One more craft fair…

Crystal and I will be at the Nisei Sons and Daughters Craft Fair on Sunday – lots of gifties!

Maui Stamper Santa Box Fancy Favor Tags 4 YouThis is the (sadly) retired Fancy Favor box, but with your Simply Scored you could create one like it in a jiffy!  Since we now have both the Curly Label and Petite Curly Label punches, Santa’s belt buckle is a snap.  And if you haven’t picked up Tags 4 You from the Holiday catalog, take another look – it’s a perfect match with the Label Bracket punch.

Maui Stamper Best of Christmas Tag A BoxThe Burlap ribbon – very trendy this season! – offsets the color of the Tag a Box perfectly.   A little Lion Coffee and some Ghiradelli make this gift most welcome.Maui Stamper Sparkly TagsThese tags are for that perfect bottle of wine gift for that very special friend 🙂  And yes, the Bigz Two Tags die is retired also.  I guess if you want these you’ll just have to come down to the gym at Maui High this Sunday (December 8, 2013) from 9am until 2pm.

See you there!

A cold is NOT good for Mojo

I went and saw the good Doctor today for help with my various and sundry symptoms…since it’s a cold there’s not much he can do, but he did give me a couple of magic potions.  It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this lethargic!

blogtour-stampmonth-Dec

The RemARKable Blog Tour is rolling around again this weekend – check in on Sunday for loads of inspiration using the Affection Collection stamp set! The RemARKable stampers are an amazingly talented lot.
Maui Stamper Affection CollectionSince I’ve been under the weather and without my mojo, I’m sharing a couple of projects  from my tag class:

Maui Stamper Merry and Bright Bottle Tag

Very simple almost one layer tag using the ornaments image from Merry and Type.  I stamped in Midnight Muse, stamped separately a second time in Marina Mist and cut out that second image to pop up on a dimensional.  Yes, CUT OUT – sorry, no framelit for this one!  I am getting spoiled.

Each ornament has a few strokes of Champagne Mist Shimmer paint, and the Marina Mist popped up ornament has an inset cut (again!!) from the Silver Glimmer paper.  The tab on the top is designed to go over the neck of a bottle – very easy!

Maui Stamper Sensational Seasons Gingerbread Man tag

This is my favorite “Go To” tag from the Two Tags Bigz die – just a scallop circle and a gingerbread man – a few pearls – and you’re done!

These tags are part of my tag class next week – let me know if you would like to join us!

Sparkle and shine – and FREE INK!!!

We interrupt our previously scheduled post to shout:  FREE INK!!!

OK, where were we?

Ah yes.  Seriously, who doesn’t love a little bit of sparkle?  I’m not a super-sparkly, bedazzled kind of girl but I definitely love a touch of bling.  Crystal and I went all out with these tags for last weekend’s Christmas Extravaganza:

We embossed the Petite Pocket and dressed it up with a little bit of Ruffled Tulle, then filled it with a sparkly pair of tags.  It’s just the right size!  The tags are easy as can be – and pretty fabulous:

There were two classes, so there were two pockets and two sets of tags.  Here’s the second pocket without the tags in it:

And the final set of tags:

Bloomin’ Madness

The Blossom Petals punch from the Summer Mini catalog inspired me to think about a flowers class…one that would show lots of ways of embellishing with flowers.  The Bloomin’ Madness class last Saturday was the result, and one of our projects was a bookmark:

Bloomin' Madness Bookmark

  • Charming and All Holidays Stamp sets
  • Shimmer White and Baja Breeze card stock
  • Baja Breeze and Rose Red Classic ink pads
  • Big Shot and Two Tags Bigz die
  • Blossom Petals and 1 inch circle punches
  • Vintage Flower Adornments
  • Crop-a-dile
  • White 5/8 inch satin ribbon
  • Tombo the Wonder Adhesive

Peggy’s idea was to use this as a bottle tag when you give a gift of wine.  I like the way that woman thinks.

When I construct a flower like this, I invariably start with a small circle of cardstock.  I get enough Tombo (the Wonder Adhesive) all over my fingers as it is without having to keep track of all the pieces.  The punched circle provides a platform to build on so that I can concentrate on getting Tombo on just the ends of my fingers instead of halfway up my arms.  (Don’t laugh.  It’s been done.)

Those little Adornments have really grown on me – I only have a couple left from the package of 24.  They’re not being carried over into the Summer Mini catalog (which I have in my hot little hands) and we can only hope that they’ll make an appearance in the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  Honestly, I would love to be in on one of those meetings when they decide what stays and what goes.  Is it based on sales?  Trends?  Shelli’s favorites?  A dartboard?  Seriously, you’ve got to wonder sometimes.  (Don’t get me started on Branch Out.)  Make a note of June 1 on your calendar, though, because that’s the traditional release date for the Retirement list for the current year catalog.

Building up the tag stash

I like to have a healthy stash of gift tags long before I start my Christmas shopping.  You could consider it a security blanket; if I have the tags, the packages will follow.  I mail a lot of gifts (thank you USPS for Flat Rate Boxes!!) and they need to be purchased, wrapped and tagged before they’re mailed.

I had a few extra tags from the Two Tags die sitting on my DISASTROUSLY messy desk and started to play with the Tags Til Christmas stamp set:

Pine Tag

  • Northern Hearts, Jolly Old Saint Nick and Tags Til Christmas stamp sets
  • Riding Hood Red and Naturals Ivory card stock
  • Vellum and Deck the Halls Designer Series paper
  • Riding Hood Red and Early Espresso Classic ink pads
  • Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write marker and Frost White Shimmer paint
  • Ornament and XL Decorative Label punches; Blender pen
  • Hemp twine and Linen thread

I inked “Merry Christmas” on the sentiment from Saint Nick and stamped it on the vellum, then set it aside to dry for a while.  For some reason I find the red inks take longer to dry – must be something to do with the pigment – and the vellum makes them slower still.  I trimmed it to a long strip and then set it in place over the Designer Series paper before I punched the ornament shape.  A couple of drops of Tombo the Wonder Adhesive hold it in place.

On the inside…OH!  Here:

Open Pine Tag

As I was saying…on the inside I just stamped a few more of those cheery little snowflakes from Northern Hearts and added that snazzy XL Decorative Label.  I inked the stamp in Espresso and Blender penned (yes, it’s a word, I just made it up) the ink off the branches so I could marker it back in Artichoke.  I painted the tops of the pine cones with lots of Frost White to look like piled up snow.  We do have some pine trees (and cones) growing on Maui, but snow – well, not so much.  You have to imagine that part.
