LAST CHANCE; WINTERLY TREE TOPS

Welcome to my April Last Dance/Last Chance series! Here’s another beauty I’m sorry to see retire, because I have really enjoyed these birdies. I don’t know if there are any birds with this exact coloring in the wild, but I claim artistic license and I don’t care.

Color Palette: Basic White, Blueberry Bushel, Crumb Cake, Pecan Pie, Wild Wheat
Accessories: Stamp Cut & Emboss Machine, Stylish Shapes dies, Timeless Plaid DSP, Stampin’ Blends, Linen Thread, Stampin’ Dimensionals

This square center panel is made with the Stylish Shapes dies, which are NOT on the Last Chance list (whew!!) It’s backed with a Wild Wheat panel, which IS Last Chance as it’s a retiring 23-25 In Color. You know, when I first saw Wild Wheat I had some rather *ahem* uncharitable thoughts about the color, but once I started pairing it with other colors I became a fan. I especially love it with blue, black and grey tones.

The double gate fold is a lot simpler than it looks. Score a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of card stock at 2″, 3 3/4″, 7 1/4″ and 9″ to create the side panels. Once you’ve embellished the side panels, add a focal point of almost any shape to one side and you’re done!

LAST CHANCE APRIL 2025!!

I’m always conflicted over the Last Chance List. There are things I am so sad to see leave our lineup. (There are a few I can legitimately wish Good Riddance!) But I know this makes room for new products, and who doesn’t love new?

There’s a lot here – I’ll share my thoughts about just a few.

Seaside Wishes. I hoped we would have it one more year. This goes into my FOREVAH stash, especially with that hybrid embossing folder. Don’t wait, this one is already on low inventory.

BOHO BLUE. 😱😱😱 I mean, it’s an In Color, I knew it, but still…

This is my absolute favorite light blue. It’s that perfect tone, perfect intensity, perfect color. I can only hope it will be back someday in a Color Refresh. But not this year.

The Greetings of the Season dies are perfect year round dies. The stamps are holiday stamps, but these dies are work-horses for every day. They even come with the puka (hole) for your Linen Thread. And they’re on sale.

If Stampin’ Up! ever retires Linen Thread I will tear out my hair.

WINTERLY TREE TOPS WREATH

Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper is a great way to step up a card with a minimum of effort and bulk. Today’s Winterly Tree Tops card uses both the Country Woods (all time fave!) and Nature’s Sweetness DSP options to set the stage for a holiday card.

That beautiful red filigree is from Regal Flora, and I cut it in half so it would reach from side to side on the card front. It’s a nice alternative to ribbon when you’re looking for a way to tie together two parts of a card.

The Spotlight on Nature dies pair very well with the Deckled Circle dies to create a layer that makes you think wreath but allows that beautiful greenery at the top to take center stage.

WINTERLY BIRDS IN THE TREETOPS

If you’ve followed me for very long, you’ll know I love my birdies. These two are quite the Winterly pair: they look as though they’re having a little spat. But they’re doing a good job of looking good while they do!

I used the grid from Spotlight on Nature to add some texture behind the pair. Texture is one of my favorite simple add-ons. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it doesn’t add any volume to the card. I took my coloring cues from that gorgeous Winter Meadow DSP, and I slipped in the Summer Splash ribbon even though it’s nit technically in the paper. I think it works!
