GLOW OF HARVEST PRODUCT OF THE MONTH: AN OPEN GIFT ENVELOPE

There’s a gorgeous gift envelope in the September – December catalog (page 19!) and a friend asked me how to replicate it. Turns out it’s really easy, and I set out to create a few. Here’s the autumn version using the Glow of Harvest Product of the Month:

Since I wanted to make my envelope with DSP, I used an envelope punch board. If you choose to use an existing envelope, many of our printed envelopes will give you great results. The belly band is wrapped very tightly around the envelope and secured with Tear n Tape since it doesn’t need to slide off.

I die cut multiple leaves and acorns and played with them until I was happy with their position. The new Poetic Petals stamps have fabulous sentiments, and I can see this one being a Go-To stamp set that lives in my permanent collection (which is beginning to outgrow it’s space, auwe!)

A quick note: there’s no gray granite in the DSP, but as I rummaged through my ribbon drawer this retired ribbon caught my eye. It works well with the metallics and is a great example of not being too focused on exact matches.

An open envelope is a great way to present a simple gift. The catalog shows cookies (no problem with that!) but any small gift will work. Have some fun with it!

Our new Softly Textured 3D Embossing folder reminds me of some past (and sadly retired) favorite folders. It has an all-over softening effect on the card stock, and the compressed pattern makes it more textural than featured. It’s perfect for a primary layer.

We don’t see a lot of fall colors here on Maui. This paper is full of them and makes a beautiful autumnal card. Shop for supplies at the Online Store.

WILD BUNCH NOTE CARDS AND ENVELOPES

I hope you’re one of the lucky ones who was able to purchase Wild Bunch, the June Product of the Month, before it sold out. These whimsical animals have a certain sophistication to them, and I thought they would make a charming set of thank you notes for new parents.

The snail was stamped directly on the focal panel and colored with blends. After I finished coloring, I masked the image and added a brushed background and the textural stamp from the set.

I had to fussy cut the Koala. Fussy cutting isn’t my favorite thing, but I don’t detest it either. This little marsupial is popped up on dimensional on a layered Everyday Arches matted panel. The background stamp is retired.

The cow was a coloring work in progress. I blended the light and dark Pecan Pie and Golden Glow to achieve this look, with bits of Barely Blush in the ears and nose. The cow is fussy cut and lifted on dimensional on top of a retired fence. The cloudy blue sky is from Silly Old Bear DSP and the soft green branches are from Moonlit Flora DSP.

The penguins are a CASE from Lisa Stenz, who did a brilliant job. She used a gray Stampin’ Blend and the Color Lifter to get those soft shadows.

ANOTHER ROUND OF HELLOS

I used the February Product of the Month Designer Series paper with A Round Of Hellos again. I like the pairing. I like having “HELLO” cards on hand because they’re so easy to customize.

  • Stamps: A Round of Hellos
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy
  • Accessories: Circle Punches (2 1/2, 2 3/8, 1 7/8, 1 3/4); Linen Thread, Low Profile Sparkle Dots (retired), True Blue DSP (Product of the Month, retired) Stampin’ Dimensionals

This True Blue DSP has sold out, as have the Daffodil Delight Sparkle Dots. I’ll be honest: it’s hard to keep everything current with our more fluid product releases. The good news is that there’s always something new, and you can almost always find a substitute for what you see here. If you have these products, here’s a great way to use them. If you don’t, challenge yourself to find something in your stash that will work. It’s usually just a matter of changing the color palette.

This is a great geometric layout that lets the Designer Series Paper do most of the work. Helpful hint: when you’re stamping the floral image, begin with the flower (this one is in Misty Moonlight). It’s much easier to align the dot at the top and the leaves below with the flower in place – at least for me!

Go ahead: Dig through your stash and find some DSP that is just begging to be used. If you’re one of the few paper crafters in the world without a DSP stash, well, you can always search the Online Store.

CHARMING DAY IN TRUE BLUES

The Charming Day stamps have left the Online Store, but the dies are still available. I’m sad to see them go (how often do I say that???) but when something leaves, it makes room for something new. And our March Online Exclusives are just begging to be released (they’ll be available on March 3rd)!
