Addicted to Happiness Blooms

Happiness Blooms is absolutely addicting. It has such a presence that it practically makes the card all by itself:

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Bloom By Bloom

. .

  • Color Palette: Night of Navy, Call Me Clover, Calypso Coral, Whisper White

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Bloom By Bloom

This card is just a few rectangular pieces of paper, one stamp, one color of ink, two short bits of ribbon, and some adhesive. The ribbon is made into loops and secured with Mini Glue Dots. The sentiment panel is raised on Stampin’ Dimensionals (which allows room for the ribbon to breathe). The colors are bright and suitable for nearly any occasion (except perhaps a sympathy card…I don’t think I would choose this design for that purpose.)

Pretty cards don’t have to be difficult! Have some fun with stamping. If you need supplies, check out the Happiness Blooms suite HERE.

A Bloomin’ Birthday

I’m channeling my inner ND Mom (thankfully, the days of tuition payments are over) with the colors in today’s card. I’ve always loved the various combinations of blue and green, and these particular tones bring back fond memories. The Happiness Blooms DSP is a real winner!

Still Bloom By Bloomin’

The Happiness Blooms DSP has really inspired me. The images remind me of Marimekko, a Finnish design house that I’ve loved all my adult life. The colors are bright and the designs are cheerful, with options suitable for both men and women. It’s perfect for a suit of cards.

February 2019 DIY: Hey Love

Welcome to February at the Maui Stamper! I’m celebrating with these crazy long-legged birds from Hey Love in the Occasions 2019 catalog. You don’t see them there? Well, I do have a little trick…

Maui Stamper DIY Easel February 2019 Hello Love

Maui Stamper DIY Easel February 2019 Hello Love

I masked off the little short legs that this birdie was given by the (awesome) artists at Stampin’ Up! using a sticky note.  I inked them in Memento Black and stamped them up and down across the calendar – and as you can see, one of them is on the way out. Using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker, I drew legs on each bird. I was inspired by Sharni Haines in THIS POST.

Maui Stamper DIY Easel February 2019 Hello Love

It’s not too late to create your own 2019 DIY Easel Calendar. I’ve made the pdf available for your personal use at a cost of $5. It includes 12 months plus a cover should you choose to gift your own version of a DIY calendar. Just message me your email and I’ll be glad to send you an invoice.

Bloom By Bloom Card Class on Maui!

I am head-over-heels in love with Bloom By Bloom, the new Occasions catalog stamp set with a definite mid-century modern aesthetic. It’s fresh, it’s versatile, and it has a gorgeous suite of complimentary products. Time for a class!Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Bloom By Bloom

There’s a little bit of fussy cutting involved (c’mon, Stampin’ Up!, we could have used framelits on this one!) but it’s not very technical because the lines are clean. The Hexagon TIEF and the repeating irregular circles in the DSP work well together, and a sparkly rhinestone jewel is the finishing touch.

I’m offering a class focusing on this stamp set next Tuesday, February 5 at 6:30pm at my Maui home. We’ll make 6 (gorgeous) cards using simple supplies. Cost is $15 and includes all supplies except basic adhesive. Leave a comment or message me if you’re interested.

Forever Lovely: the day after forever

This die cut looks really complicated, but trust me, it’s not. I had very skeptical looks from the members of the first club group to try it, but they agreed that it looks much more difficult than it is. I think that’s the beauty of the product!

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Forever Lovely

Lovely Forever and the Lovely Flowers Edgelits are sold in a money saving bundle. It makes a gorgeous pair of products nearly impossible to resist.

I rounded the top corners of this card with the Stampin’ Up! Envelope Punch Board. It’s a versatile tool, and the corner rounder at the top of the board is an added bonus. It always seems to get the corner right, too.

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Forever Lovely

I put the card base through the Big Shot first, then cut a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock to 4 3/16″ x 5 1/2″. That 1/16″ provides just enough clearance to allow the Flirty Flamingo panel to nest into the fold of the card without peeking out the opposite side. I placed the Flamingo panel under the Whisper White die cut and aligned the edgelit included in the assortment right up against the edge of the white die cut. I traced the top of the edgelit with a pencil and used that mark to position the Flamingo panel and the edgelit in the Big Shot so that I would get perfect alignment underneath the card front. I trimmed off the bottom of the Flamingo panel to 1/4″ from the bottom, then adhered it to the white card front. I used Fast Fuse (I still have a stash and I love it!) along the sides and bottom, and then carefully adhered the top of the die cut to the Flamingo panel using Tombo. You need a steady hand, and for some people it’s easier to put a little puddle on a scrap of paper and use a toothpick. Tombo is still my Wonder Adhesive.

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Forever Lovely

My heart isn’t completely sold on this sentiment. It’s the “until” part. That implies an end. I realize that forever is infinite, but I still struggle. I’m a words girl, and I get a little fussy about the details. Nevertheless, the message is clear: I’ll love you forever! (But no guarantees about the day after.)

Here’s a guarantee: this card is much easier than it looks and will bring joy to the lucky person who receives it. If you need to shop for the supplies to create your own, shop HERE.

Sale-a-bration: So Hoppy Together

Granny Apple Green is one of my favorite new greens in our color palette, and immediately presented itself as the perfect Frog color as I contemplated my options for So Hoppy Together. I’m no herpetologist, but I know a happy frog when I see one, and a Granny Apple Green frog is a Happy Frog!

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! So Hoppy Together

Does anyone besides me remember that weird cartoon about the singing frog? And the guy who finds him and thinks he’ll be famous? And the frog won’t sing for anyone else? This little frog needs a top hat and I think he could play that role. (If this makes no sense to you, ignore it. That happens to me a lot. After they give me The Look.)

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! So Hoppy Together

The handful of hearts reminds me of a bouquet, or a balloon, or even a scatter of those little cutout things that people put on the table when they’re decorating for a party and then you find them EVERYWHERE later on. They’re not quite as bad as glitter, but they’re up there. You  know what I mean.

I’m delighted with the Stitched Rectangle Framelits. The set includes nesting sizes in different aspect ratios so you have a lot of options. The framelits leave stitching on both the positive and negative sides of the die cut – Stampin’ Up! really did their homework on this one!

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! So Hoppy Together

I folded the Lovely Lipstick ribbon from the All My Love ribbon pack and left a tail hanging. I actually stapled the top together so I wouldn’t have to try to hold it in place as I was adhering it between the DSP and the focal panel. There’s Tear ‘n Tape on both sides of the ribbon embellishment holding it in place.

Welcome to 2019, Bloom by Bloom

Happy New Year!

I thought an auspicious beginning to 2019 would be bold and happy color, and the new Bloom by Bloom set that debuts on Thursday (January 3) seemed like the perfect choice for such energy:

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Bloom By Bloom 2019 DIY Easel Calendar January

Don’t you love it?? I’m delighted to have this on my desktop all month! Bloom By Bloom is a photopolymer stamp set and it was at the top of my list for the 2019 Occasions catalog. My color palette is Pineapple Punch, Mango Medley, and Gray Granite – a perfectly tropical confection! The images are masked using sticky notes, adding a sense of depth with a single layer project.

(Gift) Wrapping up Holiday 2018

<OH MY.  This was scheduled to publish a week ago…but things happen. Enjoy!>

Ah, it’s been a glorious few weeks! At this stage of my life, the holidays are all about relationships. I’ve celebrated with my beloved family and dear friends and my precious church community as well, and my heart is full. There are things that I didn’t finish this year, but when all is said and done, I reflect on 2018 with deep gratitude.

But let’s have one last Holiday post, shall we? You can file this under “tags to make now so I’ll be WAAAYYY ahead of schedule in 2919. LOL.

Crystal came up with this tag – I think it was a CASE – and I absolutely love it. It has a stepped up clean and simple aesthetic and is perfect for any gift recipient. The Candy Cane Season stamps and punch (available as a bundle) are retiring on January 2, so if you love this one, don’t delay.

Same shape, entirely different feeling! Mrs.Claus looks pretty gleeful about this whole gift-giving deal, and this tag would be perfect for sweet treats or a gift to that person who always peeks (you know who you are – I have a few of those people in my extended family!)  She’s part of Signs of Santa.

This is also Crystal’s design. The tag is vellum and it is oh-so-elegant. The Pretty Label is re-purposed as an ornament, punched out of shimmer white with extra detail from the Quilt Top TIEF. A few Soft Seafoam sprigs and an Old Olive tiny bow complete the look.

I was invited to exchange with a group that has been at it for years, and it was a delightful experience! They all bring tags under wraps and then the tags are distributed so that everyone in attendance can guess the crafter. As the New Kid on the Block, I was clueless, so I assigned the tags based on the order we were seated around the table and got a score of 4 out of 12 correct!! Not bad for desperation, I’d say.

JoAnn made a gorgeous tag with a retired ornament stamp and silver embossing powder.

Iris used cupcake papers for this charming Christmas tree tag!

Donna used the retired red Glimmer Paper (oh, how I’ve missed that this year…hint, hint, Stampin’ Up!) for this sparkly tag.

Helen made this elegant rage with a retired TIEF and silver foil paper.

Caroline featured the red Glimmer Paper with this gorgeous poinsettia overlay from the Detailed Poinsettia Thinlets.

Diane brought out the silver foil and red jewels for this classic stunner.

Crystal made this gift card envelope with the retired but immensely popular Santa Hat punch.

Gloria used the gorgeous wreath and bow from the Wishing You Well set and took the time to cut out all those bows!

Harriette also brought out a retired favorite framelit and used the Cookie Cutter Christmas and Softly Falling TIEF for this classic holiday tag.

Joyce created this beautiful Christmas wreath with holly embellished tag. I think we need another holly punch in 2919, don’t you?

Alice creates this charming snowman tag with the retired Warm Wishes set.

This was my contribution. I used First Frost and my favorite color palette of Tranquil Tide, Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana.

Tuck these ideas away for next year – it will be time to start those projects before you know it!  Shop for supplies HERE.

Holiday Goodies!

We had a little Christmas fun last week:

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Holiday Goodies

This Host Club is BIG ON GOODIES!  This year we had a gorgeous selection of treats to share while we crafted holiday tags and gift card holders.

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Holiday Goodies

Robbie made these adorable boxes full of Kisses. She’s the Mother of Holiday Goodies, with treats for us all through the year. It’s fun to see what she brings, because she usually has a selection of crafting supplies “from the archives”. There are some fond memories in these crafty little packages!

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Holiday Goodies

Vicki assured me that these little houses are Stampin’ Up!, and they probably are – I just don’t remember them. (That seems to be happening a little more often lately…) I know I recognize that DSP, although I can’t begin to tell you where it appeared.

Maui Stamper Stampin' Up! Holiday Goodies

I do my best to be current, so this is the Takeout Thinlit dies from the 2018 Holiday catalog (hurry, they’re retiring!). If you look closely, you might spot some retired embellishments, though. It’s amazing what you find when you’re cleaning out your stash! These boxes are crafted in vellum and are perfectly sized for Ferrero Rocher.

There are still great deals in the Year End Closeouts.  Supplies are limited.
