No one likes to be sick…

…and I have the flu.  Bah Humbug and all that.

I’m feeling pretty sorry for myself, and although it took me nearly all day to get it done, I made a little something to cheer myself up.  It started when I had to go find a fresh box of tissue.  It was an ugly box.  I knew if I was going to get better, I needed more than an ugly box of tissues:

Maui Stamper Mosaic Madness Tissue BoxThere, isn’t that better?  If I’m going to need tissue (and unfortunately, I do) it should come from a pretty tissue box!

Maui Stamper Mosaic Madness Tissue Box sideThe new 2013-2014 catalog has LOTS of suites of products, and some of the suites have sweet bundles so that we can save a little extra.  The Mosaic theme has stamps, a TIEF, AND a punch.  Stampin’ Up! is known for coordination, and this catalog brings it to another level!

Maui Stamper Mosaic Madness Tissue Box topI scrunched up a  bunch of different punched elements – mostly flowers and scallops – to create the flower trims for the top.  I added a few ribbons with my trusty hot glue gun and finished off the project with a bunch of Rhinestone jewels.

Now I just need to get healthy again so the creative process doesn’t take so long.

Frankensniffles

Cheryl and I had lunch a week ago to celebrate her birthday, and SHE brought ME a present:

Frankensniffles

So CUTE!!  He even has “bolts”.

This is a simple project that can be adapted to any season, decor or other whim – check HERE for instructions!

But what you really have to see is what happened after lunch.  Cheryl was all ready to bring her Big Shot into the restaurant because she wanted me to help her figure out a technique, but we decided our waiter wasn’t exactly the paper-crafting type and that we’d better try it in the parking lot.  Little did I know that she was ready to rock and roll:

Cheryl's Mobile Big Shot

Who else do you know that carries a folding table in the back of her van WITH her Big Shot?  There we were, crafting away in the parking lot.

Honestly, you’ve got your Food Trucks, how about Big Shot Minivans?  I see a new business opportunity!

Time for a new tissue box

Time for a new tissue box cover!  Santa doesn’t quite fit the decor any more.  The tree is down, the decorations are put away, and it’s time to think Valentine’s Day:

Valentine Tissue box

  • Punch Potpourri Level I Hostess Set
  • Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizazz card stock
  • Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink Classic ink pads; Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write marker
  • Big Shot, Clearlits Scallop Rectangle and Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions folder
  • Bitty Pack, XL Two Step Bird, Blossoms Petal, and XL Full Heart  punches
  • Stampin’ Sponges, Sponge Daubers, and Pearl Jewels

I’m not so sure about all the sponging on this project – I think it worked better with the Petals-a-Plenty Embossing folders where the images were more uniform.  I’m happy with the little bird and all the flower images though.  I should have added the Boho Blossoms punch to the supply list, except I DON’T HAVE IT.  How can this be?  What was I thinking?  I had to cut those flowers out by hand.  Humph.  Next order.

Here’s a better look at the top:

I was very clever (pardon me while I reach around and pat myself on the back) when I centered the Scallop Square in the  top layers.  There are two panels, one on top of the other, so I had to be very, very clever:

Sizzix Scallop Rectangle Clearlit

I carefully measured and marked the center of my Clearlit with a dot of Sharpie ink, then marked the center of each of the top panels with a pencil.  With a little attention to detail as I ran the panels through the Big Shot, I positioned the rectangles just where I wanted them.  And yes, I am very pleased with myself.

If you’d like to make one of these, there is a great tutorial at Splitcoast stampers and I have no intention of recreating the wheel.

This does not mean I intend to get a cold, or that anyone in my household is permitted to catch a cold.  This is Home Decor, not an invitation to any germs that may be lurking out there.  Germs can scram!!
