FRIENDLY SEAGULLS: THANKS

I grew up in Santa Barbara, California, and seagulls were the bird-soundtrack of our beach days. Their noisy calls and antics are a big part of my memory, and I still love to watch the rascals when I visit home. Needless to say, Friendly Seagulls (SAB 2025) was a must.

  • Stamps: Friendly Seagulls (SAB 25)
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Memento Black, Wild Wheat, Poppy Parade, Gray Granite
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut & Emboss Machine, Perennial Postage dies, Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder, Mini Alphabet dies, Wild Wheat Jute Twine, Toadstool Garden DSP (SAB 25), Stampin’ Dimensionals

The Mini Alphabet dies are the BEST!!! One crank of the Stamp Cut Emboss Machine and you have all the letters PLUS extras of the ones you use the most. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

If you live anywhere near seagull habitat, you need these stamps. If you vacation near seagull habitat, you also need these stamps. If you just like a lot of sass and attitude, well, you can guess what I’m gonna say. See them in the Online Store. But don’t wait too long – Sale-a-bration is winding down! You’ve got until February 28th.

SENDING LOVE WITH PERENNIAL POSTAGE

I’m crossing my fingers that the Perennial Postage dies stick around for a while. I especially like the look I get when I mask off the edges. They were perfect for this special Galentine:

  • Stamps: Sending Love
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Memento Black, Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Coastal Cabana
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut & Emboss Machine, Perennial Postage dies, Petal Pink Trim, Masking Paper, Blending Brushes, Low Profile Dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I masked the edges of the large die cut to create that “postage stamp” look. I also masked off the mailbox and the circle in the middle of the “postmark”. I’ll tell you a secret: masking the mailbox was to make it easier. 😉 I used the Blending Brushes to create the backgrounds, and let me tell you, they are SO forgiving!

The sentiments in Sending Love are perfect. I like to use this one on the back of the envelope, too.

Hope your Valentines’ Day is sweet!

STACK, SLICE & SHUFFLE PERENNIAL LAVENDER

This is a simple and fun technique that will help you dig into that stack of Designer Series Paper and turn it into pretty cards. You can keep them simple and let the paper do the talking, or you can embellish them to your heart’s content.

NOTE: These are supplies for all 3 cards 😁

  • Stamps: Perennial Lavender, Stippled Rose, Everyday Greetings, Greetings of the Season
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Crumb Cake, Gorgeous Grape
  • Accessories: Perennail Lavender DSP, Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Spotlight on Nature dies, Stippled Rose dies, Perennial Lavender dies, Perennial Postage dies, Something Fancy dies, 2 3/8″ circle punch, Linen Thread, Basic Beige Border Ribbon, Iridescent Ribbon, Glossy Dots, Purple Fine Shimmer Gems, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The first step is to choose 3 patterns that you like seeing together. Cut a panel of each one – mine were 3 3/4” x 5” – and then stack them together. Cut them into 3 pieces – the shapes don’t matter, but I found that making a template to guide me was a help. (If you don’t have a trimmer that can cut through 3 pieces of DSP, the template helps you cut each on the same. Measure a starting point and mark each piece with the template, then cut them one at a time.)

Once your paper is cut, shuffle the pieces so that you have a mixture of papers on each card front. Because our DSP is two sided, you can even flip a set of papers over! Adhere them to a panel slightly larger than your original measurement (I used a 4” x 5 1/4” base) and then to a card front (I added an extra layer at 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”). Embellish away!

LAYERS OF BEAUTY: LEMON LOLLY

Are you ready for one more Layers of Beauty card? I hope so – I find this image irresistible!

  • Stamps: Layers of Beauty, Changing Leaves
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Granny Apple Green, Lemon Lime Twist, Memento Black
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Perennial Postage Dies, Layers of Beauty dies, Layers of Beauty Masks, Changing Leaves dies, Blending Brushes, Masking Paper, Iridescent Adhesive Backed Discs, Baker’s Twine Three Color Pack

The sentiment and that sweet oval panel are from Changing Leaves. I’ve recently added that bundle to my stash and find myself reaching for it more often than I expected – especially considering we don’t really have autumn here in the islands. (We DO have seasons, that’s a topic for another day.)

I masked the edges of the smaller Perennial Postage die and gently brushed it with Lemon Lolly ink. It brings a postage stamp to mind, but it also adds a 3rd mat layer without any additional weight or thickness. And I LOVE the Iridescent Discs because they are FLAT FLAT FLAT. (They match much better than it appears in the photo.)

Even though I’ve used the same image from the bundle each time, to my eye, the different color palettes make each one so different from the last. I hope you enjoy Layers of Beauty as much as I do!
