SPOTLIGHT ON PRETTY IN PINK

It wasn’t my original intent, but this card turned out to be quite the girly card. ALL THAT PINK!!! Sometimes I surprise myself.

  • Stamps: Spotlight on Nature, Keeping Tabs
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Pretty in Pink, Granny Apple Green
  • Accessories: 24-26 In Color Designer Series Paper, Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Spotlight on Nature dies, Greetings of the Season dies, Stampin’ Write markers, Blender Pen, Pretty in Pink Bordered Ribbon, Transparent Adhesive Backed Dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals

My original intent was to work with the Spotlight on Nature dies to see what I could do with them. I cut a circle from Pretty in Pink DSP from the Color Family pack, then cut a white ring with a larger circle to create a frame. I stamped the floral image from the Spotlight on Nature stamps onto a white card front, then layered the DSP with the opening over the image.

I used the marker to stamp method, coloring directly onto the stamp with my Stampin’ Write markers. Instead of filling in with Stampin’ Blends, I chose to use a Blender pen. The shading is softer and allows the details from the stamped image to show.

STACK, SLICE & SHUFFLE PERENNIAL LAVENDER

This is a simple and fun technique that will help you dig into that stack of Designer Series Paper and turn it into pretty cards. You can keep them simple and let the paper do the talking, or you can embellish them to your heart’s content.

NOTE: These are supplies for all 3 cards 😁

  • Stamps: Perennial Lavender, Stippled Rose, Everyday Greetings, Greetings of the Season
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Crumb Cake, Gorgeous Grape
  • Accessories: Perennail Lavender DSP, Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Spotlight on Nature dies, Stippled Rose dies, Perennial Lavender dies, Perennial Postage dies, Something Fancy dies, 2 3/8″ circle punch, Linen Thread, Basic Beige Border Ribbon, Iridescent Ribbon, Glossy Dots, Purple Fine Shimmer Gems, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The first step is to choose 3 patterns that you like seeing together. Cut a panel of each one – mine were 3 3/4” x 5” – and then stack them together. Cut them into 3 pieces – the shapes don’t matter, but I found that making a template to guide me was a help. (If you don’t have a trimmer that can cut through 3 pieces of DSP, the template helps you cut each on the same. Measure a starting point and mark each piece with the template, then cut them one at a time.)

Once your paper is cut, shuffle the pieces so that you have a mixture of papers on each card front. Because our DSP is two sided, you can even flip a set of papers over! Adhere them to a panel slightly larger than your original measurement (I used a 4” x 5 1/4” base) and then to a card front (I added an extra layer at 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”). Embellish away!

ANOTHER MONOCHROMATIC CHANGING LEAVES

I’ve chosen different elements from Changing Leaves and switched up the layout for a completely different feeling in this monochromatic card. I’m still having fun pulling apart my Jute Trim, though!

  • Stamps: Changing Leaves, Tropical Leaf
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Wild Wheat
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Changing Leaves dies, Spotlight on Nature dies, Deckle Rectangle dies, Tinsel Gems, Wild Wheat Jute Trim, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I think I’ve said this before, but Wild Wheat was a sleeper color for me. I wasn’t much of a fan when I first saw it, but the more I’ve used it, the more I love the warmth and intensity it brings to a project. It mixes well with so many other colors too, especially grays and blues.

Those spatters were made with a positively ancient tool, but you can generate the same effect by flicking the brush end of your Stampin’ Write marker against the cap. Have I convinced you yet that you need Changing Leaves? You’ll find it in the Online Store.

RUSTIC SEASIDE WISHES

This card is a little bit outside the box for me – I don’t usually use this much bold color. The neutral tones of the sand dollars and other sea elements made me bold! And I do love Seaside Wishes 💕

  • Stamps: Seaside Wishes
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Crumb Cake, Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, Basic Beige, Pebble Path
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Seaside Wishes dies and Hybrid Embossing Folder, Country Woods DSP, Adhesive Back Dapple Dots, Blending Brush, Pebble Path Jute Trim, Stampin’ Dimensionals, wooden skewer

I dusted the sand dollars with a tiny bit of Crumb Cake, and tucked a bit of unraveled Pebbled Path Jute Trim behind the pieces. I curled the ends of the DSP and Coastal Cabana card stock with a bamboo skewer – it’s one of my favorite crafting secret weapons. I tore the edges of the Coastal Cabana panel and roughed the DSP with my trusty paper snips, so this entire card has a much more rustic feel.

I didn’t add a sentiment – do you think I should? I can’t decide if I should put something on the front or just stamp it inside.

Are you more rustic or more crisp? It was fun to explore this style, but I’m definitely more of a crisp and clean stamper. Doesn’t matter, whatever you need, you’ll find it in the Online Store.

It’s here and it’s glorious. Check out the September – December mini catalog. You’re gonna love it! We’ve also just launched two new holiday kits to help you create quick, beautiful projects.

CHANGING LEAVES as a SYMPATHY CARD

Changing Leaves is one of those Swiss Army Knife stamp sets – it can do just about anything. Today’s card is a good example: by crafting it in a monochromatic palette, it sets the stage for a thoughtful sympathy card.

  • Stamps: Changing Leaves, Country Flowers
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Pebble Path
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Changing Leaves dies and Hybrid Embossing Folder, Deckle Rectangle dies, 23-25 In Color Opaque Sparkle Dots, dauber, Pebble Path Jute Trim, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I used daubers to add a little depth to the leaf – the Hybrid Embossing folder added that gorgeous texture. I unraveled Pebbled Path Jute Trim and added a strand behind the leaf, shaping it as a bow but skipping the actual knot.

Sympathy cards are the sort of thing you often need with short notice. To make sure you’re prepared, check my supplies and shop the Online Store.

SPOTLIGHT ON NATURE: CI#172

I haven’t joined the Colour Inkspirations challenges for ages, but this month I made a point of writing down the colours and creating with them. I wouldn’t have chosen the combination of Peach Pie, Garden Green and Pebble Path on my own, so it was a proper challenge.

(Please note that Colour Inkspirations is based in the South Pacific and uses an extra vowel, and I have done the same in today’s post.)

  • Stamps: Spotlight on Nature, Country Flowers
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Peach Pie, Garden Green, Pebble Path
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Spotlight on Nature dies, Changing Leaves dies, Birch Wood 3D Embossing Folder, Pebble Path Jute Trim, Stamp and Write markers, Blender Pen, 24-26 In Color Shimmer Gems, dauber, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I fussy cut the floral image since the dies in the Spotlight on Nature bundle are circular. I inked the stamp with Stampin’ Write markers and used a Blender Pen to add color to the stamped image. The Blender Pen allows a much softer touch than Stampin’ Blends, and I didn’t want to cover the detail on the stamped image.

I used a dauber to add a little extra Pebble Path to the new Birch Wood 3D embossing folder. It’s not perfect, it’s hand-made!

Have you played along with a challenge lately? I’d love to know which challenges you enjoy.

REGAL FLORA from the NEW MINI!

The September – December mini catalog launches tomorrow, and I hope you’re ready! Regal Flora was a bit of a sleeper for me. I added it to my Demonstrator pre-order on a bit of a whim, but I’m a big fan – tell me what you think!

  • Stamps: Regal Flora, Keeping Tabs
  • Color Palette: Basic White, Crumb Cake, Petal Pink, Calypso Coral
  • Accessories: Stamp Cut and Emboss Machine, Regal Flora dies, Keeping Tabs punch, Country Lace DSP, dauber, Linen Thread, 24-26 In Color Shimmer Gems, Stampin’ Dimensionals

The flowers are stamped and die cut in a cluster of 3, and I made 3 clusters. I inked them with Petal Pink, then used a dauber to add Calypso Coral to the centers. There’s plenty of room for individual expression with how much Calypso you add!

My beloved Linen Thread (may it remain with us forever) winds through the flowers, and the Keeping Tabs punch provides a fun little tag (trim the punched shape through the center). A few gems add some sparkle.

The September – December mini is FULL of beautiful new products – shop early and often!
