A Manly Convention Swap

I only signed up for one organized swap this year at Convention. If you’re only going to do one, you think it through pretty carefully – and when I thought it through, I made the decision to go Manly. Manly cards are a challenge, especially with a catalog full of flowers and butterflies. Don’t get me wrong – I love flowers and butterflies – but sometimes a girl needs a Manly card, and I was looking for inspiration.

I wanted to incorporate one of our 2015-2017 In Colors, and was pleased to find that Cucumber Crush would work. I’ll be honest: that’s the In Color I am having the greatest challenge using. When Christmas comes, it will get better, I’m sure.

I used the embossing buddy like mad, yet some of the cards still had some tiny white flecks. I think my embossing powder is suffering from life in the tropics – humidity is not a friend to embossing powder! If you’re having “stray bit” problems, try a new batch of EP and see if that helps. Although there are a lot of different elements to this tag, none of them are difficult to execute. I did fussy-cut the bird (LOVE THE BIRD) but World Cup soccer came to the rescue there. (I’m grateful it happened when it did as it was my entertainment while I was sick for 5 days, but I’m glad it’s over. Sheesh. That was a lot of Futbol.)

I’m really excited to see the tags the other swappers have to share! Convention is always such a great source of inspiration.

How do you say “Love You” in Monster?

Apparently the same way as you would in English – or perhaps this little monster is bilingual.

I sent a few Valentine packages this year – to my own kids and a few others that have a very special place in my heart. You know the kind….kids that for one reason or another just touch you. These kids have worked hard to get where they are, and they’re a long way from home. I just wanted to send them all a little love from home.

Just a few more Sweet Sayings cards…

I may or may not have become addicted to these pre-printed card bases:

I shared a few of these on Monday but they kept on calling me…so I made a few more!

The sentiment for this card is from Hip Notes, certainly one of my absolute favorites from the Occasions Catalog. If you look at that twine, you’ll realize it’s a little heavier than our Baker’s Twine. It’s a Sale-a-bration choice and includes 3 colors – Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit. It also includes die-cut cork embellishments, so stay tuned for those! And look twice – the dots on that TIEF are a new, exclusive pattern called Decorative Dots – another SAB Freebie!

Change up the sentiment and you could have a Valentine, but I needed thank you notes! The heart image is from Language of Love in the Occasions catalog, and though it’s hard to read it features a whole bunch of translations of the word love.
