uses what would be considered the weft:

It initially comes apart quickly and easily, but as it gets longer, you have to tease it out with the pointy end of your Take Your Pick tool. It has a thin, wooly look – but be careful not to tangle it, or you’ll just need to pick out another length. Ask me how I know.

How do you challenge yourself to think outside the box? Honestly, for me it’s often boredom – I’ve used this, I’ve used that, I want something NEW. (oh dear, I think you know why I’m a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator now…)

Take a look at Brightest Beauty. It’s on page 60 of the mini catalog, or you can see it HERE. It’s a bit of a sleeper, so you might be the first on your block to craft with it! I hope you love it.
