INKED and TILED for a FRIEND

The sentiments in the Inked and Tiled stamp set are perfect for so many occasions: Thank You, Happy Birthday, Hello Friend. I like to use Hello Friend when I’m making a card for my stash. I can add another sentiment on the inside when I’m ready to send if I want to make it a birthday or thanks card.

A handmade card with 3 coral flowers on a white background and a printed paper panel on the side
  • Stamps: Inked and Tiled
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Lost Lagoon, Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo
  • Accessories: Big Boss, Basic Borders dies, Inked Botanicals DSP (on sale!), Stampin’ Dimensionals, Daubers

The leaf is inked in Lost Lagoon, stamped off, and then stamped 2nd and 3rd generations on the card. The color is applied to the floral stamp using daubers, which allow a lot of definition but in my opinion, provide a richer ink application than using the marker method.

The two border cut panels are created by sending Basic White and Lost Lagoon card stock through the Stamp, Cut and Emboss machine together with the corner die from the Basic Dies. They’re offset and the edge of the Basic White panel is turned under. The assembly is adhered as one piece to the card front.

I used MANY Stampin’ Dimensionals for this layer. It’s my card and I’ll do what I want!! You can also see where I turned under the Basic White panel. I like the resulting smooth edge.

To finish up, I diluted a single drop of Lost Lagoon ink in a tablespoon of water and used a brush to splatter the front, No ribbons, no gems, just a nice flat card for mailing!

    • Hi Jan, thanks so much for your kind words. The easiest way to do this for the first time is to use 4.25 x 5.5 (US measurements, standard card front size) for all 3 pieces. You can definitely get away with less DSP, but if you’re only making one you’ll save yourself some pain and suffering this way!

For this card, use a Basic White card base. Cover the front with DSP cut to the size of the card front (again, in the US, 4.25 x 5.5). Take the 2 pieces of coordinating card stock, layer them together, and align your edge die against the right-hand side. Run them through the SC&E machine and then carefully peel them apart. Offset them to get the reveal you want, then determine where you want them on your card front. Mark the edge for each piece separately and trim the piece that will be on the bottom. I scored and folded under the piece that goes on top to create a cleaner edge from the left side of the card.

Hope that helps! I appreciate your question.
      Aloha,
      Anne
