Saw this card and loved it so much I made my own copy:

I made very few changes to the original as Michelle did a beautiful job. One of the things I did change was to add a tiny bit of So Saffron in the lights and at the windows. I like the feeling of being at home that it creates.

RemARKable Winter Holidays

Welcome to the October RemARKable Pinworth Blog Tour. Our theme this month is Winter Holidays – and as the holidays draw closer, I’m thinking about non-traditional colors:

I’m pretty sure that Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay are non-traditional colors!! This nutcracker from the Santa Stache stamp set is perfectly suited for coloring with Blendabilities.

I’m not an expert by any means, but I’ve spent a while playing with facial tones, working with lines and shadows. My faces come out differently each time, but in a good way.

Experimenting with Blendabilities color collections has allowed me to find new combinations. The Night of Navy collection works very well with Pacific Point card stock.

I wouldn’t normally mix Rich Razzleberry with Pumpkin Pie and Night of Navy, but somehow when you’re coloring uniforms, the rules get a little blurry.

Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities come in set with a light, medium and dark shade so that you can play with light and shadow. I just wanted to color, so for the most part I stayed with a single tone.

Whimsical Houses

Who knew you could have so much fun with houses?

These are SUCH FUN to color. (The truth: I have ALWAYS loved to color!!) I’ve used both Stampin’ Write Markers and Blendabilities on these – the Stampin’ Write markers provide more options in the pastel range.

The Under the Tree Specialty DSP in the Holiday catalog is a heavy-weight paper that is just right for making tags, and the Angle Topper punch makes the same shape EVERY TIME. (I KNOW. Don’t you love it?)

That Glimmer Paper heart is punched with the Owl punch – that’s the teeniest heart punch we have.

It’s easy to coordinate Bakers’ Twine with your project – we have so many colors. These are quick to make – what are you waiting for?

It’s World Card Making Day! Did you know there was such a thing? It’s a great day to make – and send – a card!

Color Palette: Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Whisper White
Accessories: Back to Black DSP, Feathered Framelits, Crushed Curry Bakers Twine, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sponge Daubers

I used daubers to blend the colors on the tallest feather – and the Daffodil plus the Bermuda created a beautiful transitional green shade.

These feathers are addicting! Sometimes I neglect the inside of a card, but this one was for my BFF Cheryl.

Make a card, send a card…even if it’s tomorrow.

When you live on a small island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, separations happen. Sometimes they’re short term, sometimes they’re for a long time. Sometimes I really don’t like them. Most of the time, I put on my big girl pants and deal with it.

Fall Colors in the Flower Shop

This year for my October Easel Calendar I decided to take a break from Halloween:

I mean, Halloween is a lot of fun – and it’s a Really Big Deal in Hawaii – but I just couldn’t bring myself to look at spiders all month. Can you relate to that?

When I first order Flower Shop (AND the Pansy punch, of course – this kind of thing goes without saying) I discovered that Stampin’ Up! had pulled a bit of a fast one on us. The flower – and the punched image – are NOT symmetrical. You can’t just stamp that flower and punch it out any ol’ which-a-way. I developed a solution and posted a mini-tutorial: you can check it out HERE.

Celebrating the Festival of Trees

I don’t usually have the patience for Dazzling Diamonds. You have to WAIT for it to DRY. HUMMM. But I’m glad I waited.

This is the inside – the little ornament dots in the set make great snow, or raindrops, or just little random patterns. You choose.

Christmas a la Carte…on Maui

Every year about this time I get together with Crystal and we plan a Christmas Extravaganza. This year we’re doing it a little differently – it will be Open House style, so you can come when you’re able and leave when you must. You can choose to make one project, all the projects, or anything in between. We’re calling it Christmas a la Carte and it’s planned for Saturday, November 8.

You need to reserve and pay for your choices by Wednesday, October 22. The event will be held at the Maui Masonic Lodge, and you’ll need to BYO adhesive for the basic assembly. Let me know if you would like a fresh Tombo or SNAIL for your crafting pleasure, and I’ll add it to your class fee and have it waiting for you on the 8th.

Cheryl is helping with this too – I promise it will be a lot of fun!

It’s RemARKably Scary Fun!

Welcome to the September RemARKable Blog tour – our theme is Scary Fun this month! Crafters are always thinking a month or two in advance, although some of us (names omitted to protect the innocent) don’t actually DO anything until the last minute 🙂

Let’s start with little treats:

The Tiny Treat boxes are 2″ all the way around – not too big and not too small. Just the right size for Halloween-sized chocolate!

These monsters from Freaky Friends remind me of Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak – an all time favorite in the Stamper Household!

The Very Vanilla panel is 1 5/8″ wide and 9″ long. There are two small holes in the lid which I used to thread the Two-Tone trim. I had help, too:

One more treat package:

The Decorative masks – Stripes and Dots or Hearts and Stars – are some of my favorites from the 2014-2015 catalog. A couple of minutes with a dauber and POW! Magic!

Did you see the images stamped right on the clothespin? We have big ones now, too!

Last but not least, a Halloween card to share a giggle. In my case, there’s a long story behind a broken vacuum in the Stamper household, and the broom really is getting a workout.

The goofy owl sees that broom and is worried it may be destined for her.
