Lots of new goodies in the Clearance Rack tonight (Maui Time) – but you know the name of the song: While Supplies Last!

Production is not my jam, but I made 20 of these cards for a Fun-Fold swap at Stampin’ Up! leadership last month in Las Vegas. My absolute FAVE Inked Botanicals DSP was the star of this Square Double Z-Fold card.

There’s a bit of cutting involved to get all the pieces, but after that it’s pretty much glue, glue, glue! The paper does all the heavy lifting for this card. Because I made so many, I did some mixing and matching of color and pattern:

The pattern across the bottom is the same, but I used 3 different Lost Lagoon papers for the front. There were also variations for the Crushed Curry panel on the inside.

The card base is 8 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ scored at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″. The narrow band across the bottom is 8 1/2″ x 1 1/4″ with the same scoring. All DSP is 1/8″ narrower on both sides to create a narrow margin for the mat. I chose a rectangular panel from Scalloped Contour dies for my focal point, but many other shapes would work well.
Have you made a Z-fold? A Double Z? I’d love to know how you coordinated the panels. And if you need some of that yummy Inked Botanicals Designer Series paper, shop the Online Store. Tell them I sent you 😁

WORLD CARD MAKING DAY IS COMING! You’re invited to craft along – register for this FREE event on October 7. Download the project sheets HERE and HERE.

I’m really excited to share a sneak peek of a new product. The September-December Mini catalog debuts our first set of layering masks called Abundant Beauty. See if you think that’s an appropriate name:

I gave my Blending Brushes a workout. It’s easy to align the masks as they are numbered AND have a notch in each layer so you can register them accurately. There are 3 sizes of flowers on the masks, but I chose the smallest one and repeated it.

I used masking paper to cover the 2 flowers that I placed directly on the calendar, and then brushed some leaves (a bit randomly, I’d say) around them. I brushed a third flower on a scrap of Basic White and cut it out with my snips.

The color combinations are ENDLESS. I expect this to be a really popular item, so shop the Online Store early! The Mini is available beginning September 6th.
I’ve had a number of requests for the 2024 DIY Calendar template. I’d intended to offer it early this month, but the wildfires on Maui have been very disruptive. My family and I are fine, and our home was unaffected, but our island is like a small town. I appreciate your patience – I’ll make the calendar available soon.
Cheryl is taking a break in September, but Crystal has a calendar for you. Take a look at her beautiful calendar! And thanks for stopping by today.

Just a few more days until our September – December Mini Catalog is available to everyone! Customers can place orders beginning September 6th. Let me know if you need a copy!

I don’t have the words to tell you what I am feeling.
We are devastated by the multiple fires on our island. The loss is incomprehensible. The fires upcountry, on the side of Haleakalā, are not yet under control. The fires on the West Side are reported at 80% contained this morning, but the images we’ve seen are heartbreaking. Lāhainā town is gone.
Lāhainā was so much more than shops and restaurants. It is a place in the heart of Hawaiian history, the capital of the Kingdom of Hawai’i in the early 1800’s. The buildings, the land, even the trees were steeped in history. Generations have lived there, worked there, raised families there – and it is gone.
The losses upcountry are also extensive, but most reports indicate that they are property losses, not loss of life. Currently, there are 53 deaths reported in the Lāhainā area and over 1,700 structures destroyed.
We are safe. Our neighborhood has not been in danger. There is a sense of the surreal as we look outside and see sunshine and blue skies. The smoke on the horizon, especially visible at sunset, is the only visual clue to what is happening on our island home.
Thank you to the many people who have reached out. If you are able to make a financial gift, please consider the Hawai’i Community Foundation Maui Strong fund. It grieves me to have to say that the scammers are out there, so exercise due diligence. It will take years, perhaps decades, for our community to recover.
Please pray for our firefighters as well as all who have suffered unfathomable loss.

Oh these chunky little birds have stolen my heart! There’s something about the Bird’s Eye View crew that enchants me. These three are colored with Stampin’ Blends, and there’s a little color riddle in this calendar – do you see it?

I’m always torn when new birdies show up in the catalog, because I might already have a *few* bird stamps. But I’m certain I don’t have any birds wearing glasses, so that gave me the justification I needed to add The View to my Stampin’ Collection.

After I stamped this little family, I decided they needed something upon which to stand. Fortunately, the Easter Bunny was more than willing to share a little grass, and masking paper made sure the grass remained in the background.

I know I say this every month, but this month I will REALLY enjoy my desktop calendar!! Be sure and see what Cheryl and Crystal have done this month. And if you don’t have your own Bird’s Eye View Crew, I think it’s time you shop the Online Store.

Beginning today, August 1st, you can redeem your Bonus Days coupons! Your unique codes, delivered by email in July with your $50 order, can be spent through August 31st.

I’m a late arrival to Season of Chic, but I’m now a true believer. It’s a versatile two-step stamping collection, and that makes it perfect for this simple watercolor technique:

Do you have a favorite demonstrator (or two) whose work you never grow tired of? For me, Tami Hewlett is one of those people. She recently shared a stunning card showcasing a simple watercolor technique, and I really wanted to give it a try. Ink is applied to the stamp and the stamp is misted with water. Once it’s been stamped on watercolor paper, details are added using the two-step stamping technique.

I don’t have the Tropical Leaf Bundle that she used, but these flowers made me happy. I tried a number of color combinations, and the range of yellows and purples were very satisfying. For this technique, it makes a big difference to have that two-step outline. It adds shape and definition to the soft, flowing watercolor.

I originally intended to use Orchid Oasis with Starry Sky, but the combination was too dark and didn’t have enough contrast. Highland Heather provided the balance I needed.
Each flower is unique, depending on where I placed the ink and how much water it got from the Spritzer. Tami applied the darker ink direct to the stamp, but I found it gave me more control to use a dauber.

The watercolor paper makes a big difference. It absorbs the water, distributing the color evenly without distortion of the paper.
What color combination would you choose? I’m looking for more ideas! If you’d like to try this technique, shop for Season of Chic stamps and dies, or Tami’s choice, the Tropical Leaf bundle. Either way, I’m confident you’ll have a lot of fun!

The Hello Irresistible Designer Series paper makes another appearance today with Share a Milkshake. The combination of Lost Lagoon and Lemon Lolly is truly irresistible!

The little cone was my starting point. When it popped out of the die, I confess: I squealed! You need to understand that ice cream is one of my family’s Love Languages. Growing up, there were always at least 4 different flavors in the freezer. We are serious about this stuff!

I’m not sure what flavor a Lost Lagoon scoop would be, but it looks pretty good with Lemon Lolly so I’ll let you use your imagination.
Which of these 3 versions of Hello Irresistible do you like best??

That grid pops out of the die just perfectly, and it creates a bunch of gorgeous little rectangular shapes. I let them sit in a little heap for a long time before I swept them into the round file. I’m sure I’ll think of a use for them later.
In the meantime, shop the Online Store for Share a Milkshake and Irresistible You! You’ll find Hello, Irresistible only in the Online Store and only in the Online Exclusives!

I love the Biggest Wish stamp set. And it’s on sale today, along with all Annual Catalog stamp sets (does not include host, bundle or online exclusive.) I put “HELLO friend” together with a punched textural background for a quick card with a Big Wish:

I have some very old Lost Lagoon ribbon, but I chose to keep this card current. I cut some Lost Lagoon paper into narrow strips and adhered them behind the circle focal point for a simple embellishment.

These punched elements are really easy to align for this technique! Punch a dozen and you’re ready to go – these were easy to do by eye. Biggest Wish has all the words you need in fonts that work together.

Biggest Wish is on sale TODAY July 19th for 15% off – along with all the Annual Catalog stamp sets (this sale excludes Host, Bundle and Online Exclusive stamps). Spend $50 and you’ll qualify for a Bonus Days coupon and save twice! Shop the Online Store now.

I’m still playing with DIY backgrounds. I’ve found that punches work well as every piece is the same size and shape. Best Label created a lot of texture!

I confess that I grew a little weary of lining up and adhering all those little Best Labels. Don’t look too closely, as they’re not perfectly straight! If I were to make another, I would use pencil lines or washi tape to create a grid, but I was feeling bold and trusted my eye to get it straight. Oops.

The little hearts are from Country Bouquet. Since they’re open, they’re a light-touch accent to the sentiment. I thought about adding some Lemon Lolly Solid Gems but left them off in favor of the little floral clusters from the Textured Floral dies.

I hope you’re inspired to have some fun creating backgrounds with punches. Maybe I’ll try a little larger one next time 😁 Have a look at the Online Store.

I’m still playing with Designer Series Paper, and found a fun way to add a little interest. I’ve cut this sheet from Hello Irresistible into tiles and reassembled them as a background. An embellished sentiment from Textured Floral is all it needs!

Each tile is 1 1/4″ x 1 5/8″. You can use a pencil line, washi tape, or your trusty eyeballs to get them straight. I like to lay everything out before I adhere it, then put down the left and right top corners. Then I center the middle piece on those two.
I’ll do the left row top to bottom next in the same way. Once those two lines are set, the rest are easy to match up. It sounds harder than it is, trust me!

Lemon Lolly is my new favorite ink. Well. This week it is. Ask me in a few more days.

All my die envelopes are labeled with BIG letters. It doesn’t take much time, and it saves me a lot of hunting and bad-word-muttering. (Never fear, this would be things like “dang it” and “rats”. I’ve cleaned up quite a bit.)
Ready to make one of these? Trust me, once you’ve done one you’ll do a dozen. Stick around and you’ll see what I mean. 😉 Need supplies? Find yours at the Online Store.
