This is the same technique as yesterday – Adhesive Sheets to adhere DSP to a Thick Whisper White tag – but with a very different visual result. The starry night sky seemed to be begging for that perfect tree!
Stamps: Seasonal Chums (greeting)
Color Palette: Whisper White, Basic Black, Garden Green, Copper Foil
Accessories: Big Shot, Santas Sleigh Thinlits, Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Metallic Sequins (retired)
To get the copper “shadow” on both sides of the tree, I just cut the copper tree in two down the middle. I also shortened the trunk, as it was too long to fit on my tag.
This tree is embellished with one of the patterns from Touches of Texture. I added Rhinestone jewels to the branches, and I personally think it’s a little too over-the-top. You could drape this tree with a mini-sequin garland and it would really sparkle!
I loved this reindeer when it was introduced last year, and was delighted when it returned in the Annual Catalog this year. I especially love that it has a coordinating set of framelits, because I fussy cut way too many things as it is.
Stamps: Santa’s Sleigh
Color Palette: Whisper White, Basic Black, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Real Red, Garden Green
Accessories: Big Shot, Santa’s Sleigh Framelits, Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, Merry Music Specialty DSP, Adhesive Sheets, Real Red 1/8″ Ribbon, Wink of Stella
There’s a little Wink on those antlers and hooves! I layered the Merry Music Specialty DSP with a Thick Whisper White tag using the Adhesive Sheets. The DSP is on the thin side, and I like to be able to write on the back of the tag! The Adhesive Sheets are perfect for that job.
This was my first version, and I guess you could call it the quick-and-easy tag.Merry Wishes is from Oh What Fun, another fabulous returning set from last year’s Holiday Catalog.
I created a simple mask to allow the wreath to sit on the reindeer’s neck. I might like it better if I used an Aquapainter to add some color to the reindeer – I don’t think I’ve ever seen an albino!
There’s not a whole lot of sleighing in the islands. Native Hawaiians enjoyed the sport of land sledding, and although there are a few contemporary athletes, it’s relatively obscure (something to do with the fact that accidents were often quite deadly.)
But the sleigh – or really The Sleigh – is such an iconic Christmas image that I couldn’t resist:
Stamps: Oh What Fun
Color Palette: Real Red, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Shimmer White, Silver and Gold
Accessories: Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits, Big Shot, Precision Base Plate (you need this!!), Stampin’ Dimensionals, Linen thread, Jingle Bells, Real Red Glitter Embossing Powder, Silver Foil sheets, Gold Foil sheets
I love the Shimmery White card stock on this card. It’s very clean with a lot of texture from the foil and the Glitter Embossing Powder, and the shimmer makes me think of snow. (Yes, I know about snow. I have been to the University of Notre Dame in February, aka the Frozen Tundra. Thank goodness for Mary Travis and her boots.)
This is a 5″ x 5″ square card, but an envelope is quick and easy with the Envelope Punch Board.
I had a small environmental disaster making this card. You may know that certain persons in my household consider glitter to be of the Dark One. Tonight I was working with the Real Red Glitter EP and I moved the embossing tray just a little too quickly. Clouds of red glitter were IMMEDIATELY dispersed into the stamp room atmosphere. The EPA may have to be summoned. I finally took everything outside to try to get the EP back into the little jar (sort of like returning the genie to the lamp) and now my back lanai is infected. Fortunately, Mr. Maui Stamper is on a business trip until Friday afternoon.
If you’ll excuse me, I have work to do. If you want to create your own environmental disaster, shop HERE.
We’re just days – hours, really – from the release of the 2016 Holiday catalog and I thought you would enjoy a little sneak peek. Here’s something sparkly I designed:
This card has a lot of texture and shine, and might surprise you when you find how easy it is to assemble.

Oh What Fun was the coordinating stamp set from last year’s Christmas tag kit and remains in the Annual Catalog this year. I’m really happy to see it back as I was a huge fan of so many of the sentiments!
This is one of the card’s you’ll make if you join us on September 10th. Early Bird registration ends Thursday, September 1st!
