I love trees. There were beautiful aspens growing outside my first apartment in college and this beautiful Aspen Tree die cut brings back memories of standing on the second floor deck, studying their intricate bark. (I know the leaf doesn’t match, I’m claiming artistic license.)

The clean edges of the die cut trees contrast well with the soft coloring achieved with daubers and the Blending Brush. Starry Sky is a perfect choice for a twilight sky behind the trees, and the little “dits” from Forever Fern suggest distant constellations.
I cut a stack of these Aspen Trees and keep finding new ways to style them. Gnomes, reindeer, birds, even Santa in a sleigh cutting across the sky would all work here, and in the spring, washes of rhododendron could fill the bottom half of the back panel.
