Tomorrow is the RemARKable Blog Tour.  I’m featuring For the Birds, and I have a little sneak peek for you today:

  • Stamps:  For the Birds, Dictionary (both retiring)
  • Color Palette:  Night of Navy, Real Red, Whisper White, Basic Black
  • Accessories:  Colored Pencils (non-SU), All is Calm Washi (Clearance Rack), Stampin’ Dimensionals

This image is intentionally a little stark – I think it adds to the feeling of missing someone.  That washi tape was serendipitous, as in my mind it looks quite USPS-y.  (That’s a word because I wrote it out and that makes it so.)

Maui Stamper For the BirdsDon’t be afraid of coloring pencils – they’re very easy to use and the colors are very forgiving.  Plus there’s always an eraser.  Really, I should use pencil more often.

A Sweet and Feminine Tag

One of the tags we made in the Collage Tags class a week ago was this Blush Blossom confection:

Everyone’s tags turned out a little differently – because everyone stamps a little differently!  Collage is such a fun technique, but it does take a LOT of different images to work.

Making Manly Cards

There are a lot of wonderful men in my life, and I like to send cards to them.  But oh, do I struggle to come up with Manly Ideas!  This one is very loosely based on page 109 of the new catalog:

This is for my dad for Father’s Day:  a no-nonsense kind of card for a no-nonsense man.  He doesn’t say a lot, but he ends every phone call with “Love ya, kid” and I know he means it.  I’m looking forward to seeing him and my Mom for a few days before convention.  That’s coming soon!

 

 

Blendabilities, blendabilities, wherefore art thou, blendabilities?

One of the most exciting products in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog is only available to demonstrators at this time.  The Blendabilities product line has been delayed for release to customers for production reasons, and should be available in late June or early July – stay tuned!  In the meantime, I’ve been dutifully playing with mine so that you will have the opportunity to enjoy them vicariously 🙂 Maui Stamper Razzleberry Blendabilities

And unsurprisingly, I learned that I don’t really understand lighting and shadows.

I also learned that I LOVE to color with Blendabilities!!  No streaking, no uneven color, just rich, beautiful, saturated tones.  The process of going back and forth over your image does create some bleed through on the back of the image, and I recommend that you plan on layering your image to disguise that.

Simple and Sweet

The Sweet Sayings Cards and Envelopes are Grrrrrrrrrreat!!Maui Stamper Sweet Sayings Handmade Cards(I think my demographic may be showing…does anyone else remember Tony the Tiger?)

And now for something completely different…

Maui Stamper Sweet Sayings Handmade CardsChange the font (this is from Oh, Hello) and create my own DSP with the Dictionary background set and it’s a Manly Card – even with those cute squiggles and tiny hearts at the bottom.

Maui Stamper Sweet Sayings Handmade CardsYet another look – very girly – with a sentiment from Four You and the fabulous little blooms from Petite Petals.  It’s hard to see in the photo, but the Coastal Cabana panel is embossed with Perfect Polka dots and carried through with the pierced line on the Whisper White oval (love those piercing guides!!)

Love These Fresh Prints!

My Crystal Ball says there’s going to be a lot of Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Crumb Cake in my future:

Maui Stamper Hip Notes Fresh Prints It’s not often that I find a Designer Series paper pack that I love so thoroughly, but Fresh Prints is that pack.  The colors are – wait for it – so FRESH!  (Had to be said.  I’m not sorry.)  The designs are really easy to use, and there’s a good balance of white-based patterns versus color based patterns, so they mix well.

And do you love that brad?  I love the candy dots, but I was looking for something else.  This little bitty button-brad is a Vintage Trinket and I think it has a low enough profile to slide past the USPS Fat Envelope Fighters.  (I know, they have a job to do – but I’m still gonna try!)

When I first saw the little banner punch in the 2014 Sale-a-bration catalog, I though “meh”.  I mean, I can cut a banner.  It’s easy!  Whoa man, not as easy as punching…and there’s a stamp set that coordinates with this punch too.  Start planning your SAB orders, my friends, because you will find yourself with a big case of the “Gimmees” when January 28 rolls around.  Need a catalog?  Just let me know!
