DOUBLE POINT CARD: WINTERLY TREETOPS

I came across the Winterly Meadow Designer Series Paper in my craft room the other day and started to play. The card design is called Double Point, and it’s apparently been around for a while – but it’s new to me! It’s a perfect way to use our beautiful paper.

  • Color Palette: Basic White, Memento Black, Lost Lagoon, Pool Party, Wild Wheat, Blueberry Bushel, Shaded Spruce, Pretty Peacock
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut & Emboss Machine, Winterly Treetop dies, Spotlight on Nature dies, Stampin’ Blends, Iridescent 1/2″ trim, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I colored this birdie with Blends to make sure there was a perfect match with the DSP. I might have gotten a little silly with the Iridescent trim – I sliced it up into little strips. Can you use your imagination? Does it look just a little bit like a nest? Humor me.

The interior panel slides right out. I’ll add a sentiment in the center when I decide to send the card. I often leave off a sentiment if it’s easy to add at the last minute to give myself options.

I’m wondering if it’s worthwhile to make a tutorial for this card. I’m away from my craft desk for a few more days, but if you’re interested, leave a comment. In the meantime, you can shop for supplies in the Online Store.

SEAGULL FRIENDS: Connie Babbert CASE

Today’s card is a pretty close CASE of Connie Babbert’s card. My purpose was to recreate it without having to fussy cut all 3 of those seagulls 🤣. I fussy cut one for Wednesday’s card, and that was plenty!

CORNER IN BLOOM: BEAUTIFUL BEGINNINGS

Today’s Corner in Bloom is a square card, a format I don’t often use because it requires a special envelope and extra postage. But this card just begged to be a square, and I couldn’t say no. (Please don’t judge me for talking to my projects.)

As much as these flowers needed Daffodil Delight, that color was too much as the mat behind the colored image. I chose Lemon Lolly instead, and it’s surprising how much difference a small adjustment like that makes.

CORNER IN BLOOM: PETUNIA POP BIRTHDAY

Corner in Bloom is one of my favorite Sale-a-bration stamp sets, and while I’m not certain these flowers are petunias, I’m very happy to see them in Petunia Pop. These are happy flowers!

I’m gonna get real here: this didn’t work out the way I envisioned it. I’m not happy with the script from Elements of Text that was supposed to be in the background but ended up looking like I accidentally made a grocery list on my card. I tried to add it after everything else was done, and I should have taken the time to carefully mask off the sentiment and the flowers. Live and learn!

Instead, I took the time to add these flowers to the inside corners. This set comes with corners and single flowers from each corner, and it was the single flower I used to do this.

PRETTY IN PINK SLICE AND SLIDE

Can you stand one more Slice and Slide card? This one is very girly, all Pretty in Pink. I love working with In Colors because they are packed into so many collections – card stock, Designer Series Paper, markers, embellishments, you name it. It makes coordination so easy.

This is only half of the Layers of Beauty stamp, but using it this way leaves plenty of room for the sentiment. I slipped some Petunia Pop in there with Pretty in Pink because, well, it needed the POP!

Layers of Beauty is a 24-25 Annual Catalog bundle. It comes with stamps, dies and a set of masks designed to making the shading easy. I chose to use Stampin’ Blends for this card, but the masks are simple to use and do a beautiful job.

I know it’s only February, but it’s time to start thinking about the end of the 24-25 Annual Catalog. (Sorry, it’s the way my brain works.) If you’ve been meaning to add this bundle to your shopping cart, Sale-a-bration is a great time to do that. WINTERLY TREE TOPS WREATH

Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper is a great way to step up a card with a minimum of effort and bulk. Today’s Winterly Tree Tops card uses both the Country Woods (all time fave!) and Nature’s Sweetness DSP options to set the stage for a holiday card.

WINTERLY BIRDS IN THE TREETOPS

If you’ve followed me for very long, you’ll know I love my birdies. These two are quite the Winterly pair: they look as though they’re having a little spat. But they’re doing a good job of looking good while they do!

I used the grid from Spotlight on Nature to add some texture behind the pair. Texture is one of my favorite simple add-ons. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it doesn’t add any volume to the card. I took my coloring cues from that gorgeous Winter Meadow DSP, and I slipped in the Summer Splash ribbon even though it’s nit technically in the paper. I think it works!

ATTENTION SHOPPERS: PLANTS

I’ve enjoyed playing with all of the things meant to go INTO the shopping cart from Attention Shoppers. This little plant is sweet and simple, so instead of 3 as I did with the cake, I did a line of 5.

Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green make a bold, bright color combination. I love the way they contrast with the Smoky Slate stripe in the Country Lace DSP. Gray is an easy color to pair, and it’s not as stark as black when you’re want something a little softer. I love that we have grays that lean cool (Smoky Slate) and warm (Gray Granite).

I used both Lemon Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends for the leaves. You could easily use just one or the other if you don’t have both.

When I line up my row of plants (or whatever it is) I like to start with the middle. From there I put one on the left edge and one on the right edge and then I squeeze the two middle ones in place. (Yes, measure twice and all that…I made sure 5 would fit before I started.) I also place the middle one first when there are 3. It makes my symmetry-loving brain happy.

The background pieces are the same size, but they’re offset. I hand lettered the sentiment because I couldn’t find what I wanted to say. This card was intended for one of my favorite plant people.
