Counting the days

I’m a list maker.  You’d think that would mean I get things done on time, but, well, not so much.  At least I know how much I didn’t get done.

This time of the year my list gets a little crazier than usual.  For example, demonstrators have had a peek at the upcoming Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs, and even though we’re deep in the Holiday crafting season, our minds are beginning to drift.  (OK, the truth is my mind is ALWAYS drifting.)  It’s new, it’s exciting, but there are other things that need to be taken care of first!!

In the interest of keeping tabs on the moment, here are a few things I’m wrapping up:

  • Holiday stamp sets are available at a 25% discount until November 30th – tomorrow.
  • I have a small inventory of DIY Easel Calendars and Refills available.  I’m not planning on making another run of these for 2017, so if you’d like one, I suggest you order it soon.

The DIY Easel Calendar kit is $9.00, and I also make a DIY Calendar Refill available for $6.00.  The calendar images are 3 1/2″ square, and the mats are 3 3/4″ square.

Did you make it through all of that?  Well, then, I hope you’ll enjoy this image of Mr. Maui Stamper and me on the Soldiers Pass trail in Sedona, Arizona.  My side of the family assembles from all over every Thanksgiving to tell stories, eat, drink, and enjoy the beautiful Red Rocks. However you spent your Thanksgiving weekend, I hope it was filled with good things.

RemARKable Goodies!

Welcome to the November RemARKable Blog tour! Although Thanksgiving is just a few days away, we’re looking ahead to Christmas.  After all, with pumpkin pie to bake (and eat) who has time for hours of Thanksgiving crafting?

RemARKable Blog Tour

Yesterday was the Maui Stampers & Friends 5th Annual Craft Fair, and these Cocoa and Sweets Easel Gifts flew out the door:

Maui Stamper Cocoa and Sweets Gift RemARKable Tour November 2016

I pulled out all sorts of resources for this one, but the base is Real Red and the Designer Series Paper is Presents and Pinecones from the Holiday catalog.  There are die cuts from the Stitched Shapes, Bear Hugs, and Perfect Pines framelits, and there’s a bit of the retired Real Red Pompom trim stapled to the side (that trim was the BEST!)

Maui Stamper Cocoa and Sweets Gift RemARKable Tour November 2016

The tree is embossed with the glorious Emerald Envy Glitter Embossing Powder, and I used a sponge dauber to add the same color the the bear’s Dazzling Diamonds Bow Tie.

These easel boxes fit perfectly in the 6″ x 17″ gusset cellophane bags – in fact, I think all my Christmas gifting is going to be in these bags.  Forget the “No Peeking” tags – peek all you want!!

Maui Stamper Cocoa and Sweets Gift RemARKable Tour November 2016

Our RemARKable leader, Jan, posted a video demonstrating just how easy it is to make these easel boxes.  The size is easily adapted to customize to your needs, and you can use up all of those odds and ends of paper, embellishments and die cuts that are on your craft desk because you can’t bear to throw them away (Go on, confess, you know you hoard them! I certainly do!)

The 2017 DIY Easel Calendar has landed!

Whew! I’ve been cutting paper for what seems like forever, but the glorious result is that DIY Easel calendar kits are available for 2017.

Maui Stamper 2017 DIY Calendar Kit

Maui Stamper 2017 DIY Calendar Kit

If you’ve purchased before, or already have an easel, I am making the calendar pages and coordinating mats available separately.  They’re packaged in a clear envelope.

Not sure about the colors? Please consider that my camera and your monitor may not capture the exact hue and tone, but you’ll receive mats in the following colors:

Dapper Denim, Marina Mist, Emerald Envy, Cucumber Crush, Mint Macaron, Sweet Sugarplum, Real Red, Watermelon Wonder, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Tip Top Taupe, Delightful Dijon and Daffodil Delight.  If you want to take a better look, visit my Online Store to see the Stampin’ Up! card stock collection.

  • DIY Easel Calendar Kit is $9.00
  • DIY Calendar refill is $6.00

Many crafters have asked for the template over the years.  I do not sell the template.  I didn’t create it and I don’t own it, and the crafter who does own it does not want to sell it as a template.  These kits are the only way to purchase this particular calendar.

To order, leave a comment or email me directly at AnneMatasci@gmail.com.  I’ll need your order and your email address, and will send an invoice via Square.  At this time, I’m not shipping these outside of the United States.

Happy crafting!

That Silly Fox

I know.  I’ve used another retired stamp set this month.  You’ll have to forgive me as I create these calendars…well, about now!  And the Holiday catalog and all it’s beautiful images is sitting right there on my desk.

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar November 2016

  • Stamps:  Thankful Forest Friends (Holiday 2015, retired)
  • Color Palette:  Cajun Craze, Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Tangelo Twist, Wild Wasabi
  • Accessories:  Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Write markers

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar November 2016

I’ve begun to include Paper Snips in my Project Recipe when I fussy-cut an image.  If you haven’t taken the leap and treated yourself to this indispensable tool, I urge you to give them a try.  They aren’t expensive ($10) and you will be amazed by the precise work they make possible.  Stuff your stocking!

Check out what Crystal and Cheryl have done this month.

An Owl in the October Woods

Our calendar tour is a day late this month so that we could celebrate World Card Marking Day on October 1st.  This little owl in an autumn wood will watch over my kitchen for all of October:

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar October 2016

  • Stamps:  Among the Branches (Holiday 2015, retired)
  • Color Palette:  Tangelo Twist, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Early Espresso
  • Accessories:  Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar October 2016

In Hawaii, we have an endemic owl call the Pueo.  It’s a diurnal, or daytime owl, but I’ve seen them most often at dusk.  The silent flight of an owl overhead is always a spell-binding experience.

We don’t have many fall colors, but I’ve chosen to apply creative license to the tree my Pueo has chosen as a perch.

Visit Cheryl and Crystal to see their October calendars!

September Patterns

These calendars are petite, and even detailed hand-coloring doesn’t take long:

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar September 2016

  • Stamps:  Lighthearted Leaves (Holiday 2015, retired)
  • Color Palette:  Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Rich Raspberry
  • Accessories:  Leaflets Framelits (Holiday 2015, retired), Stampin’ Write markers

When you look at these three colors, they make a pretty bold statement.  But their color values are very similar, and I think that’s what makes them work so well together.  Color is a very personal decision, but I love this look.

I considered cutting out one leaf and popping it up on dimensionals, but when I added it to the calendar it didn’t do what I expected it would.  Sometimes less really is more.

Check out the calendars that Cheryl and Crystal have designed for September.

Maui Stamper 2016 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog

The Holiday Catalog is LIVE today – check it out HERE!  And be SURE to stop by tomorrow for my first ever Maui Stamper Holiday Catalog Favorite Things!!!

August on the Farm

I’m smitten with these little farm critters:

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar August 2016

  • Stamps:  Barnyard Babies
  • Color Palette:  Mint Macaron, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Blushing Bride, Soft Suede
  • Accessories:  Paper snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Aquapainter

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar August 2016

It’s therapeutic to watercolor these three friends, and I didn’t mind fussy-cutting that little bitty billy goat.  The longer I enjoy this craft, the more I don’t mind doing the little things that help me feel satisfied with my end result.

Now mosey on over, y’all, and see what Crystal and Cheryl have done with their calendars for August.

A July Calendar that’s NOT Red-White-and-Blue

I finally did it! I broke out of the Fourth of July, Red-White-and-Blue bonds!

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar July 2016

  • Stamps:  Watercolor Wings, Botanical Blooms (2016 Occasions)
  • Color Palette:  Pear Pizazz, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe (still retired)
  • Accessories:  Butterflies Thinlits, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar July 2016

It’s addicting to play with the Watercolor Wings layers – there are so many options.  I really do have to apologize for using Crisp Cantaloupe two months in a row.  It was sitting on my desktop and I’m quite sure it was taunting me.  I think that’s how I was able to break the Red-White-and-Blue-bonds!!

Time to check out the fireworks that Cheryl and Crystal have to share this month.

Dragonflies for June

There are dragonflies in my backyard, and I love to watch them hover and swoop over the water – they inspired the June calendar:

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar June 2016

  • Stamps:  Awesomely Artistic
  • Color Palette:  Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder, Crisp Cantaloupe (retired)

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar June 2016

I ought to apologize for using Crisp Cantaloupe, but I just can’t do that.  I bought it, I kept it, and I love it – it wasn’t my decision to retire it!!  If you’ve got it, rock it.

Visit Crystal and Cheryl to see their June calendars!

May Flowers

The soft tones in this month’s calendar welcome May to my kitchen counter:

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar May 2016

  • Stamps:  You’re Sublime (available wood and clear mount)
  • Color Palette:  Lost Lagoon, Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizazz, So Saffron, Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral, Watermelon Wonder, Smoky Slate
  • Accessories:  Blender pen, Stampin’ Write marker

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar May 2016

I gave my blender pens another chance and loved the soft tones I was able to achieve.  The images are smaller – just right to practice.  And I’m in love with this curious little wheelbarrow!

Take a look at the calendars that Cheryl and Crystal have created this month.
