Last Chance for Painted Lavender & Something Fancy Stamps

Welcome to my April Last Dance/Last Chance series! Today’s a double-dipper: both Painted Lavender and Something Fancy are retiring. There are deep discounts on the Painted Lavender dies and stamps!

  • Stamps: Painted Lavender, Something Fancy
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Petunia Pop, Bubble Bath, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut & Emboss Machine, Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder, Hexagon Punch, Petunia Pop Bordered Ribbon, Blender Pen, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I’ve CASEd this from a card I swapped with the AH-MAZING Fiona Carson at OnStage 2025 in Brisbane, Australia. If you need an energy boost, check her out. She is a dynamo!

The images from Painted Lavender are stamped first, then embossed with the Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder for texture on texture 💕 I used Petunia Pop on the larger flowers, but I stamped them off before adding them to the card panel. And I added a touch of Daffodil Delight to the center of those flowers with the Blender Pen. Blender Pens are indispensable -you can add a little or a lot of color by controlling how much ink you add to the brush.

Don’t take your time shopping, as these stamps are gone for good when they sell out. Shop LAST CHANCE before it’s too late.

LAYERS OF BEAUTY: SOFT PINK TO BERRY

Layers of Beauty has been all over my craft desk (hint hint, you may see it again!).

  • Stamps: Layers of Beauty, Something Fancy
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Bubble Bath, Moody Mauve, Berry Burst, Gray Granite, Pebble Path, Memento Black
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Layers of Beauty Dies, Something Fancy Dies, Deckle Rectangles Dies, Layers of Beauty Masks, Stampin’ Brushes, Country Lace DSP (on sale August 2024!!), Pebble Path Jute Trim, Naturals Adhesive Back Sequins, Stampin’ Dimensionals

You’re not going to find leaves that color in nature, but frankly Scarlett, I don’t give a dang. (PG-13 Blog). And I think those sequins are from the archive (aka the “retired box”) but the Naturals Sequins are current, and they would work. Full disclosure from the Maui Stamper!

Coloring intricate designs with our masks is easy. Every masks is numbered, although you can go rogue and choose your own sequence. There’s a handy-dandy notch on each successive mask to help you align with precision. The system produces results that make you feel like a Stampin’ Rock Star. Want to be a SRS? HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Happy Thanksgiving, friends. For my American friends, may your companions be joyful and your meal be satisfying. For my friends in other countries, I wish you the same even though you may not celebrate this holiday!

  • Stamps: Pick of the Patch, Something Fancy
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Copper Clay, Memento Black
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Aspen Tree dies, Pick of the Patch Punch, Adhesive Back Speckled Dots, Joy of Christmas DSP, Stampn’ Dimensionals, Blending Brushes

I love these little squash! I think pairing them with the Aspen Tree does makes them more Autumn than Halloween.

Some of them are fussy cut, but I don’t mind. I created an ombré look by inking with a light color, then adding the darker tone with a soft touch.

I hope your day, however you celebrate it, is filled with gratitude.

SEASON OF CHIC: WATERCOLOR

I’m a late arrival to Season of Chic, but I’m now a true believer. It’s a versatile two-step stamping collection, and that makes it perfect for this simple watercolor technique:

Two white handmade cards with the sentiment "Happy Birthday", one with yellow flowers and one with purple flowers
  • Stamps: Season of Chic, Go To Greetings/Something Fancy
  • Color Palette: Basic White with Orchid Oasis, Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green and Parakeet Party/Basic White with Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Winter Wheat, and Old Olive
  • Accessories: Watercolor Paper, Stampin’ Spritzer, Dauber, Big Boss, Chic dies, Deckle Rectangle dies/Stitched Rectangle dies (retired), Metallic Ribbon/In Color Jute, Tinsel Gems/In Color dots

Do you have a favorite demonstrator (or two) whose work you never grow tired of? For me, Tami Hewlett is one of those people. She recently shared a stunning card showcasing a simple watercolor technique, and I really wanted to give it a try. Ink is applied to the stamp and the stamp is misted with water. Once it’s been stamped on watercolor paper, details are added using the two-step stamping technique.

I don’t have the Tropical Leaf Bundle that she used, but these flowers made me happy. I tried a number of color combinations, and the range of yellows and purples were very satisfying. For this technique, it makes a big difference to have that two-step outline. It adds shape and definition to the soft, flowing watercolor.

I originally intended to use Orchid Oasis with Starry Sky, but the combination was too dark and didn’t have enough contrast. Highland Heather provided the balance I needed.

Each flower is unique, depending on where I placed the ink and how much water it got from the Spritzer. Tami applied the darker ink direct to the stamp, but I found it gave me more control to use a dauber.

The watercolor paper makes a big difference. It absorbs the water, distributing the color evenly without distortion of the paper.

What color combination would you choose? I’m looking for more ideas! If you’d like to try this technique, shop for Season of Chic stamps and dies, or Tami’s choice, the Tropical Leaf bundle. Either way, I’m confident you’ll have a lot of fun!

BEST LABEL and SOMETHING FANCY

I’m still playing with DIY backgrounds. I’ve found that punches work well as every piece is the same size and shape. Best Label created a lot of texture!

  • Stamps: Something Fancy, Country Bouquet
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Lemon Lolly, Soft Sea Foam
  • Accessories: Best Label punch, Big Boss, Stylish Shapes Dies, Textured Floral Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I confess that I grew a little weary of lining up and adhering all those little Best Labels. Don’t look too closely, as they’re not perfectly straight! If I were to make another, I would use pencil lines or washi tape to create a grid, but I was feeling bold and trusted my eye to get it straight. Oops.

A Handmade card with a textured background and a square element with the phrase “Here’s to beautiful beginnings and happily ever afters”

The little hearts are from Country Bouquet. Since they’re open, they’re a light-touch accent to the sentiment. I thought about adding some Lemon Lolly Solid Gems but left them off in favor of the little floral clusters from the Textured Floral dies.

I hope you’re inspired to have some fun creating backgrounds with punches. Maybe I’ll try a little larger one next time 😁 Have a look at the Online Store.

EDEN’S GARDEN in MONOCHROME

Eden’s Garden hasn’t seen much ink recently, but I needed a sympathy card and this starry Sky monochromatic design was just the thing:

  • Stamps: Eden’s Garden, Something Fancy
  • Color Palette: Very Vanilla, Starry Sky
  • Accessories: Masking Paper, Dainty Flowers DSP – SAB 23, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I was inspired by Christie’s Stampin Spot and kept close to her design. This is a card I’ll make again to have on hand – it’s a design that lends itself to a variety of uses.

I also made a Crumb Cake version. I’m happy with it, but definitely prefer Starry Sky. The extra touch of the Dainty Flowers Designer Series paper really sets it off.
