WINTERLY TREE TOPS WREATH

Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper is a great way to step up a card with a minimum of effort and bulk. Today’s Winterly Tree Tops card uses both the Country Woods (all time fave!) and Nature’s Sweetness DSP options to set the stage for a holiday card.

  • Stamps: Winterly Tree Tops, Greetings of the Season
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Real Red, Mossy Meadow, Pretty Peacock, Gold
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Winterly TreeTops dies, Spotlight on Nature dies, Regal Flora dies, Country Woods DSP, Nature’s Sweetness DSP, Iridescent Adhesive Discs, Stampin’ Blends, Stampin’ Dimensionals

That beautiful red filigree is from Regal Flora, and I cut it in half so it would reach from side to side on the card front. It’s a nice alternative to ribbon when you’re looking for a way to tie together two parts of a card.

The Spotlight on Nature dies pair very well with the Deckled Circle dies to create a layer that makes you think wreath but allows that beautiful greenery at the top to take center stage.

Winterly Tree Tops is really versatile! If you’re ready to add it to your stash, shop the Online Store.

VARIATIONS ON NATURE’S SWEETNESS

Lately I’ve been working on variations using one layout. It’s a good way for me to explore lots of options, and if I’ve prepped extras for a group, it’s a good way to complete the project with some variations so I don’t get bored (I don’t like production!) I found a full package of Nature’s Sweetness DSP and had fun with this layout:

  • Stamps: Citrus Blooms
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Memento Black
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Deckle Circle Dies, Citrus Blooms Dies, Nature’s Sweetness DSP, Gold Foil Sheets, Adhesive Back Metallic Gems, Stampin’ Blends, Wink of Stella, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The DSP is embedded with gold flecks, so the gems and gold foil were a natural addition. I added Wink of Stella to the blossoms to carry out the sparkle theme, and because everything is better with Wink of Stella.

The flag cut at the bottom of the text panel is easy to accomplish. Make a snip in the center of the bottom of a strip of DSP – I don’t measure, but if it makes you happy, go for it. The deeper you make the snip, the more pronounced your flag will be. I usually make a pretty shallow snip because you can always cut off more.

Once you have that snip, cut from each corner to the top of the snip and you’ll have an even flag.

This variation uses the Lovely and Sweet Stamp set. I chose Pecan Pie and Old Olive Blends to color this one.

Last but not least is Layers of Beauty in Poppy Parade and Shy Shamrock. I cut the image with the coordinating dies, then used my snips to cut it down so it would fit on the card front.

Do you have a favorite? I’m partial to the Citrus Blooms version, which is my DIY Easel Calendar page for July.
