Splendid Day + Organic Beauty

To be honest, I bought the entire True Beauty bundle for this gorgeous lattice die:

  • Stamps: Splendid Day
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Night of Navy, Gold
  • Accessories: Big Boss, Organic Beauty Dies, Brick 3D Embossing Folder, Starry Sky Metallic Woven Ribbon, Pearl Basic Jewels, Tombo Multipurpose Glue, Stampin’ Dimensionals

That die pops right out when you run it through the Big Boss. The lattice takes this – or any project – straight to the top. I used a little Tombo Multipurpose Glue to adhere it to the card base. I like Tombo better than the Fine Tip Glue pen in this situation because it doesn’t dry as quickly. It takes me a while to make my way around the lattice.

PRO TIP: When you’re using Tombo to get coverage on a detailed die, pour a little puddle onto a piece of scrap paper. Use any pointy tool to dab and drop the adhesive. I like to use a bamboo skewer so I can toss it when it gets gunky.

This card doesn’t have a sentiment on the front. When I’m ready to send it, I’ll choose the sentiment that fits the occasion and stamp it inside. Having a stash of cards waiting for a sentiment has saved this last-minute girl many times!!

Once again I’ve used our Metallic Woven Ribbon to make a whispy embellishment. I tie a small overhand knot in the center of a strand, then tease out the threads with my TakeYourPick tool. I put a glue dot behind the knot and tuck it into my die cut image. Get your Metallic Woven Ribbon HERE: these colors mix and match with many of our base colors as well as the 22-24 In Color Collection.

Farewell to First Frost

This time of year I get a little verklempt over some of the retiring stamps. Others, not so much – but I’ll be sorry to see First Frost leave the catalog. I discovered a little embossed bit in my “pieces” a couple of days ago, and brought the set out for one last inking.

I cut small pieces from the Stampin’ Dimensionals sheet to adhere the embossed vellum stem. The White Embossing Powder perfectly masked the dimensionals, and I was able to cut them in narrow strips by using the extra bit of foam that’s left behind when all the dimensionals are used.

Funny, when I stamped the first images (Memento Black ink on Whisper White) I liked them so well I almost didn’t use the vellum bit that was my inspiration in the first place. Instead, I created this second version using Basic Gray and Very Vanilla card stock. It’s almost the same, although I used the Metallic Pearls and a retired sympathy sentiment (Teeny Tiny Wishes.)

I’m having trouble deciding which one I prefer! But I’ll tell you this: if you’re on the fence about adding First Frost (or Beautiful Bouquet and its great sentiments) to your craft stash, you’ll need to visit the Online Store right away as these two sets will be retired at close of business on June 2, 2020. Don’t dilly dally.

Avant Garden Welcome v2.0

Once I decided I liked the Avant Garden stamps, I couldn’t stop playing with color combinations:

Maui Stamper Avant Garden Stampin' Up! Sale-a-bration 2017

It’s a funny coincidence that I wasn’t all that crazy about the 2016-2018 In Color Sweet Sugarplum. Maybe it’s the name.  Maybe it’s something else. But as much as I know a lot of people who loved this color at first sight, I did not.

I guess it just had to grow on me.

  • Stamps: Avant Garden (Sale-a-bration 2017), sentiment from a retired demonstrator-only set
  • Color Palette:  Whisper White, Sweet Sugarplum, Crushed Curry
  • Accessories:  Sweet Sugarplum ruched ribbon, Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Thinlits, Pearl Jewels, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The color gradations come from stamping off (inking your stamp, stamping lightly onto scratch paper, and then stamping your project with the ink that remains on the stamp.)  One of the things that I liked about the way that process worked on this card was that by stamping off lightly, there were gradations remaining on the flower image.

There’s one more version to come – stay tuned!

Versamark goodness

I was going back through some old posts and discovered to my great chagrin that I had repeated a post.  Auwe!  And no, I’m not going to tell you which one it was.  As we used to taunt each other when I was a kid (back in the day before there was dirt) “That’s for me to know and for you to find out!”

On the flip side, I discovered that I hadn’t posted everything I’d intended.  This should give you a little insight into the moderately organized chaos that is my life.  I really work hard at being organized, but I’m far from perfect.

Pasley Prints Heart from convention 2010

  • Paisley Prints and So Many Thanks stamp sets
  • Soft Suede,  Whisper White, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizazz and Pretty in Pink card stock
  • Versamark ink pad; Soft Suede classic in pad
  • Heart, Jewelry tag and Bitty punches
  • Piercing tool, template and mat
  • Linen Thread; Pearl jewels

Sometimes I forget how easy it is to work with the Versamark pad.  When I first started stamping, it was my best friend in the world – any color, any time.  Now I take it for granted unless I want to emboss something and need that sticky Versa-Goodness.

Don’t miss that little sticky pearl on the Bitty Bit.  Those sheets of pearls and rhinestones last so long I think they’re doing the “socks in the laundry” trick.  Every time I go to get another one it looks like they’ve invited friends over.  Maybe I need to put up a video camera in the craft room….oooh, there’s a scary thought!
