SUNNY DAYS FUN FOLD

There is a fabulous selection of Designer Series Papers available for FREE in Sale-a-bration 2024. Sunny Days has gorgeous designs and they coordinate really well, making it a great choice for a fun-fold card:

  • Stamps: Bright Skies
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, Daffodil Delight
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Stylish Shapes dies, Masking Paper, Sunny Days DSP, Stampin’ Write Marker, Tear n Tape

I used the “rainy dots” image from Bright Skies and stamped off to create this pattern on the interior panel. To add a message to this card, I would either use the inside flap (on the left) or a really FAT marker to say “I LOVE YOU” on top of that pattern. You could certainly leave it off if you wanted more room to write.

Here are the dimensions for this card:

  • Card base (Pool Party) 6 3/4″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 2 1/2″ on the long side
  • Inside Panel (Basic White) 5 1/4″ x 4″ (DSP is layered on top of this panel)
  • Right DSP Panel (Rainbow DSP) 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″
  • Left/Front DSP Panel (Cloud DSP) 5 1/4″ x 2 1/4″
  • Fold over flap (Lost Lagoon) 3 1/2″ x 3″ scored at 1/2″ (makes a 3″ square)
  • White panel is the largest of the Stylish Shapes dies. It’s 2 7/16″ squared

Basic assembly:

  • Stamp the Basic White Inside Panel if desired and adhere the 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″ DSP panel.
  • Put Tear n Tape (aka TNT) on the 1/2″ scored strip of the Lost Lagoon 3 1/2″ x 3″ panel
  • Adhere the 1/2″ scored strip to the back of the Basic White Inside Panel and fold forward
  • Stamp the Stylish Shape Square and adhere to the Lost Lagoon panel.
  • Adhere the entire assembly to the card base

I used Masking Paper to stamp just half of the sun image. I also masked each flower when I stamped the leaves. I used the Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Write marker to put a contrasting center on each flower.

This is a 100% mail friendly card – no ribbon or embellishment to create lumps and bumps! You could certainly add those things if you desire.

Stippled Roses with Blending Brushes

My local crafting groups love new techniques, and they really love time saving techniques. Using Blending Brushes to color the Stippled Roses is a perfect example – it’s so much faster than other methods of coloring, and the result is soft and appealing. The amount of shading in these stamps really make a difference when you’re using this technique.

  • Stamps: Stippled Rose, Something Fancy
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Petal Pink, Crumb Cake
  • Accessories: Stippled Rose dies, Stippled Rose DSP (SAB 24), Blending Brushes, Adhesive Backed Cork rounds, Ribbon Duo Combo Pack, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Blender Pen

There are only 2 ink colors on this card: Petal Pink and Crumb Cake. The image is stamped in Crumb Cake since the Blending Brush doesn’t blur the stamped lines the way a Stampin’ Blend would do. And Crumb Cake and Petal Pink are both what I think of as “dusty” colors, so if there’s a little overlap with the brush it doesn’t matter.

After adding color with the Blending Brush, I used the Blender Pen to add a little more depth and detail. You can see it on the leaves: I use the natural shading that’s part of the stamped image to guide my placement.

The sentiment is fussy cut with my snips, but that’s a really quick task. (You DO have a pair of Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips, don’t you?? INDISPENSABLE.) This is a speedy card, and it would be suitable for a lot of different occasions. You could easily swap out the focal point as well.

Don’t miss those Cork Rounds. I was skeptical when I saw them, but I’m a big fan. They’re so different from other embellishments, they’re soft so they don’t add bulk to your card, and they work really well with nature-themed projects. Try them, you’ll like them!

And thank you so much for shopping the Online Store.

February 2024 DIY: Painted Lavender

This “Lavender Fields” image from the Painted Lavender stamp set is easy to overlook, but it’s my favorite. There are lavender fields in Upcountry Maui, and they’re such a beautiful sight in bloom. Even though they won’t be in bloom til late summer, I chose them for this month.

  • Stamps: Painted Lavender
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Lost Lagoon, Fresh Freesia, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape
  • Accessories: Stamp & Write markers, Brushed Brass Butterflies

This is a simple calendar this month. No die cuts, no fussy cuts, no dimensionals – but I did choose to hand-write my sentiment. It’s my reminder to LOVE FIRST.

The stems are stamped twice across the page. with Lost Lagoon. I inked the flowers with Fresh Freesia, and then added more color with the Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape Stamp & Write markers. I love how the extra layers of color add depth, and those brass butterflies were the little bit of sparkle I wanted.

DIY Calendar Templates are still available – message me for yours. They’re just $5.

And before you move on to the rest of your day, stop by and see what Crystal and Cheryl have done this month. Painted Lavender is back in stock, so if you’d like to create with your own stamps, shop the Online Store.

25 Years with Stampin’ Up: Best of Birthdays

What a fabulous start to the 25 Years of Stampin’ Up! celebration!  This Best of Birthdays set ($14.95!!)  is a great selection of birthday images and I immediately saw the potential for favors:

Maui Stamper Best of Birthdays Anniversary Blog TourOf course, this is a Stampin’ Up! birthday, so the favors have to be Stampin’ Up! favors!  And the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (DSP) is such a great bundle of designs and colors that I knew it would be a perfect choice for birthday fun.

Maui Stamper Best of Birthdays Anniversary Blog TourHow about a rosette for your birthday cake – or your cupcakes – or your centerpieces – or your flowers?  This rosette was a snap with the Designer Rosette Bigz XL die.  I cut the DSP about 1 1/2 inches wide and used two 12 inch strips.  A little Tombo (the Wonder Adhesive) attached the ends into a circle, and some hot glue on our Silicon Craft sheet secured the rosette quickly and easily.

The images are embossed in White and Tangerine Tango for an extra pop, and those curly ribbons are from the Sale-a-bration Sycamore Street ribbon and button bundle.  I’ve tried curling our ribbon before with limited luck, but I had an idea this time:  I wrapped the ribbon around a skewer and taped it down (and by the way, I consider a fistful of skewers an essential tool on my craft desk).  Then I spritzed it with a little hair spray – yep! – and gave it a shot with my heat tool.  I let it cool down and success!!  I had curls 🙂

Maui Stamper Best of Birthdays Anniversary Blog TourI love the Petite Pocket die for favors.  It’s a fun size and shape for anything from pencils and crayons to Pixie Stix or even Stampin’ Spritzers!  This image is also embossed to make it easier to color with markers – I’m a messy, outside-the-lines artist.  A few quick accents and these little pockets are done – with our beautiful, two-sided DSP this is an easy project to mass produce.

Maui Stamper Best of Birthdays Anniversary Blog TourAnd here’s my current favorite favor – the Petal Cone die!  It just takes one die cut folded over on itself to make this cute ice cream cone shape, and then a pair of fun DSP scalloped half-circles (also on the die) to dress up that cone.  Our super-soft seam binding is supple enough to thread through the buttonholes, so that button is tied right onto the favor.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this stop on the tour!  There’s much much more to come – skedalddle on over to see what Robin Merriman at http://www.TrinityDesignStudio.com has created or click on the link below to send you over.  And check back next month for the Best of Love 25th Anniversary Blog tour!

  • Stamp-a-ma-jig (SAMJ)
  • Big Shot and Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF)

Whoever said the military has a corner on the acronym market?  I use some of these so often that I have begun to feel guilty, and decided I’d better clear up any questions.  Feel free to print this page and keep it for reference!!

This card is one of the cards we’ll make on Saturday, January 12 (9 am) at 2-5-10:  2 hours, 5 cards, $10.  Leave a comment to RSVP.

I am THRILLED with all of the SAB options this year.  Stampin’ Up! has done an outstanding job of creating coordinated but wonderfully varied options and each SAB offering is FREE with a $50 product order.  Plan your purchases now, and stay tuned – over the next few weeks I’ll be offering some suggestions to Get to Fifty.

Thinking in blue and green

There’s a color thread running through my days:

Bliss Circa Cover

  • Bliss (Sale-a-bration) stamp set
  • Old Olive, Whisper White, Marina Mist, Pear Pizazz and Night of Navy card stock
  • Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper
  • Old Olive, Marina Mist and Night of Navy Classic ink pads
  • Old Olive taffeta 3/8 inch ribbon
  • Piercing tool, template and mat
  • Sticky Strip and Mini Glue Dots
  • Corner rounder punch

DANG!  I just noticed that I rounded the corners of the cover and not the DSP panel!!  I really don’t like it when I miss details like that.  Back to the drawing board!

Ah, but I still like this cover for my Circa Notebook.  I love shades of blue and green together.  Even the vivid tones seem restful to me, and using natural elements like flowers and butterflies enhance the peaceful feeling.  Good thing, because when I open those pages and see all the stuff on my list, I can use a little deep breathing!  Nothing ventured, nothing gained – so I put it all on my lists and put the pedal to the metal!

One little construction note for you…the Old Olive taffeta ribbon is laid down on Sticky Strip, with a little flap created above each butterfly panel.  After the panels were attached, I added a Mini Glue dot under the ribbon flap to make it stay down.  It’s more 3-dimensional in person.

I’m off to tackle my list!

Bee mine

I can only work with pink and red exclusively for so long:

January Club Valentine

  • Sweet Summer (SAB) and I {Heart} Hearts stamp sets
  • So Saffron, Very Vanilla, Regal Rose and Certainly Celery card stock
  • So Saffron, Regal Rose and Certainly Celery Classic ink pads and ink refills
  • Aquapainter, Victoria lace trim, Subtles brads

It’s nice to do a simple card once in a while.  Tone on tone stamping is an easy, inexpensive way to add texture to a card and the variety of hearts in the I {Heart} Hearts set give plenty of options.  I’m fond of that silly little bee, too.

Are your Valentines ready?

It’s Sale-a-bration!!

A little more Sale-a-bratin’

Would you like to see a couple more cards from our team meeting on Tuesday night?  I hope so:

Bliss by Kellie

Kellie designed this gorgeous bird-themed card.  The XL Two Step Bird punch worked perfectly with the Bliss set from Sale-a-bration.  The images in that set are awesome collage elements!  I tore my paper with such a strong angle that it makes the card look off-square, but that’s hand-made for you!

Sweet Summer by Crystal

Crystal chose some of my absolute favorite colors for this Sweet Summer Sale-a-bration card;  Baja Breeze and Pear Pizazz.  She colored the images with markers – did you notice that she used two different colors on the leaves?  And that Baja Breeze Seam Binding?   Simply gorgeous!

Sale-a-bration isn’t just about earning free stamps and other goodies – it’s about becoming part of the Stampin’ Up! family, too.  The Demonstrator kit is a bargain any day of the week, but during Sale-a-bration it’s 15% off PLUS Stampin’ Up! is throwing in a bundle of extra goodies worth $50.  Wouldn’t you like to be a Maui Stamper?

Here’s the Starter Kit – and you can customize it to suit yourself:

Stampin Up! 2011 Starter Kit

The extra goodies can be customized too – choose a punch and the Simply Sent products that work for you:

Ah, choices, choices, choices.  What will you choose?

Another peek at Sale-a-bration

We had a Maui Stampers team meeting on Tuesday night:

Maui Stampers

This was taken before the Stampin’ Frenzy started.  I think we made 8 projects that night!  We did conduct a wee bit ‘o business, but for us, the important business is the stamping.  I’m not going to list all the details, but here are a couple of Sale-a-bration projects to inspire you:

Punch Bunch valentine

Robbie brought us this Punch Bunch (SAB) Valentine to put together.  Look closely and you’ll see the texture from the Sizzix Texturz Plates on the Bashful Blue panel.  I’d forgotten about them, and I’m going to have to pull mine out again.  And how about that Glimmer paper?!?  Can’t begin to tell you why I don’t have it yet – I mean, I’m a demonstrator, for heaven’s sake!  That problem will be fixed pronto.

So Happy For You

This card is a CASE of a So Happy For You (SAB) card that I will gladly credit…just as soon as I can find it!  It was a larger card but the focal point was the same – I scaled it down to a 3 x 3 card and changed the colors.  The little stars are stamped once on the Whisper White card stock, then stamped again on a scrap and cut out, then sprayed with a bit of Shimmer Paint mixed with rubbing alcohol.  (No Dazzling Diamonds in my house.  Gotta keep Mr. Maui Stamper a Happy Camper.)  They’re attached with Mini Glue Dots because Stampin’ Dimensionals are just too big!    So Happy For You has loads of cute little images to mix and match, and a charming font to express all sorts of wishes.
