Another take on wreaths

Wreaths are an all-season trend and we have beautiful stamps and framelits to create them.  However, you can make an infinitely customizable wreath with your stamps and a simple circle mask:

Maui Stamper What I Love Wreath

  • Stamps:  What I Love (SAB 2016), And Many More (retiring 5/31/16)
  • Color Palette:  So Saffron, Pear Pizazz, Lost Lagoon (retiring 5/31/16), Soft Sky
  • Accessories:  Linen Thread, White Bakers Twine, Wink of Stella, Rhinestone Jewels, Circles Framelits (retiring 5/31/16), Itty Bitty Accents punch pack (retiring 5/31/16)

This very simple card could be recreated in any color palette using nearly any flower stamp set.  It could even be done with leaves, or shells, or whatever you can imagine.

Maui Stamper What I Love Clean and Simple Wreath

I cut a circle in the center of a piece of card stock with a Circles Framelit.  I taped my card front down with some washi tape and then taped the circle mask over it, positioning the circle in the center of the card front.  From there, I played with the images until I found a balance that pleased me.   A helpful hint:  press firmly at the edge of the mask to get into the edge of the circle.

I made a few different arrangements until I was happy, so you might consider playing with this on some scrap paper until you get the results you want.

Maui Stamper 2015-2016 Retiring List Farewell

The What I Love stamp set is already retired as a 2016 Sale-a-bration selection, but you can see that many of the other products I’ve used are also retiring.  If there’s a retiring product you love, I suggest you shop now as these things often sell out before the end of the catalog.  Shop the Retiring List HERE.  A PDF that you can print is available HERE.

Flowering Fields

This is turning into my favorite stamp set from the 2016 Sale-a-bration catalog:

Maui Stamper Flowering FIelds

Maui Stamper Flowering FIelds with And Many More

I stamped all the Timeless Textures backgrounds first.  Most of them were stamped off (inked, then lightly stamped on scrap paper, then stamped onto the project).  I added the Flowering Fields images with Soft Suede and then hand colored them.  I’m really getting into hand coloring.

If you look at the image in the top left corner, you’ll see the White Gel pen highlights.  I find so many uses for that pen, and I’ve learned to keep a brand new one as backup.  Maybe it’s the warm Maui weather, but I find they dry out before they are used up.  I used to do all kinds of crazy things to make them last longer, but I finally gave up.  They’re $4.  I’m worth it.

It’s RemARKably Trick or Treat!

Welcome to the October RemARKable Blog Tour.  If you’re the type of person who does things sequentially, you’ve likely arrived from Tracy Langley’s blog.  If you’re a Frank Sinatra, I-Did-It-My-Way kind of person, well, I’m happy you’re here!

Maui Stamper Howl-O-Ween Boo-To-You Bundle RemARKable TourTrick or treat!

  • Stamps:  Howl-O-Ween, And Many More
  • Color Palette:  Tangelo Twist, Whisper White and Basic Black
  • Accessories:  Big Shot, Pillow Box Framelits, Window Sheet, Woodland TIEF,  Black 3/8″ taffeta ribbon, Black Bakers Twine, Happy Haunting DSP, Toe-Bod-Butts*

Maui Stamper Howl-O-Ween Boo-To-You Bundle RemARKable Tour*See the candy inside the package?  It’s called Toe Bod Butts.  The little white bit on the end is the Toe.  The orange part in the middle is the Bod(y).  And the yellow on the top is the Butt.  And you eat it in that order.

Anyone who tells you they’re called Candy Corn has succumbed to the wonders of Marketing.  Toe-Bod-Butts.  That’s what they are.

Maui Stamper Howl-O-Ween Boo-To-You Bundle RemARKable TourI absolutely love the Happy Haunting Designer Series paper (DSP).  This plaid is one of my favorites – if I lived where Fall was actually a season, I would have wool pants in this plaid.  Love love love it…so much that I think I have used up all but a few tiny scraps of the ENTIRE PACKAGE OF DSP.  Do you realize the enormity of that?  I’m a DSP Hoarder.  This is big, my friends, big.

You can put together a bunch of these watching a football game (ask me how I know) and have special treats for the kids in your son or daughter’s class, or your co-workers, or the football players for that matter.  And you might even get to sneak in a few Toe Bod Butts for yourself.  How fabulous would that be?

Check out the RemARKable Bundles!

Welcome to the RemARKable Blog tour – this month, it’s all about bundles!

There are heaps of great bundles in the Annual Catalog, and I chose to focus on the Flower Patch stamps and framelits.  I don’t know about you, but when I create a card with a set like this I often have a lot of little pieces left over.  I pulled out those pieces to see what I could do:

Maui Stamper Flower Patch Tags RemARKable BundlesI ALWAYS need tags, and 9 times out of 10, I need a tag AT THE LAST MINUTE.  Can you relate?

As I worked on color combinations for these tags, it occurred to me that the best thing to do would be to make a lot of pieces, mix and match them to form pleasing combinations, and put them together to create a little stash for myself.

Maui Stamper Flower Patch Tags RemARKable Bundles

If I weren’t sharing these with you today, I would have left them without a sentiment.  That way, I could add the exact phrase I needed when I was looking for a last minute tag.

Inspire.Create.Share.2014: Christmas in July

I signed up for a Christmas Card swap at convention before I realized that there were no Christmas stamps in the 2014-2015 catalog.  I had to get creative:

Maui Stamper Tape It Christmas Convention Swap

  • Stamps:  Tape It, Hello Love (Hostess), And Many More, Hardwood
  • Color Palette:  Whisper White, Real Red, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede
  • Accessories:  Gold Bakers Twine, Red Glimmer paper, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Watercolor Wonder Washi tape, Banner punch, Stampin’ Sponges

I adore the fat little birds from the Hello Love Hostess set.  I thought this one looked sort of Partridge-y.  You know, in the Pear Tree.  Use your imagination.

I had to mask off the end of that last Tape It strip, the one on the bottom – it was too long.  I just used a sticky note and then drew a little line across the edge to finish it off.

Maui Stamper Tape It Christmas Convention SwapHonestly, lately I don’t seem capable of making anything without Stampin’ Sponges and Dimensionals.

I’ve shared this tip before but it’s worth repeating: When you’re working with the Gold or Silver Bakers Twine, tie a pair of little knots around the spot where you’re going to cut the twine.  It takes an extra moment or two but it saves the frustration of chasing those gold wrappings – they’re stiffer than the twine and they unravel instantaneously.

Inspire.Create.Share.2014 – One Last Swap

This is the last swap I made for Inspire.Create.Share, our 2014 Convention:

Maui Stamper Welcome Swap Convention 2014

  • Stamps:  Life’s Adventures (Hostess), And Many More
  • Color Palette:  Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla, Real Red, Basic Black
  • Accessories:  Fringe Scissors, Glimmer paper, Stampin’ Write markers, Zig Zag TIEF, Very Vintage Designer Buttons, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine, Typeset DSP, Itty Bitty Accents punch pack

I used markers to get the look I wanted for the stamped image.  I hand-colored the stamp before making my impression, then went back and added the awning and the door.

Maui Stamper Welcome Swap Convention 2014This is a matchbook style card.  Cut your card stock to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and score at 3/4″ and 6″.  Your finished card will be 4 1/4″ by 5 1/4″ but trust me, no one is going to notice the difference 🙂

Maui Stamper Welcome Swap Convention 2014I love the shape of this little heart from the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack!  Much more contemporary than the traditional heart.

Maui Stamper Welcome Swap Convention 2014I’m also a little bit obsessed with the new Typeset DSP.  I was in serious mourning when First Editions Newsprint wasn’t continued into this catalog, but I’m relieved and delighted with this new edition!  Maps.  Print.  Design Elements.  There are loads of options, and it’s really lightweight so it is going to crumple up just beautifully.

Now to go look through all of the swaps I received in return for mine!  I feel like Uncle Scrooge on his pile of money.  Bwa ha ha ha!!!
