Lotsa Hedgie Love

Hedgehog, groundhog, whatever – it’s February, and if Puxatawny Phil sees his shadow tomorrow, legend has it there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Here on Maui, that’s not much of a concern – maybe it just means the whales will stay a bit longer.

Love You Lots is my favorite host reward stamp set. If you enjoy following my calendars, I’m warning now you that you’ll see this set again. It won’t be available after May 31, 2017, so if you like it, you might want to take action now. Just sayin’.

Coloring the hedgies was pretty simple. I used the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write marker to accent the stamped lines on their bodies and then used an Aquapainter to add a little wash to both their bodies and as a ground. That little touch of Sweet Sugarplum is my nod to Valentines Day on the 14th.

Sending RemARKable Love

Welcome to the January 2017 RemARKable Blog tour. Our focus this month is Sending Love – which in addition to a wonderful practice, is a fabulous Stampin’ Up! product suite!

I’ve taken the obvious route and chosen Valentines, but these projects could easily be adapted to other expressions of love – wedding, anniversary, or just Love ya, Babe!

This is our fabulous Popcorn Box thinlit made up in Blushing Bride. There’s a panel of Falling in Love DSP behind all of that embellishment, as well as a Delicate White Doily spritzed with Sahara Sand and smushed for texture. (SMUSH is an active verb.)

Stitched Shapes Framelits will be available again on January 16th – be ready to order!! Product #145372 will cost $30 and will be sold as supplies last.

The Sealed With Love set sentiment is stamped twice with Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand – photopolymer stamps make the placement easy as can be!

I LOVE the Sending Love Glassine Sheets, and they are perfect for creating the little envelopes in the Love Notes Framelits. I also love how that row of hearts fits perfectly across the top of the little note insert.

The TIEF is called Falling Petals, but let’s be serious. They’re hearts. Sheesh. {wink}

A New Year, a new calendar

New. There’s so much promise in that word – but there’s uncertainty as well. New is different, fresh, and sometimes uneasy. New is exciting and invigorating, but it is also unpredictable and challenging. I love a new year, a new calendar, a fresh start. I set goals, make plans, and dream big dreams. And I make a brand new DIY Easel Calendar!

Goodies from the besties

I have the BEST club members ever. Some of these fabulous women have been crafting around my dining table for longer than any of us would like to advertise. They have been the backbone of my business as well as the keepers of my sanity. And they were here last week.

You NEED the Cookie Cutter Christmas bundle. I’m telling you, it is my GO TO choice for just about everything this season. Desiree put the Gingerbread Cookie on the side of this box decorated with washi – big savings there – and added the Jolly Hat (punch is on sale too!) with a little jingle bell on the end! Inside the box was the BEST BROWNIE you can buy – Big Island Candies Dark Chocolate Macadamia Nut Brownie. AMAZING.

The Jolly Hat got a workout! Robbie perched it on the end of a Stitched Shapes Framelit Circle – you DID get yours, didn’t you???? They can’t be ordered right now, but word is they will be available in January while supplies last. I’ll let you know – don’t miss out!

It’s hard to see, but the base of these goodies is a red spoon – and Vicki just finished the costuming for Mary Poppins, so her inspiration is spot on! Glimmer paper takes any project to the next level of sparkle.

Packaging for little things

This time of year, I need heaps of little gifts. I like to express appreciation to my postal carrier, the FedEx and UPS delivery folks, and all the people who make my life easier throughout the year. This little treat holder works well and is compact enough to tuck in my (biggish) handbag:

A note on Stitched Shapes Framelits: Stampin’ Up! has announced that this hot new product will be available again in January. If you missed the availability in November, I urge you to mark your calendars and place an order as soon as they become available. I’ll keep you posted.

One of the tricks I’ve found for getting a clear impression when using a solid photopolymer stamp is to clean the stamp on the Stampin’ Scrub BEFORE inking it. I spritz the Scrub with some Stampin’ Mist and give the stamp a good scrub, and it seems to condition the surface and give me better results. This isn’t scientific, it’s just what I do!

On the back of the easel is a little pocket for a note, a little cash, or a gift card. The Easel fits nicely in our 3″ gusset bags, and with a bit of ribbon and a tag on the top it dresses up beautifully for a more elegant presentation.

If you’re planning on making a DIY Calendar this year, I’m all out of Easel Kits at the moment. There are half a dozen or so Calendar refills available, and I don’t envision printing any more. The point is that if you’d like a Calendar Refill, you need to let me know sooner than later.

The Refill is $6 plus postage. One calendar fits in a regular envelope and will ship First Class for $.68. More than that – I’ll have to quote you. Send your request to AnneMatasci@gmail.com and I’ll get back to you with an invoice.

Year-End closeouts are going quickly. To clarify the offering, there are three categories:

The Merry Month of December

December is here, and it will surely be merry!

The Red Foil is luxurious! I find the Fine Tip Glue pen to be indispensable when it’s time to adhere these words.

A word about retired products: Yes, I realize it’s frustrating when you want to re-create a project and you don’t have access to the exact product that was used. At the same time, I’m not presenting these calendars as a class. They are for your enjoyment and inspiration, and I encourage you to look around your craft space for options. Explore! Improvise! Be creative – it’s such a glorious process.

Counting the days

I’m a list maker. You’d think that would mean I get things done on time, but, well, not so much. At least I know how much I didn’t get done.

This time of the year my list gets a little crazier than usual. For example, demonstrators have had a peek at the upcoming Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogs, and even though we’re deep in the Holiday crafting season, our minds are beginning to drift. (OK, the truth is my mind is ALWAYS drifting.) It’s new, it’s exciting, but there are other things that need to be taken care of first!!

In the interest of keeping tabs on the moment, here are a few things I’m wrapping up:

Holiday stamp sets are available at a 25% discount until November 30th – tomorrow.
I have a small inventory of DIY Easel Calendars and Refills available. I’m not planning on making another run of these for 2017, so if you’d like one, I suggest you order it soon.

The DIY Easel Calendar kit is $9.00, and I also make a DIY Calendar Refill available for $6.00. The calendar images are 3 1/2″ square, and the mats are 3 3/4″ square.

Shipping is by USPS and will be sent First Class or Priority Mail. I ship the best possible method at the best possible price and will calculate based on what you order. Typically, a single Calendar refill can be sent in a First Class envelope with postage of $.68. Easel Calendar Kits are shipped Priority Mail Small Flat Rate with postage of $6.80. I can ship multiple kits in one box.

RemARKable Goodies!

Welcome to the November RemARKable Blog tour! Although Thanksgiving is just a few days away, we’re looking ahead to Christmas. After all, with pumpkin pie to bake (and eat) who has time for hours of Thanksgiving crafting?

Yesterday was the Maui Stampers & Friends 5th Annual Craft Fair, and these Cocoa and Sweets Easel Gifts flew out the door:

I pulled out all sorts of resources for this one, but the base is Real Red and the Designer Series Paper is Presents and Pinecones from the Holiday catalog. There are die cuts from the Stitched Shapes, Bear Hugs, and Perfect Pines framelits, and there’s a bit of the retired Real Red Pompom trim stapled to the side (that trim was the BEST!)

The tree is embossed with the glorious Emerald Envy Glitter Embossing Powder, and I used a sponge dauber to add the same color the the bear’s Dazzling Diamonds Bow Tie.

These easel boxes fit perfectly in the 6″ x 17″ gusset cellophane bags – in fact, I think all my Christmas gifting is going to be in these bags. Forget the “No Peeking” tags – peek all you want!!

Our RemARKable leader, Jan, posted a video demonstrating just how easy it is to make these easel boxes. The size is easily adapted to customize to your needs, and you can use up all of those odds and ends of paper, embellishments and die cuts that are on your craft desk because you can’t bear to throw them away (Go on, confess, you know you hoard them! I certainly do!)
