The Retiring List – what’s a crafter to do?

I’ve had a little time to look through the list of products retiring from 2016-2017, and I have a few things to share with you. Products are selling out VERY QUICKLY, so don’t delay. Here are a few things I consider noteworthy:

Bundles are retiring – in some cases, stamps will continue. Many have already sold out.
Many suites, especially in the Occasions catalog are retiring. Stock up on DSP and embellishments for things you already have
Project Life products are retiring, many at a discount. The cards packs are GREAT for card making!!
Gorgeous Grunge – Clear and Wood – is retiring. Don’t miss that one.
Botanical Blooms (discounted!) and the Pineapple Clear and Wood stamp are retiring – if you do tropical cards, snap these up!
The Owl Builder punch is retiring. So.Much.Punch.Art.
Christmas Greetings Thinlits are retiring – one of my absolute favorites.
Stars Framelits are retiring. These are a holiday staple.
The Adhesive Remover is retiring, and I consider it a crafting essential.

RemARKable Blog Tour

Welcome to the August RemARKable Blog Tour. We’re featuring the exclusive, available-only-this-month scrum-tiddily-umptious Thoughtful Branches stamp set, paired with the Beautiful Branches thinlits. I’m not featuring the thinlits today, but you can see them used HERE and HERE. Instead, I’m focusing on the trees.

I elected to keep this card on the simple side. You could use just about any sentiment – thanks, sympathy, hello or even Christmas. I made it a birthday card because, well, #imbringingbirthdaysback. Aren’t you?

The color palette is Pool Party, Island Indigo, Whisper White and Crumb Cake. I’ve used the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and the Thoughtful Banners set for the sentiment. The Designer Series Paper is from the Subtles Stack. Oh, and of course I’ve used Stampin’ Dimensionals!

I love that you can stamp the trunk independently of the branches. No more fussy markering the stamps! (Ha!! My spell-check doesn’t think MARKERING is a word. Silly spell-check.)

This card is slightly stepped up – but not too much. I used the Floral Boutique DSP and the Softly Falling TIEF for texture, and added a little sparkle with the Wink of Stella clear brush. The image is cut with Ovals framelits, and I added a greeting cut from Silver Foil paper using the Christmas Greetings thinlits.

Sparkle and Shine for Christmas

Forgive me if I bypass Halloween and Thanksgiving for a bit…I’ll be back, but the Holiday catalog has such beautiful Christmas things:

Stamps: None!!
Color Palette: Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Mossy Meadow, GOLD
Accessories: Big Shot, Precision Base Plate, Christmas Greetings Thinlits, Very Vanilla 1 1/4″ Subtle Stripes Vanilla Ribbon, Home for Christmas Enamel Dots, Home for Christmas DSP, Banner Triple Punch, Glimmer Paper, 2 1/2″ Circle Punch

Yes I fussy-cut the poinsettia. It’s very forgiving.

Let me tell you about cutting out these words with the Christmas Greetings Thinlits and the Precision Base plate. The words pop right out of the Thinlit. There are no funny bumps from the holes meant to help you poke them out. The skinny bits don’t get twisted and pulled out of shape. You need this. I certainly do!
