Pink October Round Two

I’m back in the pink!  A couple of weeks ago I pulled out the Touches of Texture set and put it to the Pink Test.

Maui Stamper Touches of Texture

Maui Stamper Touches of Texture

Crumb Cake is my go-to neutral with soft tones like pinks and pale blues.  For this card, I pulled in a lot of pink tones – Pirouette, Blushing Bride, and the 2016-2018 In Color Flirty Flamingo.  The variety of pinks work well when you’re layering as much as I’ve done.

Photopolymer stamps are flexible and sticky, allowing you to shape them in a curve in order to closely fit something like this banner.  I place the die cut piece on my desktop, then cover it with a clear block.  I shape the photopolymer stamp on the block looking through to the die cut.  One caveat: If your die cut isn’t symmetrical, this won’t work as you’re going to flip the block over.

If you haven’t had your screening, make that appointment a priority.  The earlier Breast Cancer is detected, the greater the odds of complete remission.  Take care of yourself 💕

It’s RemARKable Designer Series Paper!!

RemARKable Blog Tour

Don’t you love a deal?  Our RemARKable Blog Tour this month is celebrating Designer Series Paper, because it’s a BIG DEAL this month at Stampin’ Up!  There are 8 beautiful color-coordinated collections from which to choose, and our RemARKable goal this month is to inspire you and make your choice a little easier.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour Cookie Cutter Christmas with Presents & Pinecones DSP

  • Stamps:  Cookie Cutter Christmas, Oh What Fun, Thoughtful Banners
  • Color Palette:  Whisper White, Emerald Envy, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette, Crushed Curry
  • Accessories:  Presents & Pinecones DSP, Duet Banner Punch, Cookie Cutter Punch, Wink of Stella Clear, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Write markers

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour Cookie Cutter Christmas with Presents & Pinecones DSP

The Wink of Stella just would NOT photograph but trust me, Santa is a-blingin’!!  It’s really quick and easy coloring with the Stampin’ Write markers too.

I want to point out the Oh What Fun stamp set because in my opinion, it’s been overlooked with all the excitement of the 2016 Holiday catalog.  Oh What Fun is in the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog as a returning star from last year’s Holiday catalog, and it is stellar.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Presents & Pinecones with Wondrous Wreath

I don’t know about you, but I NEVER have enough tags! Tags for packages, tags for goodies, tags for bottles of refreshing beverages…I NEED TAGS.

  • Stamps:  Wondrous Wreath, Merry Mice
  • Color Palette:  Emerald Envy, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
  • Accessories:  Wonderful Wreath Framelits, Bunch of Banners Framelits, Layering Squares Framelits, Wink of Stella Clear, Cherry Cobbler Silky Taffeta Ribbon, Bakers Twine Trio Pack, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Glue Dots, 1/8″ handheld punch

Maui Stamper RemARKable Presents & Pinecones with Wondrous Wreath

I am a Wink of Stella junkie – there isn’t a project that doesn’t benefit from a little Wink!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Presents & Pinecones with Wondrous Wreath

Designer Series Paper is the PERFECT tag base because you have a beautiful front AND back ready to roll – it takes just moments to dress it up. With 12 color coordinated designs, you too can have that perfectly coordinated Christmas.

Maui Stampering the Pootles Tea Bag Holder Folder

Do you follow Pootles?  You should, just so that you can say her blog name 🙂  In August, she updated her Tea Bag Holder Folder and I saw it for the first time.  I knew right away that I wanted to CASE (Copy And Share with Everyone) that project, but I quickly discovered that the tea bags I’d chosen were not the same size as the ones she used.

AIYAH.

I had to re-design.

Maui Stamper CASE Pootles Tea Bag Folder Holder Fresh Fruit

Is that the cutest thing EVER???

Maui Stamper CASE Pootles Tea Bag Folder Holder Fresh Fruit

Instead of making all of the packets inside from DSP, I chose to alternate them with colored card stock.  It saves a bit on the DSP but I also like the variety – I think it makes the envelopes stand out more.

Maui Stamper CASE Pootles Tea Bag Folder Holder Fresh Fruit

Each of my envelopes is sized to fit a packet of Tazo tea.  The Pootles holder is sized for Twinnings, and I’m not even certain that the Twinnings distributed in the US is the same size as the UK.

Here are my numbers for the changes.  I’ve linked to her tutorial at the end of the post.

The Twinnings packet is 2 5/8″ x 3″, and the Tazo is 2 5/8″ x 3 1/2″, so I only needed to adjust for height.

The card stock for the folder is 11 x 3 1/4″ and is scored at 4, 5 1/2″, 9 1/4″ and 10″.  The card stock for the accordion piece to attach the tea bag envelopes is 4″ x 3″ and is scored at 1/2″, 1″, 1 1/2″, 2″, 2 1/2″, 3″ and 3 1/2″.

The tea bag envelope is created on the Envelope Punch Board.  Each envelope is made from a 5 1/2″ square piece of paper and is aligned with the 2 3/8 mark for the first punch on the board.

Maui Stamper CASE Pootles Tea Bag Folder Holder Fresh Fruit

The Fresh Fruit DSP is perfect for this project as so many teas are really fruit flavored infusions.  Since Designer Series paper is Buy 3 Get One Free this month, why not create a few Tea Bag Folder Holders for that quick and unexpected holiday gift?  Teachers, mail carriers, your favorite grocery checker – spread a little Tea Bag LOVE!

Special thanks to Pootles (Sam Hammond Donald) for so generously posting beautiful, easy to follow instruction for this project.  Find details HERE and HERE.

Warning: Retired Product Ahead

I don’t usually share projects made with retired product, but I was so pleased with this set that I’ve made an exception.

Maui Stamper Zoo Babies (retired)

There’s a special baby about to join our family, and he was celebrated on Saturday in California.  I wasn’t able to be there, but I wanted to send something just for him.

Maui Stamper Zoo Babies (retired)

The animals from Zoo Babies are some of my favorites from Stampin’ Up!, and I’ve marked that retired stamp set as a keeper.  I especially love the patterned ears on this Ellie.

Maui Stamper Zoo Babies (retired)

I inked up this giraffe with Crushed Curry and added Soft Suede details with a Stampin’ Write marker before stamping the image.

Maui Stamper Zoo Babies (retired)

If you’re fortunate enough to have Zoo Babies in your stash, enjoy.  If it’s not there, don’t sweat it.  There are heaps of great options – check out Barnyard Babies to start!

New babies mean gifts, and gifts mean Thank You notes!  Speaking of Thank You notes, I got a handmade card from a special friend in Arizona:

Maui Stamper Handmade Thank You

I made a pledge for Jayden’s Fun Run, and this arrived last weekend.  How fabulous is that?

Hopping in Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

I’m thrilled to be a part of the FIRST Annual Ultimate Pink Blog Hop – a collaboration of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators around the world to support Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Let’s turn the blogosphere – and Pinterest – PINK!!

Maui Stamper First Annual Ultimate Pink Blog Hop

Pink isn’t one of my go-to colors, so it’s a bit of a stretch for me to go All Pink.  I decided to play it safe and CASE myself, and I chose one of my all-time favorites to start:

Maui Stamper Botanical Blossoms Ultimate Pink Blog Hop 2016

I love the Botanical Blooms stamps and coordinating Botanical Builder Framelits.  One of my favorite things to do is to crank out a heap of floral pieces (there are 14 to choose from!) and keep moving them around until I’m happy.

This one made me happy!

Maui Stamper Botanical Blossoms Ultimate Pink Blog Hop 2016

I’ve used Whisper White, Shimmer White, Smoky Slate, Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, and Rose Red, with a smidge of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper to add sparkle without sending Mr. Maui Stamper out on the “I HATE GLITTER” warpath.  A few Rhinestone Jewels add a little more sparkle, and this card is ready for anything!

Maui Stamper Botanical Blossoms Ultimate Pink Blog Hop 2016

Dress it up or dress it down – I’ll stamp a sentiment on the inside when I choose the occasion.  I keep a stash of blank cards for those moments when I realize I’m a day late and a dollar short (tell the truth, now…doesn’t that happen to all of us once in a while?)

Maui Stamper Botanical Blossoms Ultimate Pink Blog Hop 2016

Love You Lots is on the other end of the crafting spectrum – cute as a bug, I’d say!  This is a quick and simple card with a color palette of Whisper White, Basic Grey, Blushing Bride and a Wink Of Stella.  Do you Wink?  It’s another way of adding sparkle without a tragic Glitter outbreak, making Certain Members of my household very unhappy.

Maui Stamper Love You Lots Ultimate Pink Blog Hop 2016

A little Smoky Slate Stitched ribbon ties it all together {wink again!}

I hope you’ve enjoyed my venture into the World of Pink.  Keep in mind that our focus isn’t so much on the color, but on what it represents:  Breast Cancer Awareness.  Take care of your body.  Do your monthly self-exam.  Support your sisters who are fighting.  Contribute to an organization that funds research into learning more about this insidious disease.

And by all means, continue on the tour!  There are 70 stops – I hope you’ve got a big cup of coffee!

Join us as we Craft Pink for one day:

Maui Stamper World Card Making Day Specials October 1-5 2016

An Owl in the October Woods

Our calendar tour is a day late this month so that we could celebrate World Card Marking Day on October 1st.  This little owl in an autumn wood will watch over my kitchen for all of October:

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar October 2016

  • Stamps:  Among the Branches (Holiday 2015, retired)
  • Color Palette:  Tangelo Twist, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede, Early Espresso
  • Accessories:  Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Maui Stamper DIY Easel Calendar October 2016

In Hawaii, we have an endemic owl call the Pueo.  It’s a diurnal, or daytime owl, but I’ve seen them most often at dusk.  The silent flight of an owl overhead is always a spell-binding experience.

We don’t have many fall colors, but I’ve chosen to apply creative license to the tree my Pueo has chosen as a perch.

Visit Cheryl and Crystal to see their October calendars!

World Card Making Day 2016

Yes! World Card Making Day is a THING!  And anyone can make a card – beginning with a little bit of paper.  Nothing warms my heart like an envelope with my name across the front.  Tucked in with the bills, realtor solicitations, charity appeals, and credit card applications, a personal note really makes my day.  It’s not hard, and it doesn’t have to take a lot of time or money either!

Maui Stamper Floral Boutique Stampin' Up! Congrats

  • Stamps:  None (gasp)
  • Color Palette:  Whisper White, Night of Navy, Mint Macaron
  • Accessories:  Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, Big Shot and Sunshine Wishes framelits, Pokey Doodle, Silver Thread

I love the look of blue and white, especially the classic look of (Night of) Navy and white.  The Floral Boutique DSP has a great variety of designs and they are all Navy and White!

Maui Stamper Floral Boutique Stampin' Up! Love

This very simple card using the same colors, paper and framelits with the addition of a few sequins.  Honestly?  I think I liked it better when it was just the DSP and the word!  I thought it was too simple, but sometimes less really is more.

Maui Stamper Floral Boutique Stampin' Up! Happy Birthday

Switching out Mint Macaron for Emerald Envy creates a different feeling, and I added images from the Petite Petals and Birthday Blossoms stamp sets.  None of these cards are especially complicated, and you could create a nice stash of cards in an afternoon using any of our Designer Series papers.

Maui Stamper Designer Series Paper Buy-3-Get-1-Free Sale October 2016

Stampin’ Up! Designer Series paper adds a quick and gorgeous punch to any project, and the part that just makes me sing is that it all coordinates.  Within each package, the papers coordinate with each other.  Written on each package, Stampin’ Up! lists the coordinating colors.  That means you’ll know exactly which card stock, ink, ribbon, enamel shape, sequin or embossing powder will coordinate perfectly with your Designer Series paper.  You can focus on being creative instead of worrying whether or not something will match!  DSP is a great value for the entire month of October – buy 3 packs and get one free.

Maui Stamper World Card Making Day Specials October 1-5 2016

To celebrate World Card Making Day, Stampin’ Up! is offering fabulous savings on kits and supplies to make your own cards – but only through October 5th.  Pay special attention to the Fast Fuse sale.  If you’re not on the FF bandwagon yet, well, get on board!  It’s a great value and it REALLY STICKS.  Fast Fuse is absolutely indispensable on my craft desk.

Today is a great day to make a card, whether it’s an award winning work of art or a simple card crafted from the heart.  Write a loving note inside, address the envelope, put a stamp on it and send it.  And then SHOP HERE.  Because you need some Stampin’ Up! card making supplies, my friend!

It’s RemARKably Halloween!

RemARKable Blog Tour

Welcome to the September version of the RemARKable Blog Tour.  This month I’m featuring the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamps paired with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch.  It’s cute, it’s fun to color, and it’s quick!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour Stampin Up Cookie Cutter Halloween

I didn’t have Halloween paper at my fingertips, so I pulled out this starry paper from the Presents and Pinecones Holiday Catalog DSP and used it with the Mini-Treat-Bag thinlits.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour Stampin Up Cookie Cutter Halloween

The little scarecrow is my favorite to color – I chose watercolors (Ink Refills and the Aquapainter) to achieve a vintage look.  The tag is the same for each of my projects – a Cookie Cutter Halloween punch, a 1 3/4″ Pumpkin Pie card stock circle, a black card stock tag embossed with the Woodland TIEF, and a vellum “washi” cut from the Mini-Treat-Bag thinlits set and stamped with Happy Halloween from Teeny Tiny Wishes, one of my crafting workhorses!

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour Stampin Up Cookie Cutter Halloween

This little vampire isn’t very scary, and he’s easy to color with Stampin’ Write markers (Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizazz).  He tops a treat bag made with the Gift Bag Punch Board.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour Stampin Up Cookie Cutter Halloween

The little mummy is my all around favorite.  I added the little heart (it’s one of the builder items on the punch) and colored a little Razzleberry face in there – how easy is that?  There’s a little mummy brigade behind the tag punched directly onto the Kraft Tag a Bag gift bag.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour Stampin Up Cookie Cutter Halloween

The Gold Binder clips are perfect for attaching tags and closing up bags!  And that ribbon is the Peekaboo Peach taffeta – it blends very well with Pumpkin Pie!

Last in the lineup is the Skelly, accompanied by a Row of Ravens (Nevermore!) across the Petite Cafe Gift Bag.

Maui Stamper RemARKable Blog Tour Stampin Up Cookie Cutter Halloween

Our new Kraft Rope trim is soft and easy to tie, and it coordinates with everything.  That’s my kind of accessory.

Here’s the lineup!  You can hand out treats, deliver home-baked goodies, or even fill them up with worms and dirt and give them to all of the naughty boys and girls.

Well, we wouldn’t really do that now, would we?

Next stop on the tour is Heather Mathieson, and she is definitely not going to be naughty – I know she has wonderful projects to share with you!  Enjoy the tour.

Oh What Fun!

There’s not a whole lot of sleighing in the islands.  Native Hawaiians enjoyed the sport of land sledding,  and although there are a few contemporary athletes, it’s relatively obscure (something to do with the fact that accidents were often quite deadly.)

But the sleigh – or really The Sleigh – is such an iconic Christmas image that I couldn’t resist:

Maui Stamper Santas Sleigh Thinlits Holiday 2016

  • Stamps:  Oh What Fun
  • Color Palette:  Real Red, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Shimmer White, Silver and Gold
  • Accessories:  Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits, Big Shot, Precision Base Plate (you need this!!), Stampin’ Dimensionals, Linen thread, Jingle Bells, Real Red Glitter Embossing Powder, Silver Foil sheets, Gold Foil sheets

I love the Shimmery White card stock on this card.  It’s very clean with a lot of texture from the foil and the Glitter Embossing Powder, and the shimmer makes me think of snow.  (Yes, I know about snow.  I have been to the University of Notre Dame in February, aka the Frozen Tundra.  Thank goodness for Mary Travis and her boots.)

Maui Stamper Oh What Fun Santa's Sleigh

This is a 5″ x 5″ square card, but an envelope is quick and easy with the Envelope Punch Board.

I had a small environmental disaster making this card.  You may know that certain persons in my household consider glitter to be of the Dark One.  Tonight I was working with the Real Red Glitter EP and I moved the embossing tray just a little too quickly.  Clouds of red glitter were IMMEDIATELY dispersed into the stamp room atmosphere.  The EPA may have to be summoned.  I finally took everything outside to try to get the EP back into the little jar (sort of like returning the genie to the lamp) and now my back lanai is infected. Fortunately, Mr. Maui Stamper is on a business trip until Friday afternoon.

If you’ll excuse me, I have work to do.  If you want to create your own environmental disaster, shop HERE.

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Favorite Things

Raindrops on roses…well, not exactly! I’ve had a month to play with many of the products from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday 2016 catalog, and I thought I’d share my Maui Stamper Favorite Things with you.  I can’t promise that my list won’t change throughout the season, but here’s where it stands today:

#1.  Copper Foil Paper

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Copper Foil Paper

I’ve shared a sample using Santa’s Sleigh (see #8 below) and this paper is amazing. There’s coordinating Embossing Powder and Copper Thread in the Annual Catalog.  The look is rich and luxurious and this is my absolute favorite catalog product.

#2.  Cookie Cutter Christmas bundle

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp and punch bundle

These are the cutest!  I am not usually a “cute” card person, but this set has made a believer out of me! The images are easy to stamp and color, and a Wink of Stella is the perfect finishing touch.  You’ll use these over and over for cards, tags and package embellishments.

#3.  Mini Pine Cones

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Copper Foil Paper

AAAACCCKKK!!  I can’t stand how adorable these are!!  There’s nothing else to say.

#4.  Jolly Friends and the Jolly Hat punch bundle

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Jolly Friends and Jolly Hat Punch

All of the images in this set are cute – again, I’m usually not into cute, but I’m pleading the 5th!  The moose is my absolute fave, hands down.

#5.  Glitter Embossing Powder: Emerald Envy and Real Red

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Glitter Embossing Powder

If you’ve read my blog for any time at all, you’ll know that Mr. Maui Stamper is NOT (Capital N.O.T.) a fan of glitter.  This embossing powder keeps the sparkle in place and keeps my man happy.  In Real Red and Emerald Envy – gotta get ’em all!

#6.  Christmas Pines and Pretty Pines thinlits

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Christmas Pines and Pretty Pines thinlits

The thinlits alone are reason enough – those delicate branches have multiple applications.  There’s some gorgeous DSP and Washi to coordinate with this suite as well.

#7.  Tin of Tags Project Kit and the Tin of Tags stamps

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Tin of Tags kit and stamps

Last year we had Oh What Fun (and that set is still available and still one of my faves) but Tin of Tags has that TIN!!  If you’ve run out of creative holiday hostess gifts, look no further.  This is the One Gift to Rule them All.

#8.  Santa’s Sleigh stamp and thinlit bundle

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Santa's Sleigh stamps and thinlits

There are a million and one things you can do with this combination.  The main images of a sleigh, reindeer and tree are just the beginning!  Again, tags, cards and package embellishments are a snap with these versatile pieces.

#9.  Merry Mice (also available in wood)

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Merry Mice

I have to confess, I love these little critters.  I’m not inviting them into my house, but look at those ears!  Stamp them with Archival Ink (black or gray) on Shimmery White card stock for a gorgeous, easy-to-watercolor image.

#10.  Stampin’ Write Marker sets to Coordinate with the Designer Series paper!!

Maui Stamper Holiday 2016 Stampin' Write Marker sets

When I saw these, I actually jumped up and down.  I have wanted options for markers besides buying the full sets, and this catalog made my dream come true!!  Now you can stock up on your favorite colors – the ones that coordinate perfectly with our DSP – and color to your heart’s content.

So there you have it.  Lots of great products didn’t make the top 10, but it’s my party and I’ll choose what I want!
