Sending RemARKable Love

Welcome to the January 2017 RemARKable Blog tour. Our focus this month is Sending Love – which in addition to a wonderful practice, is a fabulous Stampin’ Up! product suite!

I’ve taken the obvious route and chosen Valentines, but these projects could easily be adapted to other expressions of love – wedding, anniversary, or just Love ya, Babe!

This is our fabulous Popcorn Box thinlit made up in Blushing Bride. There’s a panel of Falling in Love DSP behind all of that embellishment, as well as a Delicate White Doily spritzed with Sahara Sand and smushed for texture. (SMUSH is an active verb.)

Stitched Shapes Framelits will be available again on January 16th – be ready to order!! Product #145372 will cost $30 and will be sold as supplies last.

The Sealed With Love set sentiment is stamped twice with Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand – photopolymer stamps make the placement easy as can be!

I LOVE the Sending Love Glassine Sheets, and they are perfect for creating the little envelopes in the Love Notes Framelits. I also love how that row of hearts fits perfectly across the top of the little note insert.

The TIEF is called Falling Petals, but let’s be serious. They’re hearts. Sheesh. {wink}

The glassine sheets are PERFECT for the little envelopes.

I used the Sale-a-bration set Delicate Details for a little embellishment inside the card – I can see of lot of ways to use those beautiful linear images.

A radiant card for a radiant couple

One of my regular stamp club members was married last week. She’s been coming with her mom since she was in high school, and we all love her vibrance and creative spirit. It goes without saying that I needed a special card.

Stamps: None
Color Palette: Whisper White, Shimmer White, Gold
Accessories: Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, Gold Thread, Metallics sequin assortment, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Fine tip glue pen, Wink of Stella Gold and Clear, Vellum card stock

I cut the detailed portion of the dragonfly wings in Vellum, and used the fine-tip glue pen down the body to adhere them to the Shimmer White solid dragonfly.

Wink of Stella Gold was perfect for adding a tiny accent to the head for dragonfly eyes, and the Wink of Stella Clear made the rest of the body shimmer.

The Falling in Love DSP has some very dream-like papers, and I chose this one to set the color palette into the gold tones.

Pink October Round Two

I’m back in the pink! A couple of weeks ago I pulled out the Touches of Texture set and put it to the Pink Test.

Accessories: Big Shot, Bunch of Banners Framelits, Layering Oval Framelits, Aquapainter, Stampin’ Sponges, Linen Thread, Flirty Flamingo Ruched Ribbon, Pearl Jewels

Crumb Cake is my go-to neutral with soft tones like pinks and pale blues. For this card, I pulled in a lot of pink tones – Pirouette, Blushing Bride, and the 2016-2018 In Color Flirty Flamingo. The variety of pinks work well when you’re layering as much as I’ve done.

Photopolymer stamps are flexible and sticky, allowing you to shape them in a curve in order to closely fit something like this banner. I place the die cut piece on my desktop, then cover it with a clear block. I shape the photopolymer stamp on the block looking through to the die cut. One caveat: If your die cut isn’t symmetrical, this won’t work as you’re going to flip the block over.

If you haven’t had your screening, make that appointment a priority. The earlier Breast Cancer is detected, the greater the odds of complete remission. Take care of yourself 💕

Hopping in Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

I’m thrilled to be a part of the FIRST Annual Ultimate Pink Blog Hop – a collaboration of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators around the world to support Breast Cancer Awareness month. Let’s turn the blogosphere – and Pinterest – PINK!!

Pink isn’t one of my go-to colors, so it’s a bit of a stretch for me to go All Pink. I decided to play it safe and CASE myself, and I chose one of my all-time favorites to start:

I love the Botanical Blooms stamps and coordinating Botanical Builder Framelits. One of my favorite things to do is to crank out a heap of floral pieces (there are 14 to choose from!) and keep moving them around until I’m happy.

This one made me happy!

I’ve used Whisper White, Shimmer White, Smoky Slate, Pink Pirouette, Blushing Bride, and Rose Red, with a smidge of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper to add sparkle without sending Mr. Maui Stamper out on the “I HATE GLITTER” warpath. A few Rhinestone Jewels add a little more sparkle, and this card is ready for anything!

Dress it up or dress it down – I’ll stamp a sentiment on the inside when I choose the occasion. I keep a stash of blank cards for those moments when I realize I’m a day late and a dollar short (tell the truth, now…doesn’t that happen to all of us once in a while?)

Love You Lots is on the other end of the crafting spectrum – cute as a bug, I’d say! This is a quick and simple card with a color palette of Whisper White, Basic Grey, Blushing Bride and a Wink Of Stella. Do you Wink? It’s another way of adding sparkle without a tragic Glitter outbreak, making Certain Members of my household very unhappy.

A little Smoky Slate Stitched ribbon ties it all together {wink again!}

I hope you’ve enjoyed my venture into the World of Pink. Keep in mind that our focus isn’t so much on the color, but on what it represents: Breast Cancer Awareness. Take care of your body. Do your monthly self-exam. Support your sisters who are fighting. Contribute to an organization that funds research into learning more about this insidious disease.

World Card Making Day 2016

Yes! World Card Making Day is a THING! And anyone can make a card – beginning with a little bit of paper. Nothing warms my heart like an envelope with my name across the front. Tucked in with the bills, realtor solicitations, charity appeals, and credit card applications, a personal note really makes my day. It’s not hard, and it doesn’t have to take a lot of time or money either!

Stamps: None (gasp)
Color Palette: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Mint Macaron
Accessories: Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, Big Shot and Sunshine Wishes framelits, Pokey Doodle, Silver Thread

I love the look of blue and white, especially the classic look of (Night of) Navy and white. The Floral Boutique DSP has a great variety of designs and they are all Navy and White!

This very simple card using the same colors, paper and framelits with the addition of a few sequins. Honestly? I think I liked it better when it was just the DSP and the word! I thought it was too simple, but sometimes less really is more.

Switching out Mint Macaron for Emerald Envy creates a different feeling, and I added images from the Petite Petals and Birthday Blossoms stamp sets. None of these cards are especially complicated, and you could create a nice stash of cards in an afternoon using any of our Designer Series papers.

Stampin’ Up! Designer Series paper adds a quick and gorgeous punch to any project, and the part that just makes me sing is that it all coordinates. Within each package, the papers coordinate with each other. Written on each package, Stampin’ Up! lists the coordinating colors. That means you’ll know exactly which card stock, ink, ribbon, enamel shape, sequin or embossing powder will coordinate perfectly with your Designer Series paper. Oh What Fun!

There’s not a whole lot of sleighing in the islands. Native Hawaiians enjoyed the sport of land sledding, and although there are a few contemporary athletes, it’s relatively obscure (something to do with the fact that accidents were often quite deadly.)

But the sleigh – or really The Sleigh – is such an iconic Christmas image that I couldn’t resist:

I love the Shimmery White card stock on this card. It’s very clean with a lot of texture from the foil and the Glitter Embossing Powder, and the shimmer makes me think of snow. (Yes, I know about snow. I have been to the University of Notre Dame in February, aka the Frozen Tundra. Thank goodness for Mary Travis and her boots.)

This is a 5″ x 5″ square card, but an envelope is quick and easy with the Envelope Punch Board.

I had a small environmental disaster making this card. You may know that certain persons in my household consider glitter to be of the Dark One. Tonight I was working with the Real Red Glitter EP and I moved the embossing tray just a little too quickly. Clouds of red glitter were IMMEDIATELY dispersed into the stamp room atmosphere. The EPA may have to be summoned. I finally took everything outside to try to get the EP back into the little jar (sort of like returning the genie to the lamp) and now my back lanai is infected. Fortunately, Mr. Maui Stamper is on a business trip until Friday afternoon.
