ONE LAST PICK OF THE PATCH

I’m sad to see Pick of the Patch retire, although I expected it would. There are still a lot of ideas floating around in my head but they are competing with a lot of other stuff that you don’t want to hear about! Enjoy this autumn card instead:

I wanted stems on the squash, but I didn’t want to fussy cut those curly bits. I separated the strands of the Jute Trim and used glue dots to shape them. I like the way they’re kind of unraveled (there are times you could say the same thing about me).

I fussy cut the sentiment from Pick of the Patch – it’s an easy one to do. And the Gorgeous Garden dies make another appearance with pick of the patch because I love them so much! Blending Brushes make a simple, soft background for the die cuts.

If you have a holiday weekend, I hope you’re cozy and warm. We’re in beautiful Sedona, Arizona this week with my family. It’s one of my favorite places to hike.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Happy Thanksgiving, friends. For my American friends, may your companions be joyful and your meal be satisfying. For my friends in other countries, I wish you the same even though you may not celebrate this holiday!

I love these little squash! I think pairing them with the Aspen Tree does makes them more Autumn than Halloween.

Some of them are fussy cut, but I don’t mind. I created an ombré look by inking with a light color, then adding the darker tone with a soft touch.

PICK OF THE PATCH THANKS

YUP. We’re still pickin’ in that patch! Today I’ve paired it with the Cottage Wreath stamps in a collaboration with my dear friend Crystal. We’re back to traditional pumpkin colors, and we used our Kraft Note Cards with Envelopes to make this a quick and easy card.

While we made this a thank you, it could be just about anything – even Happy Halloween. There’s a jack-o-lantern face in the set, so you could add that and call it good! I did slip the blackbird into the inside of the card, but I think that can still be multi-seasonal.

The pre-cut and scored note cards make this super easy. It would make a quick gift to that friend who loves pretty cards but just doesn’t have the time to put them together. And note cars are just the right size for a few quick lines, so they’re quick to put in the mailbox and on their way to brighten someone’s day.

Are you ready for one more Pick of the Patch card? I switched up my favorite layout from landscape to portrait and played with some new colors. Honestly, this is the most fun I’ve had with a card sketch in ages!

Here’s a link to the landscape version. The change in DSP is pretty significant. The Joy of Christmas DSP is much bolder than Earthen Elegance, but the colors are also deeper and more vibrant. I was pleased to see how versatile that “Christmas” paper could be – I love all the layers!

I decided against fussy cutting of those swirls (again). I did it once and that was enough. They stamp directly on the card quite nicely. I don’t mind fussy cutting, but the inside curves on those made me cranky. Not worth it.

I love to add a little “what’s inside” hint on the outside of the envelope. I repeated the same image on the inside of the card – because it’s handmade and I can do that!

OCTOBER 2023 DIY: PICK OF THE PATCH

I am absolutely smitten with Pick of the Patch. I don’t usually get too excited about Halloween (sorry, Robbie!) but there’s something about the images in this set that has me reaching for it again and again. I’m going to enjoy it all month.

Did you see my non-traditional pumpkins in September? I had such fun with those colors, but for October I decided to stick with colors you might see in the pumpkin patch.

For the card, I fussy cut those swirls. Didn’t really feel like doing that again 😆 so I stamped them right onto the calendar. I’m equally happy with the results, and I’m thrilled that I didn’t have to fussy cut those buggers again.

I’ve had quite a few requests for the 2024 calendar template. Many people know I actually do live on Maui, and the past month or so has been emotionally hard. I’m the first to say that I am very fortunate to have not been directly impacted by the fire, but everyone who lives here is impacted in one way or another. I appreciate your patience – I’ll be making the template available later this month.

I fussy cut that funny gourd-like pumpkin and the swirls (ugh, not sure I would do that 25 times! But once was ok.) The Earthen Elegance DSP provides lots of interesting texture for layers, including the sentiment panel.
