Maui Stamper Cheerful Critters I Like Your FaceI guess I’m a pretty lucky girl, because there were two friends that came to mind IMMEDIATELY when I saw that stamp, and naturally I had to make two cards.

Maui Stamper Cheerful Critters I Like Your FaceSame card, different layout.  The Polka Dot TIEF circles are 3/4″ circles, so you can punch a template in a scrap and place it over the embossed circle so that you can add color with a dauber.

Speaking of liking faces, I had the tremendous pleasure of meeting one of my blog readers.  Annette and her husband have been regular Maui visitors for a number of years, and she contacted me late last year to say she would be here.  We had breakfast and talked long enough that our server hinted broadly that they needed our table 🙂  We weren’t done, so we took a long walk up and down South Kihei Road.  Thanks so much, Annette, for sharing your holiday with me!

Crystal and I stamped together last week in her new studio.  She’s gonna kill me for this…

Maui Stamper and HannieJoy and Co.She’s been stamping in her garage since the arrival of The Littles (her twins) last April.  (They came a month early, and she was supposed to be off that month, and We Had Plans for that time.  Oh well.  I digress.)  We had a great set-up out in the garage, but it was chilly by Maui standards and we had to bundle up.

But back to the Critters – we were cracking up over the images and the sentiments.  She kept saying “I LIKE YOUR FACE” in one of those all-caps kind of voices.  It’s not a sentiment you’d send to your great-aunt, unless you are very fortunate to have That Sort of great-aunt.

Maui Stamper Cheerful Critters Be Mine I used a Stampin’ Write marker on just the words from the You Plus Me set.  Can’t you just see this little guy standing on the side of the road holding this sign?  I am truly smitten.

Going Ombre with the Blendabilities

Maui Stamper Ombre Blendabilities Best.Day.Ever.I used the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities.  I began at the top with the lightest color, working to about halfway down.  I dropped to the bottom with the darkest color and filled up about 1/3 of the card face .  I used the middle tone from the middle of the darkest color to blend up to just above the point where the light color began, then switched back to the light color to blend down into the mid-range tone.  Clear as mud?  Just play with it.  And if you have a little ink on the white resist portion of the paper, use the Color Remover to wipe it away.  Have fun with this technique!  There are so many possibilities.

Maui Stamper Warm WishesWarm Wishes was featured in last year’s Holiday catalog and although it’s retired I couldn’t help but share this idea.  You could get pretty creative with some Stampin’ Sponges and come close to this – but Warm Wishes was faster.

A wreath for all seasons

I love this wreath – it’s so versatile:

Maui Stamper Wondrous WreathThis goes together more quickly than you would think, and I love the layers of texture.  The Pool Party layer is embossed with the Perfect Polka dots TIEF that echos the gold embossed berries on the wreath.

Maui Stamper Wondrous WreathThe gold Bakers Twine is just pressed into a glue dot on either end, then pressed onto the back of the wreath and the Gold Glimmer heart.  Quick, I tell you!

And as you can see, it’s possible to just stamp that wreath all willy-nilly and have it come out ok.  At least in my eyes {wink}

The Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask is an under-appreciated accessory – it takes just moments to sponge details exactly where you want them – in this case a starry sky behind a big full moon and a sleigh full of toys and Saint Nicholas too!

Maui Stamper Holiday Homes by MoonlightI created the windows by stamping the house on Whisper White card stock and cutting them out – they’re rectangles, it’s easy – and adhering them to the house with a smidge of Tombo.  And yes, smidge is a real measurement.
