Thanks: Plentiful Plants

I needed a few thank you cards and found this great layout using our Designer Series paper. I have (ahem) “some” DSP that needs to be used, and I love the pop of color with Basic White:

You might have noticed there aren’t any stamped plants. The sentiment is from Plentiful Plants, but all that white-on-white “greenery” is from the Poinsettia dies. I’ve been trying to use up all the bits that are floating around on my craft desk, and it’s a challenge. Apparently in order to use up the bits, I need to create a few more to coordinate with them. Net result? MORE BITS.

How are you using up your bits? Please don’t tell me I’m the only one who keeps them. I’m trying to edit, use, and share them to clear my brain and my space, but it’s going slowly I’m afraid.

Using Designer Series Paper with Garden Wishes

I love our Designer Series Paper (DSP). My favorite thing is the way it coordinates with our products, both colors and images. But wait, there’s more! I love the range of styles, the images themselves, and the perfect weight: not too heavy, not too light, jussst right. The fact that it’s two-sided (and often a multi-colored design on one side and a monochromatic design on the other) expands your crafting options even further.

DSP is an easy way to add interest or complexity to a simple design. With a couple of well-measured cuts, you have a quick addition to your project that often just makes it sing. Our Dandy Garden 6×6 DSP has been a star in the January-June Mini Catalog, and it’s going to retire at the end of June. It coordinates with both the Garden Wishes and Dragonfly Garden stamp sets, so it’s a real hero.

Maui Stamper Stampin Up Dandy Garden DSP Garden Wishes
  • Stamps: Garden Wishes, Many Messages
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Mossy Meadow, BumbleBee, Basic Black
  • Accessories: Stitched Rectangle dies, Messages die, Stampin’ Blends, Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim*, Stampin Dimensionals, Wink of Stella, Dandy Garden DSP*
  • *Retiring June 30 and available while supplies last

I used the Daffodil Delight and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends to color this image, and treated the light and dark toned Blends as separate shades. The Dandelion leaves need a light color and a soft touch to retain the detail in the images. I’ve also used a very old, long-retired tool to get that color spritz. I just can’t seem to pull off the paint-brush-flick with any reliable results!

I did a series of these cards with my clubs using the monochromatic papers from the Dandy Garden DSP pack, and I had a narrow strip of the Bumblebee Dandelion design left over. I really wanted to use it, and came up with the idea of adding the Mossy Meadow strip to the side in order to fill out the front of the card.

I used the same layout with a multi-hued DSP option from the same pack. It’s definitely colorful! This card includes one of the little ladybug embellishments that will retire the end of June. They’re the perfect size to secure with a Glue Dot.

True Love for Snailed It

Our catalog calendar this year is a little different than in the past. While the Annual Catalog ends on May 3, the January-June catalog is available through June 30. That means that the True Love Designer Series paper and my favorite Snailed It images will be around for a while, and I intend to make use of them as much as I can!

Maui Stamper Stampin Up True Love with Snailed It
  • Stamps: Snailed It, Many Messages
  • Color Palette: Basic Black, Basic White, Magenta Madness, Seaside Spray (retiring 5/3)
  • Accessories: True Love Designer Series Paper, Big Boss, Stitched Shapes Dies (retiring 5/3), Messages Die, Snail dies, Old World Paper Embossing Folder (retiring 5/3), Stampin’ Blends, Fine Tip Glue Pen, Stampin’ Dimensionals

This is a great example of a simple layout stepped up with the use of dies, DSP and embossing folders to add interest and texture. It’s just a few rectangles and a snail, right? That little “Oh happy day” sentiment from the Many Messages bundle is a great multi-purpose message. I can add Congratulations or Happy Birthday on the inside when I’m ready to send.

It’s hard to see, but trust me, those snaily eyebubs have some shine. I keep a long bamboo skewer on my craft desk (indispensable in so many ways). I’ve used it here to add some Fine Tip Glue to emphasize my snail’s eyes. The skewer gives me more control over how much and where the glue ends up.

A Darling Donkey Valentine

I hope there’s room for more Darling Donkeys in your heart. I’ve been working on Valentines, and what says I love you any better than a donkey with a rose in his teeth?

Maui Stamper Stampin Up Darling Donkeys A Wish for Everything Valentines
  • Stamps: Darling Donkeys, A Wish for Everything
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Memento Black, Rich Razzleberry, Smokey Slate, Petal Pink, Shaded Spruce
  • Accessories: Ombré Designer Series paper (Sale-a-bration 2021.1), Big Boss, Messages die, Heart dies (retired, but there are current ones), Stampin’ Blends, Paper Snips, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, Clear Epoxy Droplets, Well Suited Twine Combo pack

The technique is really simple. I used a heart shaped die placed overlapping the edge of the top panel on the card. The DSP just needs to be big enough to cover the opening, and once they’re secured I added a mat and adhered it to the card front. My donkey is fussy cut with snips and set up on mini-dimensionals, and I unraveled the grey twine to make it softer and less bulky.

Maui Stamper Stampin Up Darling Donkeys A Wish for Everything Valentines

I stamped off “happy” for a tonal effect to coordinate with that fabulous Ombré paper. Let’s not talk about how many orders I’ve placed to be sure I have enough of that paper now, can we agree on that?

If you really need that Ombré paper like I need that Ombré paper, pop over to the Online Store and make an order of at least $50 and then choose that paper as your free gift! Ombré?? and Free?? in the same sentence? Must be my lucky day.
