Kit-Tastic Christmas

Have you looked at the kits in the Holiday catalog?  I mean really looked?

This is my favorite kit:

Maui Stamper Oh What Fun TagsThese tags (#139602, $21.00 for 30 tags) are CUTE and the stamp set (sold separately #140386 $21.00) is one of those Holiday Keepers that you will pull out year after year.  I put them together myself:

Maui Stamper Oh What Fun Tags KitDon’t you love my tree?  I bought it a few years ago after Christmas on clearance and I use it for everything.  You’ve got to act quickly when you see something great like this on Maui – it doesn’t last!  There are birds 🙂

Maui Stamper Oh What Fun Tags KitI mean, seriously – Holly, Happy Christmas (so Aussie!) and a BELL???

Maui Stamper Oh What Fun Tags KitThere are To: and From: stamps for the back of the tags – this kit has everything!

Maui Stamper Oh What Fun Tags KitThat big ol’ glitter snowflake is ah-mazing.  And there are three in each kit – thirty tags, three each of 10 designs.  It’s well worth the cost of the kit and the stamps to do at home.

However, Crystal and I will have stations to complete sets of tags and the shaker cards below at our annual Christmas Festivities on November 14th.  Sign up early!!  You can choose tags in sets of 10 (one each of 10 different designs) and/or cards in sets of 3 (one each of 3 different designs).  You can even select multiples of each of our sets – for example, two sets of tag kits to make 20 tags.  Don’t wait to sign up!

Maui Stamper To You and YoursThis is To You and Yours, a Shaker card kit that makes 18 cards.  (#139647, $24.00)  These are charming, eye-catching, and as fun to send as to receive.

Maui Stamper Season To Season WreathThis gorgeous wreath can be updated for Halloween, Autumn/Thanksgiving, and Christmas – and that’s just using the included pieces.  Imagine Valentines decorations, Easter Eggs, Spring flowers – the list goes on.  (Season to Season Wreath, #139645, $27.00)

We won’t be offering that as part of our Kit-Tastic-Christmas, but if you have a group of friends that wants to get together and assemble these, let me know and we will set a date!

Sign up for class projects by November 1st.  Make all 10 Oh What Fun Tags  (one of each design) for $12, or make 3 To You and Yours Shaker cards for $9 (again, one of each).  Or make them both!  Or make multiples of your favorite.  It’s up to you.

Whimsical Houses

Who knew you could have so much fun with houses?

Maui Stamper Holiday Homes TagsThese are SUCH FUN to color.  (The truth:  I have ALWAYS loved to color!!)  I’ve used both Stampin’ Write Markers and Blendabilities on these – the Stampin’ Write markers provide more options in the pastel range.

Maui Stamper Holiday Homes TagsThe Under the Tree Specialty DSP in the Holiday catalog is a heavy-weight paper that is just right for making tags, and the Angle Topper punch makes the same shape EVERY TIME.  (I KNOW.  Don’t you love it?)

Maui Stamper Holiday Homes TagsThat Glimmer Paper heart is punched with the Owl punch – that’s the teeniest heart punch we have.

Maui Stamper Holiday Homes TagsIt’s easy to coordinate Bakers’ Twine with your project – we have so many colors.  These are quick to make – what are you waiting for?

One more tag…

This one is from Collage Tag Class a couple of weeks ago:

Maui Stamper Collage Tag Kinda Eclectic

  • Stamps:  Kinda Eclectic
  • Color Palette:  Crumb Cake, Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Coastal Cabana, Very Vanilla
  • Accessories:  Big Shot and Apothecary Accents Framelits, Vintage Faceted Buttons, Tea Lace Doilies, Jute Ribbon, Elegant and Bitty Butterfly punches, Crumb Cake Seam Binding, Coastal Cabana Thick Twine

This is an “everything but the kitchen sink” kind of tag.  In class, everyone had a lot of fun adapting and improvising – which is the name of the game!

One little detail I should point out:  I pulled out the stitching on the side of the jute ribbon (yeah, I’ll admit it – it was a pain) in order to unravel the ribbon to create this fringe.  It was worth the trouble.

A Tag Makes the Package

Maui Stampers I Like You BlendabilitiesI’m in love with all of our 2014-2015 Host Stamps – this one is I Like You, and it’s a natural to color with Blendabilities!

Maui Stampers I Like You BlendabilitiesI chose Rich Razzleberry for the flowers to compliment the retired ribbon from ages ago, and added a bit of Daffodil Delight and Old Olive for accent.  It was a very quick, easy tag to put together and I think it makes the package!

A Sweet and Feminine Tag

One of the tags we made in the Collage Tags class a week ago was this Blush Blossom confection:

Maui Stamper Blush Blossom Floral Tag

  • Stamps:  Dictionary, Gorgeous Grunge, Kinda Eclectic, Mixed Bunch, Flower Shop, Four You
  • Color Palette:  Blush Blossom, Whisper White, Soft Suede, Old Olive
  • Accessories:  Big Shot and Ovals Framelits, Blossom, Pansy and Petite Petals punches, Little Labels Punch Pack, Antique Brads, White Bakers Twine, Old Olive 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, 5/8″ Organza Ribbon, Stampin’ Sponges

Everyone’s tags turned out a little differently – because everyone stamps a little differently!  Collage is such a fun technique, but it does take a LOT of different images to work.

Maui Stamper Blush Blossom Floral TagThe flower is punched and stacked.  I used a birthday greeting on this one, but it would be a beautiful bridal or baby shower tag too.  Have fun with it!

One last Valentine

I’ve saved this post because it was the Valentine I gave my wonderful husband, and it didn’t seem right to post it before he received it.  The idea came from Becky Roberts, whose projects I continue to CASE with reckless abandon.  I fell for this folder as soon as I saw it, and thought it would make a great club project.  Once I developed my own sample, I realized it would not only be a great club project, but would work perfectly for my Valentine.  Here’s the outside:

Valentine Coupon booklet

This uses the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set (don’t forget $2 from the sale of each set goes to the American Red Cross through February 28) and the Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel. There’s also the Big Shot with the Scallop Circles #2 and Originals Circles #2 dies. I used the Full Heart, Heart to Heart, and Scallop Trim Border punches as well, and finished with the Real Red 1/2″ Striped Grosgrain ribbon.

Here’s the inside:

Open Valentine Folder with Tags

Isn’t it clever?  There’s a small Cello Bag attached with Sticky Strip to each side, and I can fit two little tags inside each bag.  You could use the tags as gift tags, but I was inspired to make the tags into coupons.  Each one has a little message on the back, and he can redeem them as he likes.  The possibilities for this idea are endless.

Here are the tags a little closer:

First two tags

I’ve used 5/8″ Satin Ribbon from the Occasions mini on all of the tags, and incorporated the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper as well.

Here are the other two tags:

Second set of tags

These tags use the brand new XL Two Step Bird punch and the fabulous Beautiful Wings Embosslit for the Big Shot.  All these goodies made this project really easy to put together.

If there’s enough interest, I’ll put together a tutorial with dimensions and more instructions.  Becky said in her post that she had made hers and sent them off and didn’t plan a tutorial, so considering all I’ve gained from her blog I think it would be the least I could do.  Either way, enjoy and CASE away!!

Wait! Don’t toss those cards…

Re-use, reduce, recycle.

If you love paper and paper crafts, then it’s likely you save old cards – even commercially printed cards.  I’m guilty as charged, and further guilty of saving pretty ribbons from Christmas packages as well.  In the past, I’ve used a hand-held tag punch to create small gift tags, but this year I stepped it up.

Recycled cards from Two Tags Bigz

I certainly hope you bought the Stampin’ Up! Two Tags Bigz die (#115954, $21.95) when it was on sale during the 12 Days of Holiday Sales promotion, because that’s what I used to make these tags.  A stack of old cards, a pile of Christmas ribbon and about half an hour with the Big Shot yielded a bunch of tags ready for duty next year.  Here’s a closer look:

Recycled Santa tag

To encourage my family to wrap their own packages, I have gift wrap, ribbon and tags readily available around the first of December.  The tags and some stamped gift card holders are in a basket and everyone knows it’s first come, first served – this year we ran short on the afternoon of the 24th!  Getting a head start on next year’s tags avoids panic in December and keeps me from looking like a crazy bag lady when my family discovers packages of old cards stashed with the Christmas decorations.  Be sure to check that there’s nothing written on the inside of your image; someone else’s message about their kid’s moment of glory at the band concert shouldn’t compete with “To Kimo,  Love Tutu”.

I think there’s another stash of old cards somewhere.  Off to crank out a few more tags.  Re-use.  Reduce.  Recycle.

Happy New Year.

Tags in little boxes

I’ve mentioned before – I’m a container kind of person.  I like little drawer organizers and things to hold stuff on my desk and Tupperware in my pantry and boxes for my shoes.  When I saw the Christmas Punch Hostess stamp set in the Idea Book and Catalog (page 14) I put the little box full of tags on my To Do list.

(Digression:  My To Do list is an act of faith and a work of art.  It has catagories and priorities and there is always more undone than done at the end of the day.  I hope it will always be that way.)

Crystal and I played around with the box until we liked it, and then added it to our tag class.  Peanut butter and Jelly.   Romeo and Juliet.   Tags in a box.  It had to be.
