RemARKably Thoughtful Branches

RemARKable Blog Tour

Welcome to the August RemARKable Blog Tour.  We’re featuring the exclusive, available-only-this-month scrum-tiddily-umptious Thoughtful Branches stamp set, paired with the Beautiful Branches thinlits.  I’m not featuring the thinlits today, but you can see them used HERE and HERE.  Instead, I’m focusing on the trees.

I elected to keep this card on the simple side.  You could use just about any sentiment – thanks, sympathy, hello or even Christmas.  I made it a birthday card because, well, #imbringingbirthdaysback.  Aren’t you?

The color palette is Pool Party, Island Indigo, Whisper White and Crumb Cake.  I’ve used the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and the Thoughtful Banners set for the sentiment.  The Designer Series Paper is from the Subtles Stack.  Oh, and of course I’ve used Stampin’ Dimensionals!

I love that you can stamp the trunk independently of the branches.  No more fussy markering the stamps!  (Ha!! My spell-check doesn’t think MARKERING is a word.  Silly spell-check.)

This card is slightly stepped up – but not too much.  I used the Floral Boutique DSP and the Softly Falling TIEF for texture, and added a little sparkle with the Wink of Stella clear brush.  The image is cut with Ovals framelits, and I added a greeting cut from Silver Foil paper using the Christmas Greetings thinlits.

This beautiful, versatile set is only available this month.  You can purchase the stamps, the thinlits or the bundle, but whatever you do, don’t wait!

Next up on the tour is Audra Monk, and you know she always has a great RemARKable post.  Enjoy the tour!

Burlap texture

Have you gotten your hands on the gorgeous burlap ribbon in the Holiday catalog?

Maui Stamper HandmadeCard Flower Shop Chevron

  • Flower Shop, Oh Hello and Chevron Background stamps
  • Very Vanilla and Baked Brown Sugar card stock
  • Primrose Petals, Daffodil Delight and Baked Brown Sugar FFIP
  • Bitty Circle and Pansy Punches
  • Big Shot and Ovals Collection Framelits
  • Burlap ribbon
  • Pearl Jewels
  • Mini Glue Dots

The Flower Shop stamp set has one Pansy shape in 6 different textures – this one is burlap!  It’s a little thing, but it matters to me.

The little yellow centers in the flower are applied with Mini Glue Dots.  They give more lift than Tombo, less lift than Stampin’ Dimensionals, and fit better behind the small circles than a dimensional would.  Another little thing…

Did you see my un-tutorial on using the Pansy Punch?  Check HERE to simplify your life 🙂

This is a very quick card and it is USPS friendly!!  It would be easy to switch that sentiment out to suit your need.  I often make cards like this without the sentiment inked in.  Having them on hand gives me an instant custom card when the moment strikes.

Stop by on Sunday for another RemARKable Stamp of the Month tour!

a RemARKably SECRET Garden Tour

Stampin' Up! RemARKable Blog Tour April

Welcome to another edition of our RemARKable Stamp of the Month tour – this month we’re featuring Secret Garden and the coordinating Secret Garden Framelits.  RemARKables are a very creative group and I am certain you’re finding loads of great ideas.  Let’s see if I can’t share one or two more.

I snooped through Pinterest for ideas and saw a lot of cards that included round or oval shapes with the Secret Garden flowers.  I thought about making a round card, but ultimately came up with an oval card that I am very pleased with.  Tell me what you think!

Maui Stamper Secret Garden Baby Girl cardThis is the largest oval framelit, cut from So Saffron and embossed with the Lattice TIEF.  It’s layered over a card cut from Whisper White – Stampin’ Up! Whisper White is just a little lighter weight, and you can cut two layers with a framelit.  The various flowers from the Secret Garden stamp set are inked in either Perfect Plum or So Saffron and stamped on either Whisper White or Perfect Plum card stock.  A little ribbon, a few pearls, and a banner finish it off!  The message on the banner is from the new Cuddles and Kisses stamp set – great fonts and great messages!

I cut a LOT of flowers to play with, and when I was finished with the card there were still a LOT of flowers left over!  After a few false starts, I came up with a fun gift to go with this card:

Maui Stamper Secret Garden FrameThis frame has moved around my studio a half dozen times begging to be embellished.  It took a major expedition to find the dog-gone thing once I realized I needed it.  Isn’t that how it goes?  Of course, I’m not showing you what my studio looks like, because you would see the problem immediately.

Maui Stamper Secret Garden FrameThe framelits do such a quick, clean job of cutting things out.  Fussy cutting looks great, but it’s a bother to do!  This takes the trouble out of the process.

Time to take a peek over the fence at Robin’s Secret Garden!  She always has gorgeous projects to share – I know you’ll love it!
