Etch-a-Bird, Etch-a-Herd

I’ve seen it, you’ve seen it, we’ve all seen it – but I still had to make it:Maui Stamper Etch a BirdThis card is so much fun to make!  It’s all over Pinterest, and I’ve seen the design credited to so many different people that I can’t trace it back to one person – and I’ve tried.  If this was your concept before the rest of the universe claimed it, YOU ROCK!

Maui Stamper Etch-a-BirdI chose the Host set Hello Love for this version, as my Hostess Club requested Valentines this month.

Maui Stamper Etch-a-BirdThe sentiment on the inside is from the January My Paper Pumpkin subscription kit.  Purchase a 3 month subscription during Sale-a-bration and save!  Current Paper Pumpkin subscribers can purchase any of the available past kits or past kit refills (first comes with stamps, second does not).

Maui Stamper Etch-a-HerdThis is the version that started the stampede.  From the Herd was my first choice stamp set from the Occasions 2015 catalog and it is perfect for this card.  We all had a pretty good laugh over the faces on these critters.  I had to resist the urge to color in a face – any face.  It wouldn’t be true to the concept.  But i wanted to do it.

Maui Stamper Etch-a-HerdI mean, what’s not to love?

If you want to make this card just as you see it, you’ll need From the Herd and Teeny Tiny Wishes (for Happy Valentines’ Day).  You’ll need Real Red, Sahara Sand, Shimmer White, Whisper White and Vellum cardstock.  This card also uses the Big Shot and the Project Life Cards and Labels Framelits, a 1″ circle punch, and the Project Life Corner Rounder.  The only ink you’ll use will be Memento Black.

Look through your stash and pull out your line art stamps.  I’ll bet  you have one that’s just perfect for this card!

You Make Me Happy: February 2015

Is it February already?  Oh, my…time for a new calendar:

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar February 2015I started thinking Valentines, but ultimately just kept the pink color and skipped the holiday.  Pink is such a happy color.  It’s a different sort of happy from yellow, a calmer, more serene kind of happy – at least to me.

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar February 2015 “You make me happy” seems a lot like “I like your face”, but said more subtly.

The first of every month we have a teensy weensy DIY calendar blog hop, so go see what Cheryl and Crystal are doing for February.

And be happy!

RemARKable Pinworthy New Beginnings

It’s the second Thursday and that means another RemARKable Pinworthy tour!  We’re celebrating new beginnings this month and I found the PERFECT stamp set:  Hello Love!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveHow is it possible to resist these cheeky little birds??  This set covers so many card occasions.  Haven’t noticed it?  It’s in the back of the catalog with the Host sets – more on that later.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveThose little pearls are colored with Blendabilities, a card maker’s  best friend.  I used Versamark and my Baked Brown Sugar FFIP to emboss that little birdie.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveOn the inside is the companion bird – this little chub cracks me up!!  I chose to use the Aquapainter to give him a softer, watercolored look.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveThese soft, Lullaby DSP colors are just as suited to a wedding or bridal shower – I inked the bird on the arrow but left off the ends this time.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveThe messages fit perfectly into the word bubble, and the Word Bubble framelits eliminate the need for fussy cutting.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveThe tattle-tale message is on the inside of the card this time!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveThis set has such versatile images – when I saw the sun I knew I had to make an all yellow – well, an all Hello Honey – card!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveLullaby DSP and the Decorative Dots TIEF add texture to this simple layout.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveI used markers again to hand-color the stamped message inside the card.  It takes just a minute, and it’s a big WOW punch.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveThe mix of patterns in the Lullaby DSP is really versatile – although it’s called Lullaby, the name really reflects the colors more than the patterns.  And although many of the images in the Hello Love set are small, they work well with creative card layouts.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveDoesn’t this bird look like it has a baby bump?  SERIOUSLY???

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Hello LoveThe way the images in Hello Love all work together makes me really happy.  Oh Happy Day!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Pinworthy Tour Lullaby DSP and Color PaletteI used what you might consider the “Boy” palette from Lullaby – Pistachio Pudding, Hello Honey, Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana and Whisper White – sounds like dessert!
